How Is McGahee Going To Get Rest?

13 posts in this topic

Having Mcgahee back up rice was very convenient as we had a former Pro Bowler to step in for a current Pro Bowler, now what do you think is going to happen? Do you think Cam is going to make Mcgahee take every snap? or has Jalen earned enough respect to take a couple carries every now and then?

I think if Rice doesn't play, it'll be a combo of McClain and McGahee. McGahee will carry the healty load but not ever carry.

I would imagine Willis will love havng to take the bulk of the reps if Rice's knee causes him to lose any playing time. LeRon won't mind having to tote the rock either, since he's been campaigning all training camp for more carries (lol). We have two excellent, proven runners who canassume Ray'sduties if need be.

Dual headed monster of willis and leron, just like after rice left yesterday. knowing Ray though, it's going to take something serious for him not to play this weekend.

But Leron can't play ell game either (mind you the FB is in a lot fewer formations than the RB) I'd like to see Jalen get a couple of carries, just to see if he surprises us. However, I don't want the kind of surprise where he gets a 20 yard gain, then drops the ball and have to watch Palamalu's ugly a** run down the field to the end zone.

McGahee is a big boy he can handle it. Plus Cam has only given RBs between 15-20 carries since the season started..

That should change on Sunday, unless Cam has truly lost it.

Remember Mcgahee was once getting 25-30 carries per game for us at one time. He can handle it. Mcgahee would probably be a starter anywhere else. It will just give the Steelers something else to game plan for in case Rice can't go this week.

Also, Parmele can get a few touches if Willis needs a breather.

Chris Johnson had 34 yards rushing vs. Pitt, and 267 yards rushing in his other 2 games.
Michael Turner had 42 yards rushing vs. Pitt, and 189 yards rushing in his other 2 games.

IF Ray Rice can't go, I don't expect either Mcgahee or McClain to get more than 12-15 carries...

Pitt is 17th vs. the pass. We have to keep their D honest, but without Ray, it will be up to Flacco and the Offensive Line.

Yeah it's no reason why we should be pass happy on Sunday. Run the ball down their throat and cause turnovers by their third string QB. I think Sunday we'll look like the "old Ravens".

I am very confident with McGahee playing on Sunday. He plays at a different level then Rice and we need that edge against the Steelers. Our Defense needs to execute on pass rush for us to win this game though.

Here is how I see it:

Willis 16-20 carries and 3 screens
Le Ron 4-6 carries and 1 screen
Parmele 2-3 carries and no screens

That should keep them all fresh and the defense guessing. The RAvens will not spill the beans about Rice so Pittsburgh has to prep both guys.
