Carson Palmer

24 posts in this topic

I just saw the game highlights of Bengals - Panthers. WOW. How bad is Carson Palmer? Carson threw 2 picks and should have 3 more (1-Pick 6) if Panthers CB could catch. CBs seem to be unable to catch balls hitting them in the numbers (Bad spot the chest). The Bengals need to clean up their passing game, if not, they are no threat for the playoffs if Carson is at the helm.

Pamler hasn't been the same since his knee and elbow surgeries. It's bad. Some people considered him the best QB in the league behind Peyton and Brady back in '05.

Lol, I've been criticizing Palmer for a long time. It's good to know I'm not crazy... about this. ;)

Fun fact:

Since 2006, the Bengals have scored 3 tds in a game only nine times.

Palmer is, and always was, overrated. In my opinion, he is a serviceable quarterback who has his big moments at times. Even prior to his injuries and surgeries, he wasn't on the same level as Peyton or Brady. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's bad, but he's not as good as some people give him credit for. He's certainly better than some of the guys some teams are stuck with.

I like Carson Palmer.. He's been pretty bad lately, though. Maybe I'm just wooed by his prototypical QB stature, size, and such..

Criticizing the skill of the quarterback we just lost to seems kind of strange to me.

It's like saying "Look how bad a QB you can be and still beat the Ravens!'. I wouldn't recommend it.

Their defense was the story of that game. Palmer wasn't good, he just did what was necessary. If we lost to a QB, then we also lost to the rest of his team.

Does anyone disagree that all the Bengals needed was mediocre QB play in that game? We had a -4 turnover ratio! That calls for a game manager, so yes, a bad QB playing conservatively could have beaten us that day. It's all irrelevant, Carson Palmer looks bad at the moment. He might improve, they need time to develop their new offense as well.

I've noticed that you don't shy away from criticizing Flacco, even when we win. Guess a W doesn't tell the whole story.

How many touchdowns did Palmer throw against us? How many yards did he throw against us? What was his pass completion percentage against us? I'll answer that for you. No touchdowns. 167 yards. 46% pass completion. Palmer did not beat us. Benson did not beat us. The Cincinnati Defense and the Baltimore Ravens beat us.

It's obvious that Palmer didn't play a great game, I wasn't saying Palmer himself beat us. But he was the quarterback of the team that beat us for the entire game. Personally I would not criticize someone who quarterbacked for our opponent in a game we lost (well, this soon after anyway :P) . This was not me criticizing Flacco (don't know where that came from, I've been defending Flacco), this was not me praising Palmer, this was not be being cynical. Just stating facts and my opinion here.

There's also the fact Palmer has an incredible record against us, but I didn't want to bring it up. Unless it was the Bengals defense every single time.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not denying that Palmer has the Ravens number. There are more than two games in a season, and most of the time Palmer isn't amazing when he plays in them... lately, anyway.

If we're bringing up winning records, though, it would be remiss not mention his "perfect" playoff record.

Yes Palmer leaves a lot to be desired. That fact doesn't make me feel any better about our team though, seeing as how he wipes the floor with us. :(

Let's not forget the potential pick 6 he threw against us that Zibikowski dropped.

USC quarterbacks don't have the best track record in the NFL.

Seneca Wallace, Josh Freeman and Bruce Gradkowski have a higher passer rating than Carson Palmer... and Cincy played 2 lousy Defenses (New England, Carolina) in three weeks.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan.

Except...he didn't. Not at all. He didn't throw a touch down against us this season, and last season when we played them at home it took a last minute drive and an unnecessary roughness penalty for them to beat us by the grand total of 17-14. Lately, it has more to do with their defense giving us trouble than Palmer. Do you remember them putting up lots of points on us?

Davis is hurt and their pass rush has been anemic so far after they looked like monsters in the pre-season.

It was our QB's play that lost us the game vs their defense, Carson can't get anything done with Benson, Chad, TO, Shipley and Gresham? Thats pathetic.

Carson Palmer is not the same QB he used to be, however I have not given up on him and still have faith in him. If the game is on the line and it's in Palmer's hands, I'm completely comfortable and wouldn't want anyone else under center. While he is struggling, he's been through a lot and the offensive line doesn't always give him the time necessary.

The Panthers suck! Why do you think they're 0-4? Their total win-loss record is 115-121, or 48.7%. Maybe if they drafted Palmer, their offense might gain some momentum...
