Where is there a passing offense in these six? Yes the secondary has played well so far but I want to see them againts the Saints, Broncos and other teams that throw more than run. Then we can cast a judgment.

Broncos??? Better yet, Broncos before the Colts???

You're right, but you guys DO play the Patriots. I just don't see the Bronco's as a serious passing threat.

It's only been three games but Orton's completions, attempts and yards have all increased the first three weeks. He's throwing to some talented WRs too.

So you think they're a passing team? I'm not sold just yet. I guess we'll be able to define them for sure by the time you do play 'em.

I wouldn't call them a passing team just yet but like you said, we'll know by the time they come to Baltimore in Week 5.

The Broncos want to be and are a passing team. Its hard for people to wrap their minds around because of Orton. But they really trust this guy. And they have been airing it out, successfully nevertheless.

They've made Brandon Lloyd into the 2nd leading receiver this year. That's impressive. No team has ever been able to do anything with Lloyd before. Last game they had two guys with 150+ yards.

It might freak some people out, but Orton might end up being a top 5 QB this year. Currently he's 2nd in the NFL behind Rivers. Mind Blown?

Uh, guys? The Broncos are #1 in passing right now. (And lets please leave it like that. I know the bombardment I get when I try to say some team is #1 in something. I just find it odd how they are coincidentally #1 in passing yards.)

Okay, fair enough.

Personally, I HATE stats. Most of these folks will tell you that.
And it's mainly because you CAN manipulate them to serve your own purpose in most cases.

I can tell you this, I can't remember a Steelers defense this dominant in 30 years....and we've fielded some good ones.
Sorry, but you're comparing 30 years to 3 weeks...

To be honest I'm really not surprised on our passing ranks. We are leaving our safeties back for extra help, we aren't seeing the safeties sneak into the box and roam around right now. The reason is to help the pass D, I think it reflects in our Run D rank. Once Ed comes back we will be able to bring Landry down in the box where he plays a lot of the time.

Not sure what your last post was really about but I think its safe to say that Atlanta and Tennessee have pretty strong offenses.

Atlanta (7th highest scoring offense even after playing the Steelers)
Week 1 9 pts vs Steelers
Week 2 41 pts
Week 3 27 pts

Titans (5th highest scoring offense even after playing the Steelers)
Week 1 38 pts
Week 2 11 pts vs Steelers
Week 3 29 pts

Tampa Bay (24th in total scoring) We know they're bad

And you do know that teams who tend to have a td or more lead (like the steelers have had in the past 2 games) end up having skewed passing against numbers because the other team has to abandon the run. I'll take 17th in the league in that stat if it means the Steelers have a comfortable lead and want to sit back and let the other team dink and dunk 7 yards passes down the field.

Im not sure why you feel Im arguing with you. Im not defending the Steelers, Im not making excuses, this is just logic if you look at the big picture. As for the Ravens and the teams they've played

Jets (11th in total scoring)
Bengals (16th in total scoring)
Browns (27th in total scoring)
the jets played us, the patriots and the dolphins (3 incredible defences, and they're still 11th in total O)

(i'd look up the other three but my internet isn't cooperating) my point is the 3 teams that the steelers and ravens have played are very different, and have played very different teams themselves, its impossible to compare the quality of any team through these means at this point in the season. The Game this sunday will be an incredible game, so everyone just stock up their fridges with beer, and their cupboards with Doritos and get ready for a war)

What are you sorry for? I'm comparing 3 games in one season to 30 years of games. I'm entitled because I have the frame of reference to do so.

And least points given up per game.... woo hoo. In addition, close to 200 yds worth of give and 14 points (2 TD's) came when the team went into "prevent" defense and took out several starters (including Troy P.) late in the last 2 games when the other team had no real way of winning.... :dancingbanana:
Guess what...we've had similar "excuses" in prior years and none of you hardheaded Squeeler fans would hear it. Its still early in the season and by years end each team will have their fair share of garbage yards and injuries and should equal out.

Oh...and I shouldn't need to remind you how bad your D was last year without Polamalu. Our D is #1 without Reed. Just something to think about.

You can't discount the loss of Aaron Smith. He is, by far, the best 3-4 DE in the NFL. I'm not sure what your point is though. I think we're pretty quick acknowledge our secondary woes last year. We also addressed our back ups and ST's in the off season.

Ya know, we never lost a game by more than 7 last year. In fact we lost 5 by 3 pts and 2 by a TD each.

We were in every single one of our games and were let down on ST's more than once. One play in any one of those games (or the Colts don't lay down) and we're in the playoffs instead of the Jets.

I'm taking Cullen Jenkins or Ty Warren over him but Smith is darn good. Forgot about Darnell Dockett too.

Cullen Jenkins is relatively new to the position and I think the Cards play a 4-3 no?

Ty Warren? Bah! lol

I'm both bias AND convinced on this one; there is no swaying me. lol

I want to disagree, but I can't.

I really can't think of another 3-4 defensive end that plays on Aaron Smith's level week in, week out. I don't go out of my way to watch Steelers games but, from what I've seen, he's relentless, makes very few/no mistakes and is probably the most important player in the Steelers front 3.

The Cards are a 3-4 team. Warren is a better player than most fans give him credit for.

I know there's no swaying you, just felt like adding my opinion. Dockett > Smith

How about Haloti Ngata?! People always seem to think he's a DT because of his size but he is a 3-4 DE. Jeff Saturday himself said he's the best in the NFL.

Haloti has his own category. There's no need to rank him because he's better than any 3-4 DE in the league.

Although he didn't have a good game against the Browns...

Haloti Ngata might be the only person, in the world, that I would think has a chance of winning a fight versus Ray Lewis.

If you remember Ray joking at the Pro Bowl with Haloti, saying he was going to punch him, and Haloti stood up to him.

Ngata is the best at his position(period)
(that's not just a homer comment)
And I don't care about stats...

Scoring. Steelers have the advantage in points allowed. Of course, they haven't really faced any offenses either.
The steelers have defeated both atlanta and the titans who have put up a lot of points on the other teams they have played. The only team we will play by week four that has a loss other than to the steelers is the ravens. This will be a very good game as the teams have similar styles and it almost always is close. Differences for this game ravens star running back may not be 100% where as the steelers backs are doing well. The ravens are with out ed reed but the steelers have troy p in the line up. Mike wallace is looking like he is going to have a break out year and the ravens have good receivers but no one with the speed of wallace. The offensive line for the steelers is playing rather well and getting better every week. The ravens line has had some difficulties but I expect them to play their best game to date against the steelers. I think we win this one and it might be by 14 points due to some big plays against the ravens secondary after some big plays by our secondary.

I will stop back and chat some more but right now it is time for me to get ready for work, check back later.

Don't think so.......this one, like most other ravens/steelees game, will be much closer than two scores. We may see 14 points total between the two teams, ha!

Call me crazy, but I don't think this will be like most Steelers/Ravens games. There is way too much going on for that to be the case. It'll still be a bloodbath, I just hope we've learned our lesson about playing the Steelers, and playing their game, usually doesn't work out for us.
