Expectations 2008

50 posts in this topic

no, we definitly couldn't.

But i'm curious to see how our coaches are

and in this league everything is possible.

I think we could. AFC North plays the hardest schedules this year and non of the teams in our division are spectacular. It wouldnt surprise me one bit if our division had 3 teams split divisional games and tie for the rest of the record.

and from what i have read/heard about our schedule this season....even though we had our worst season in our franchise history and in the NFL last season....we some how have the fifth hardest schedule in the entire league to play....i think it says alot about this team and its players if that is indeed the case and i think that if we do have the 5th hardest schedule in the league this upcoming season....the NFL and the other teams in the league respect this team highly and know that we are a dangerous team. if everything is clicking on all cylinders. and so they need to be at the top of their game whenever they play against us.

i am not "expecting" to lose anything lol if you have read my posts before, im pumped about this upcoming season and thrilled to see what happens, but i know there is a slim to none chance of us going undefeated the entire season. it can happen yes by all means yes it can. but the chances of it are slim to none. and as for the expectations...i was saying it as in you should never expect TOO much from your team or someone because of the simple fact that, if they dont meet expectations....then everything is considered a failure and what not...i've seen it on here time and time again. and thus i think that if you set your expectations on the more reasonable and more "human" level of things....and they meet that OR perhaps go above that quota....then its GREAT!

you say i shouldn't expect too much but you have the same expectations as because every sunday we expect our team to find a way to win somehow some way now we all know that its probably most likely isn't going to happen that way every week but we still expect it because we don't say hey were gonna get blown out this week or were gonna lose in a close one.

it has nothing to do with respect. Every year the schedule is rotated by divisions in the afc and nfc we just are playing in a though division and are playing against two tough divisions.

yea i do have the same Mindset and goal in mind of "winning" everyone does thats just plain logic and everyone wants to win so its hard not to say "i hope we dont win"...pshh no. im just saying if you listen and read the words i am writing.......dont set yourself up for failure. set your goals within reach first, and THEN if your team or something or someone exceeds that expectation...then Whoo hoo! thats all the more reason to be proud in your team. but if they dont, then that leads to the obvious bickering "oh we shouldnt have done this" and "Why the heck didnt we do this on this play?" amd whatever else.....

Perfection is always the goal now in saying that your almost never going to be perfect but you have to try and at the at end of the day knowing that you have striven for perfection and given your all you can satisfied with that result whether it is 4-12 or 12-4 now as a fan its can be tough to swallow but you can be satisfied know they gave their all.

i think the Ravens will have a pretty good season. This team is still pretty much in tact from the 13-3 season, if we can stay heathly and the offensive player gel in Cam's system sooner then later, i think we will be a tough team to beat. It's hard to beleive that anyone could bring more toughness and swagger to the Ravens but i think Harbaugh will do just that. I think he will run the type of camp thats tough but fair and at the end of it the player will greatly benefit from it. I think u will see a team that palys with discipline and more respect for the game. Thats not to say the Ravens disrespect the game but the penalty filled game in Det(05) the Flag throwing thing last season, i just think as a team we will have much more control. I think with additon of Cam and John you will see a big difference in the offensive play. I feel like they will bring a winning mentility to the offense and we will play to win games instead of playing not to lose.

So my expectations in 2008 is to see a tough, nasty, exciting, and hardcore team.

while I was sleeping last night I had a dream and somehow these points came to mind(yes, i dream about the ravens sometimes lol  )

1. Since harbaugh has a special teams background, and since our new special teams coach isnt a slouch either, I think our special teams will be one of the best in the league next year, also considering the new special teams players we've acquired/will draft.

2. Our offense hasn't changed much(yet), and we got a better OC(sorry Neuheisel :P), I think our offense will play much better next year. It can't get much worse, right?

3. Our defense will be as dominant as always with the return of rex ryan, and with added depth in the secondary, the D won't be as bad if some of the starters get injured(hope not though).

That's my 3 points. Perhaps we'll get off to a rusty start, but I personally doubt that, I think the ravens can't wait to get the season started. They'll have a winning season, and they'll be back in the playoff hunt once again!!

yes, i dream about the ravens sometimes

Only sometimes? I dream about them regularly. I can't wait until I get to run up my credit card bills again by going to another Super Bowl. Being there in "Raven" James Stadium while we kicked the Giants' butts is one of the high-points of my life.

lol i somtimes dream that i am one of the players in the heat of the moment on the defensive side of the football. when the ball is snapped i drop back into coverage, watching the quarterback eyes move back and forth across the field....then when he locks onto is target and begins to throw the football, i get a break on the ball and inctercept it, come back down and start running towards the endzone "i can hear over the loud speaker "he's at the 50, the 40, the 30, the 20, the 10...5...TOUCHDOOOOOOOOOOWWWWNNNN RAAAAVENS!" doing a little Deion Jive afterwards.

Gotta agree with you 100%. Cleveland doesn't scare anyone at all despite their $$high priced FA pick ups. They gained some run stoppage but lost their pass rush from the DE with the loss off Justin (?). The loss of that pass rush spells disaster for their already suspect secondary and linebackers. Add to that Cleveland's criminal lack of depth at all positions and we have a team that will start early but fade badly after game 7 either through exhaustion or inability to cope with injuries. And don't be so hard on the Ravens CB's, Pittman, Prude, and Martin looked good despite being hung out to dry by the lack of a pass rush. Teams focused on Ivy, particularly in the last 2 games, and avoided throwing into areas where the 3 younguns were.

Justin Smith played for the Bengals not the Browns. The Browns didnt have any good pass rushers and still dont. They also dont have any CB's.

Every year under Billick following a losing campaign we came back to win the division. Even with the change in coaches, et al. do you expect this trend to continue?

of course i do...as all of you should feel the same way....just because there's a slight change from within the Sideline staff.....doesnt depict (overall) how a team will perform ultimately out on the football field in the end. if anything i think that with these new changes and new coaches, its only stirred the Fire even more and set the Fire to a anewed sense of life...one full of potential, hope, determination, excitement and the power of will. if anything i woul expect our team to only get better from this point forward, because the coaches that we have brought in here, have had a great deal of success at what they do best, no matter where it was at...they always made something out of nothing. a renewed sense of dedication seems to be making itself known at the Ravens Complex these days...as on average...at LEAST 45 players a DAY continually show up and train and work out, getting ready for the upcoming season.....and our new head coach is doing the same.....interacting with any and all players, connecting with them 1 on 1 and asa team.....being competitive, pushing himself and his players to their limits and far beyond......for it all starts with the Head Coach.......and Harbaugh certainly has taken to his new role as Raven Head Coach....quite admirably it would seem.

thus is why Hopes are high, excitement level is high and we're rip roaring...ready to go!.....

Thats not exactly true. We always came back and did better then the year before but we didnt always come back and win the division. I believe we have only won 2 division titles.
