The Ray Lewis Coaching Tree

37 posts in this topic

NFL films did a piece on how many former Ravens coordinators have become headcoaches...They can all be traced back to Ray Lewis. Its incredible how much impact one player has had on the league. Here is the link http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-films-presents/09000d5d81ac8da9/The-Ray-Lewis-coaching-tree-Part-I?module=HP_headlines

Oh and Rex Ryan looks like a giant lime

Seeing this reminds me how lucky we are to be watching Ray play. When he talks, he speaks with so much inspiration. People talk about Ray the way they talk about someone who died. Nothing but respect.

Well either that or they criticize him for complaining about officiating too much, though I've always found him to only call out the officials when they made a mistake beyond a shadow of a doubt.

The Ray Lewis sound fx will be on Friday (tomorrow) at 1pm on the NFL network. I would highly recommend you watch it or DVR it. It was a great 30 minutes of nothing but Ray Ray!!

We are so lucky to have this guy. I truly feel sad for future fans who wont be a part of the Ray Lewis era.

Mike Nolan
Mike Singletary
Mike Smith
Marvin Lewis
Rex Ryan
Jack Del Rio

So, how many of these guys publicly acknowledge Ray as the source of food for their wife and children and tuition for they kids in college? NOW, who's your Daddy, Rex?

It's crazy how much a single player influenced those coaches and their careers. Coaches are supposed to be the mentors of the team and Ray Lewis propelled their careers. That's like high school teachers getting hired as university professors after having a student in one of their classes

Such a bizarre circumstance will not be demonstrated by any other defensive player in the NFL ever.

Its not just the coaches either, coaching only plays a small roll since these guys are pros.

The players that play with him also get good rep. Its a known rumor that most players who leave baltimore become worse.

I think strictly on "athletic ability" -all the endorsements and sponsorship you can compare him to Mike Jordan...

No you can't. I love Ray and he's obviously a legend but he isn't Jordan in terms of endorsements and sponsorships.

Best part was when Harbaugh talks about Mendenhall being out for the whole season after Ray caught him. I still remember Steelers wailing about how much of a superman he was. LOL good times.

Rex Ryan took the New York Jets off the "endangered species list." Picking up Ryan as there head coach boasted there Moral, re-built youthful confidence and restored there persona in the New York Community. That which gave them hope from an almost extinct sports franchise in the media capitol of the world...

Loved it. Especially the ending when he said that after watching all those guys talk about him being the face of this franchise, him being the Ravens, he got teary eyed, how great it was to listen to the guys talk about him and said that now he's got another thing to fuel him and that he won't stop now.

I think over all those years we sort of got used to having Ray, we didn't really appreciate watching him play. This sort of makes me appreciate having him again. Can't wait to see him out there tomorrow. :landry:
