Turnover At Wideout

20 posts in this topic

Joe went from Mason-Clayton-Washington-Heap-Rice

to

Boldin-Mason-Stallworth/Clayton-Heap-Rice

to

Boldin-Mason-Housh-Heap-Rice

Its bound to take some game reps to get in sync, and starting out against some top 5 defenses on the road is going to magnify the issue. All that time practicing with Boldin/Stallworth and now Stalls isn't even on the field. Joe also will likely be forcing throws to Boldin (like he did with Mase at times) until he gets a feel for Housh.

I think Joe misses having Clayton out there and I feel the front office got too smart for their own good in trading him. I don't think even Harper has dropped 3 passes in a game, yet we aren't exactly jumping on TJ for that.

I guess what I'm saying is: its going to get better. If we can somehow get 2 wins the next 2 weeks (Pittsburgh will be brutal), we have a great shot at winning the division. A lot of people (based on his worst game as a pro) are writing Joe off already as an overrated QB. We've seen bad QB play in this town, and Joe hasn't reminded me at all of his predecessors, thank goodness. I just think its going to take more game reps. Cleveland is a good start, although I want to see a better running game there also.

This is what alot of us have been saying for a while now. Boldin, TJ, Ed, David are all new here with TJ not having any practice before real game started. It takes time for a QB to develop a sync with new receivers and it is sometimes a slow process. I equate this situation to our defense last year. Our defense before the bye week was subpar but after the by week they steadily improved. It just took time for all of them to get on the same page and I'm confident our offense will do the same thing.

When you look at the 3 yrs of Flacco ,you have to look at what is the same after 3 yrs that's not working.Mason is ok joe should be ok with him,Bolden and TJ different but all we heard was joe going to play catch with Todd and Bolden so really only new,new one is TJ. Let's look at clayton doing pretty well on his new team with a rookie has had several TD already in a new system.I just think Joe isn't ready and is a slow learner and needs more time and this passing game isn't for him.Let's face it all we heard was how great Bolden is tuff, great rout runner, same with TJ but for some reason Joe can't get ball to them unless it's to high, to right ,to left joe really needs some work. I mean how long does it take to know or get a feel for eachother they ( except TJ) have been practicing for months.

I just dont think Clayton got open enough to be missed by the Ravens.

He seems to be doing pretty well on his new team and I'm glad he finally get to show what he can do. I really think Joe is a slow reader and that was a problem at least for him. Good luck to Clayton

OP makes a good point, and right now we're seeing Flacco in the 'sync' process.

The only wide receiver Flacco has from last year is Mason, that's a complete change in his passing game and what he's familiar with. Hopefully he gets more used to this new batch of receivers a little bit more, if not a lot against the Browns.

Expect more pass plays, I'm thinking 30-35 pass attempts for Flacco.

hopefully we will catch stride when its important towards the end of the year.
Ummmm NO, it's important every game and crucial this season before the bye week. Every game before the bye week is one division game and the rest are also all AFC conference games. So for any one to say that just wait till the end of the year when it's important, has got to be crazy to think all these division and conference games wont play a HUGE factor come the end of the season!! Forget all that crap from last season having to play out all those scenarios at the end, let alone how that Oakland game was a freaking playoff game for us and it was still regular season. Point blank get it done as many wins before the bye and they wont have to play for their lives come the end of the season, like they did last season!!

I thought that too but Joe doesn't throw to the right side of the field. If he does, it was because it was the hot route and he stared it down the whole time.

Joe throws to the right side quite often. Honestly, it's like some of us have watched one play and decided to make sweeping generalizations.

Guess its hard to see with purple shades on. Just speaking facts, man. He did'nt look to the right at all last game and other years when he did favor the right side he was forcing the ball.

He needs to take more snaps at shotgun.

I dont think clayton was playing to his full potential last year. He was dropping balls getting beat down field, had alot of competition, and even cost us a game last year against the pats which shouldve been an easy catch. He did look alot better in preseason but I think Housh is a way better option. Housh is a veteran, he will start to get in sync with flacco very soon. Also Boldin is gonna thrive this weekend as well. We havent barely seen the ravens redzone offense this year besides mcgahees td against the jets. So everyone dont give up on the newly added players and definetly dont give up on flacco, and bring it brownsss!!

You're not speaking facts. Joe attempted/completed 17 passes to the right against the Bengals.

Text means nothing to me. Go back and watch the actual footage! And compare what is the hot route he stares down to him scanning the field. He just doesn't do it. He is so predictable.

I mean play by play text is pretty useless. Play by Play will say "Brett Favre attempts pass on the right to Harvin, Intercepted" when in reality, Harvin tipped the pass and had a temper tantrum on the ground while the Dolphins crowded him.

I mean nice attempt to look up the plays but watch tape, man.

I brought the play-by-play because it clearly disproves you saying Joe didn't look to the right side of the field. Are you honestly going to tell me all of his pass attempts to the right where hot routes he stared down? Please.

When there was time to scan the field, he did. No NFL QB whose got time is going to stare down WR when they're clearly being blanketed.

It's sad when everyone only watches one side of the game and not both. Palmer had two "shoulda been picks", make those picks and the Ravens win the game. I'm sure the Cincy press is bangingjust as hard on the Bungles offensive play and Palmer missing on 4 TD opportunities after the D getting 4 picks. If not, they should be, and I'm sure they are pointing out that Palmer was lucky to not have two picks which would have cost them the game. Both QBs stunk last week, Cincy just had better luck w/ their pick chances.

I love the " go watch the game" argument.....it proves nothing everytime. The fact of the matter is that you're wrong. Sorry......

Your example of the tipped ball by Harvin resulting in an INT is a horrible comparison to the side in which a QB throws to. In no way are they similar at all!
