Romo Ravens

Ray Rice?

Has anyone heard anything about Ray? Last thing to surface (as far as I know) is this:

It says that he suffered a knee sprain, and it could have him sidelined "for mutiple weeks". If this news holds up, it's not a very good sign for our offense. We don't need this at the moment.

It's not good news at all but McGahee is a capable runner, pass-catcher and one of the best RBs in the league in terms of pass protection.

I'm praying Rice isn't out for long but Willis can handle the load.

He had slightly injured himself against the Bengals, too, I believe. Apparently it became worse.

Hopefully he gets healthy soon, he was great versus Pittsburgh last year

I'm thankful that we didn't trade him. Hopefully he can carry the load for however long Rice may be out. I don't know a lot about these kinds of injuries, but if it's a minor sprain, could he even be back for week 4?

If it's a minor sprain, he could play against the Steelers but with knee injuries, you want them to heal(as well as they can during a football season) or they'll be a problem all year and could lead to surgery.

It's a minor knee sprain is what WNST reported from the Ravens staff. No word on whether he'll be ruled out for week 4 but my guess is he will be playing.

I would rather see Rice rest and play it safe with his knee then to risk hurting it more against the Steelers. McGahee has played pretty good against the Steelers in the past. Plus we will probably use McClain more often.

might have blew his knee out?
Whoa! Let's not start thinking the worst. Blowing knees out should be hush hush.

Take it for what it's worth but Rice doesn't sound too worried: http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2010/09/rice_sprains_knee.html

Both McGahee and Rice have had their share of success against the Steelers. Plus, versatility and changing the pace is gonna be needed against that defense.

I never trust the players with injuries. They always remain positive (as they should be) and think they'll play next game (when they could be out for a year).

I guess they will run some tests and we'll probably find out tomorrow for sure.

its bad news, but not terrible. Let his rest against pitts-burgh or more if needed. We have good depth at RB.

Rice wouldn't get much on the ground against the Steelers anyways (probably). This game will be on the defense and Joe's shoulders.

Thanks for the link. I thought that both Ray and Harbs comments were very non-commital. Hope the injury is not serious.

The o-line and the WRs bear responsibility too.

Actually last time I remember mcgahee being involved in a steelers game, he got carted off in the 08 afcc. X_X I still prefer him to Rice vs strong run D teams anyway. Ray's good, but just like Hillis did to us, you just have to run right at the Run D's of the league. Mchagee is better suited for it. Mcclain should get some touches too. Use heap as a FB and Dickson as TE. Good stuff.

He also scored two TDs that game.

Well last year in both games, didn't Rice have over 100 yards rushing?

Still though I think McGahee's style of running (that he's capable of anyway) is more fit to go against the Steeler's than Rice's.

Rice gives you more options than McGahee. Rice is a def coord's nightmare.

Conflicting reports?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/27/ravens-say-ray-rice-didnt-tear-ligament/

Apparently, there's no ligament tear according to John Harbaugh and an MRI test. I'm more liable to believe them than the twitter-verse.
