Joe Flacoo Workout

10 posts in this topic

Ravens invited Joe flacoo to workout for them and along with ozzie and his staff Cam Cameron was among the evaluators there? With the ravens sitting at the 38th pick im thinking this is more likely to be the guy we draft in the 2nd. which Means DRC prolly isnt gonna be around by the 3rd so maybe corner in the 1st flacoo in the 2nd.

DE? or CB?.. both help the pass defense

the quicker you get to the qb the less time wr's have to get open..hence the pass rush

The longer you can cover a WR the less options a QB has to throw the bll...hence the pass coverage

And being that we have more pass rushers than coverage cbs im thinking CB could be a stronger possibility in the 1st as draft day approaches, and maybe even a Big Draft day Trade..If we narrow down the most likely choices for the other draft rounds (2nd going to Flacoo) we can guestimate the 1st round pick easier.

And as much as id love to see gholston in purple and black id much rather see certain aspects of our game improved more(pass coverage)

Flacoo in the 2nd could mean corner in the 1st?

DE in the 1st could mean corner in the 2nd?

I honestly don't think the Ravens are looking THAT hard at flacco. They need to just to be able to evaluate him, but with all the comments about small school players, who knows. Of course, this is the time of lies more than any other.

I'm not a big fan as some other people, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. In fact, I'm not sure I really even like any of the QBs in this year's draft period, outside a long shot on Dixon second day if his knee is ok.

I had a feeling that Ozzie was considering Flacco. I don't know how hard they are looking at him, but I wouldn't be surprised if they took him in the second round if he's still available. I also think that they will take Gholston in the first round if he falls to us.

However, this could all be a smoke-screen. Everyone knows that other teams keep tabs on who Ozzie is interested in and try to steal them. There are just too many head coaches that are former Ravens. I'm sure that Ozzie has developed some counter-measures over the years.

I'm definitely all for Joe Flacco getting picked up in the 2nd round, and not just for the obvious (biased) reasons.

I'm still mad that I missed out on finding a way to sneak a peek at the UD Pro Day workouts last Thursday...

(Trust me...I could've found a way...LOL)

I want McNAir as the starter, Troy as the back up, and Flacoo at 3rd string. i think boller needs to be traded. i wouldnt even mind trading him for a 7th round pick. Shoot, if we could give him away without there being a cap penalty im all for that 2.

essentially if flacoo "were" to come to b-more he would be fighting for 3rd string with boller. Does anyone here think boller is taking the backup role over Troy..i think not, let alone take the starting role from mcNair. HA! made myself laugh there. And would anyone be opposed to flacco over boller for 3rd?

I mean...really...

??boller?? at 3rd? making 3-4 mill this year

I would love to get Flacco in the second round. I have been impressed with this kid since the first time i was him play. The fact that he is from a small school sould not be too much of a factor. This guy has everything u want in a QB, great size, huge arm, pin-point accuracy, despective speed, good awareness, and a good pocket presence. His footwork is a concern, a minor one, but a concern none-the-less. However i think with a year or 2 of him working from under the center in pocket his footwork will improve. I get the impression that he is more like McNair in terms of leading by example instead of a firey guy.

Watching Joe Flacco for the few games i was able to see him(07 playoffs games) and watching him at the senior bowl, i came away with the feeling that if Flacco had said at Pitt he would be a sure 1st rounder, and might even be mentioned as the #1 QB prospect. I know many will say i'm crazy and maybe i am, but hey sometimes what starts out crazy turns into something great. Everyone is sold on Matt Ryan but i'm not. Now i have been a Matt Ryan fan for a couple years now but i don't see him as a top ten QB. I think there is much better value at QB in the second round and beyond. In my opinion whoever drafts Matt Ryan will overpaid big time for a QB that will have pretty much the same success in his career as guys like: Flacco, Brohm,Henne, and all three of those guy are going in the second round. I here people compairing Ryan to Tom Brady, but i think he is more like Brett Favre, a guy that his pretty good career but being in a small town market makes him a icon. Ryan much like Favre will wow u with some of the plays he makes but will leave u cussing at your tv for some of the mistakes he makes. However his good will out way his bad in the long run if u are willing to stick it out.

these are the kind of situations i like to see our team in...sure they're tough decisions but it sure does beat wondering which kyle boller is gonna being playing the game today?, or not a matter of "if" but "when" we turn the ball over on O, how many times will it be? or should we sign boller to another year or look at leftwhich? or is heap gonna miss another pro bowl type of year due to injuries?, or whats gonna happen if billick takes over play calling?...finally a situation that is suggesting we're about to go forward, not step in a divet, trip over our own feet, and fall backwards...

*boller* uh huh...

but yet... flacco or smoith?..gholston or ellis? Bryant johnson or peerless price? future CB or future OT? keep our offense in and run up the score or take em out in the 3rd and give our second string some playin time? Yamon figurs or d.williams at the 3 spot? Cut boller or Trade boller? all good situations to be in all good questions with only a positve outcomes...FINALLY A NEW PAGE HAS BEEN TURNED!!

a new day with a new feeling has come and once again the RAVENS will bring pride back to a city that has suffered long enough...DAM ORIOLES!!!

I can def see Boller being number 2 or even starting if mcnair is not healthy, i unlike most of you am not sold on troy, i dont know how you all are considering he had a couple starts against below average defenses (remember pitt wasnt playing its starters). now your saying to draft flacoo what does that do to the mighty troy smith who you all have essentially annointed the franchis qb. If smith is not the answer (which I believe he is not) then I say we take a shot at flac in the 2nd round, if you really believe smith is the answer why waste a high draft pick on a qb, you guys need to make up ur mind, all I can say is ....... In Ozzie, I trust and thank god the people on here arent the ones making decisions...

One other thing, lets give it a year with the new coaches and see how the offense responds, who knows we may have had something all along and just never got a chance to see it. Starting a rookie at qb would probably drive our vets out of town real quick

It's not that Troy Smith is not the answer. It's just that, the QB position on this team is so uncertain that any and all competition is welcome.

If anything, competition between two young, potential starters in Joe Flacco and Troy Smith for the starting job should help the development of both players.

If Troy Smith ends up being the solution, then Flacco could be like Matt Schaub during his days in Atlanta, and would eventually be traded while his value his still high. If Flacco ends up being the solution, then Smith could be retained or released, with no real financial consequence whatsoever.

It's a win-win situation, and the real odd man out will be either Kyle Boller or Steve McNair.

Given McNair's contract and age, he will likely be the odd man out this season or next season if he does not retire. Boller, meanwhile, will also be the odd man out if there is trade value for him OR if he does not wish to remain a career veteran backup.
