222 posts in this topic

#72 Jonathan Ogden - http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-films-presents/09000d5d81a9146d/Top-100-Jonathan-Ogden

#88 Ed Reed - http://www.nfl.com/videos/baltimore-ravens/09000d5d81a58346/NFL-s-Top-100-Players-No-88-Ed-Reed

We are lucky to have players of these caliber to have played for the Ravens for so long, we were also luck to have Woodson, Deion who were also on the list.

Tom Brady's at 21. The guy who wrote this article seems to think Ray Lewis and Brett Favre will be in the 11-20 range, and it seems he's not too happy about it.

I can't say i understand his problem really, favre has thrown the most touchdown passes in NFL history surely that entitles him to being in the top 20. and as for Ray the position is different so no transferable stats but he's been the leader of argueably the decades best defense, and one of the top 5 defenses of all time.

Ogden was such a monster at LT!! Has to be in the top 5 best Offensive Lineman of all-time.

I have no problem with Favre being over Brady. After all Favre has more than twice as many TD's as Brady. As for Ray Lewis, he definetly deserves to be in the top 20. He is such a beast at LB!

I have no problem with Ray being over that Hollywood crybaby either.

The countdown continues tonight showing players #21-30(I guess we already know who 21 is). Starts at 9 eastern fellas.

Well, another episode down today. The Night Train Lane hits were nasty and I was really impressed with the highlights of John Hannah(he absolutely destroyed people). The highlights of Bruce Smith were great too.

I'm even more interested to see where Ray is ranked now with players like Elway and Brady and the guys mentioned having their place set.

This is an aside but I HATE seeing Gale Sayers at #22 on this list, on the list at all, really.

How can he be above an Emmit Smith, Dickerson, Tomlinson, or Faulk? All of those players have had far more productive, lengthy careers which, to me, is much more impressive than five seasons and then a monumental burnout (injury related or not)..

I could go on and on about this but I'll refrain. HATE seeing Sayers given HOF honors and, now, this. :th_padded:

Well my guess for Ray being #21 was a little conservative as he made the top 20. I'm glad he's that high because he deserves everything that has come to him.

So who do you guys think will be higher on the list, Ray or Manning?

Wow. Ray is ranked ahead of Brady and Lambert? I never thought that would happen. Especially after how low Reed was.

It's those damned old sports writers. Sayers was amazing in his day but a lack of longevity should be held against him. But the old guys fell in love with his epic runs and have him ranked pretty high.

I don't think Ed's ranking was low.

On another note, I liked the O.J. segment too; the music was really good.

Longevity is everything in the NFL and is a big merit for your greatness. For example, Jamal Lewis had an outstanding few years but fizzled out really early in comparison to a Tomlinson, Smith, or Payton. And, even though Lewis' 2003 was better than any season by those backs, they are much greater than he.

That's probably a shoddy example, it's too late for me to think straight haha. But yeah.

I get what you're saying. It's why Jerry Rice will more than likely be the #1 player on this list. To hold up physically and continue to perform at a high level playing such a violent game is the true measure of greatness.

Jerry Rice, now that was a player. Wouldn't be surprised in the least if he was at the top of that list but, as it always is, a QB will probably take claim to that. I expect to see Reggie White pretty high up there, too, no interior lineman had his type of presence.

i think they might come one after the other, probably with Manning higher. maybe around 15.

great to see ray getting the credit he deserves. other than him, manning and favre are there any other still active guys left?

Is Troy Polamalu in this?
i don't think he's been mentioned but with Reed being at 88 i would have thought he'd be around there if he was going to be on the list

yeah considering the number of players to have played in the league being in the top 100 is incredible!

the guy needs to think of that before whining really!

Here's a thought y'all...

Michael Strahan presented Jonathan Ogden and Hines Ward presented Ed Reed.

Who do you think will be the one presenting Rayray's segment?

i'd geuss at an RB it seems to be people that have been in competition with the person they are presenting.

Eddie George maybe?

Wow. I was just thinking Eddie George.

I think it could also be one of his many d-coordinators, or maybe even LT since they have a great relationship.

Having him presented by Eddie George would be mighty cool and mighty fine by me.

I was thinking as I asked that that the chosen one probably would be a running back. Just couldn't come up with the possibility.

@Jamal....George makes more sense to me than does LT. The Ravens and the Titans had a beast rivalry in the days before the last realignment (curse you, Houston!).

After watching the countdown from 30-21 it shows clips of the segment and it shows Marvin Lewis talking about someone, can't imagine he is talking about anyone besides Ray.

So it looks like Ray is a definite in the 11-20 range,
