It's Clear Who The Fans Are

68 posts in this topic

People are trashing Flacco.
People want Troy Smith back.
People want Bulger to start.
Some want Clayton back.
Some people think our O line coach catching another DUI is a joke.
Some people, actually a lot of people, think it's perfectly fine to joke about Kindle.
Doing so only shows me you want attention, and want to be accepted, yet somehow, you claim to be a fan, or even understand football.
This isn't a social networking site like you think, it's focus is Raven's fans getting together and talking about our team in a productive way.
It's not a time for you to think you are cool by trashing a Raven's player or to make light of a misfortune, as if it is a joke, and you are so much more equipped to be an NFL star, just because you are given the privilege to post on this website.
In fact, I find more in common with some of the known Steelers fans on this site simply because they can talk football, and don't just bust out some crazy thought because they are overreacting or just don't understand the situation.
It's ok to express your opinion, but if you can't back it up with facts, and only respond from pure ignorant emotion, or if you're far too egotistical to form a competent sentence, please, think about what you are saying.
Those that love the Ravens will be less stressed out. And those that are respectful Steelers and Bengals fans, will be less likely to call us crazy, and with good reason.
When I joined this site, I was calling for everyone's heads, I was "that guy." But you learn from that, you learn from the real fans and the opposing teams fans, that can give you an honest opinion.
Don't get me wrong, there is a time for joking, I'm all for it. But when it comes to certain situations, it's not appropriate, it's immature. You aren't helping our team, you are hurting it, along with the morale of our fans.
It's only two weeks into this season.
Think about what you are saying, and who you are saying it to.

Dude, lighten up. I see you've been this crusade for a while now, thats fine. Heres your problem:

See this?

That is the code of conduct which we adhere to, not that elitist wall of judgement you wrote up with the inciteful topic title. What we write is left to the discretion of the Mods subjective interpretation of the CoC, if it isn't modded and you don't like it, well, that's just too bad.

Trust us, we Mods are sick of the cynicism, too. But, as long as it adheres to the Code of Conduct, we have no right or intent to remove posts just because they express a negative or contrarian opinion.

Otherwise, I agree that it's far too early to be calling for people's heads and wanting to make drastic changes. If even Mike Preston, the ultimate pessimist, says that it's only a game and nothing to worry about, I think that speaks volumes as to how we shouldn't panic.

What is it with this guy and 'other people always looking for acceptance'? News flash -- a lot of people are on this board. That means there are a lot of different opinions. Debates result from that, which is one of the main purposes of a message board. A lot of us here dont always display intelligent form or proper etiquette when debating (myself included...actually, especially myself), because quite honestly, talking to people with this kind out judgmental perspective does not make me want to respect your thoughts or feelings on my/others posting habits. In other words, it is the complete opposite of trying to gain acceptance. It is a big, fat eff you. No one needs your ('your' being a general term) acceptance. With that being said, there is also a very big difference between not giving a crap if Jabara or anyone else approves of me, and being flat out disrespectful. I've seen some very tasteless comments made lately. But you know what? I don't make a huge thread about it, if I feel inclined, I just quote them and give my opinion, and that's that.

If you are going to get agitated every week by the posters, maybe this board is not the best place for your fandom.

As much as it ticks me off that people post outrageous comments, I still understand people's frustrations and different levels of understanding. Some fans are casual fans and I welcome them. But they tend to get more upset after losses.

After we lose, I usually go off on the team for a good hour. Crazy venting because of the emotions. But then after I vent, I spend most my time defending our team against the bad posts. It's a way of board life, you have to find your niche in it.

Complaining posts about our members isn't going to change anything, only make you more frustrated.

First of all, Troy Smith would be doing so much more than Joe Flacco, especially if Mark Clayton were still on the team.

He does have a good point. I don't think I've ever seen so many Rookie's/Practice Squadders come in and bash our team after the Bengals game. I really couldn't even believe what was going on. I even had one call me out in an open thread, something that pissed me off. But at the end of the day, I for one don't give a damn what anybody here has to say, or if their opinion is different to mine in the worst way, or in the slightest way. It's kind of ironic, because sometimes I feel as if this is just an open NFL forum with fans from all 32 teams. It confuses me when I find myself attacking/being attacked by someone who loves this team just as much as I do.

That's the Internet for you, I suppose.

PuRock, you are a good voice of reason, consistently in threads.
In fact, that sums up to what I'm getting at.
I'm not agitated, I'm just pointing out an observation or interpretation, and that is why I posted this in the off-topic forums.
I'm also not commenting on the CoC, nor am I ignorant to human nature.

Im to the point where my glasses need glasses and I'm not joking. Loss brings out everyone that told you so, some people that think the coaches actually haunt these boards for suggestions, other teams fans pot stirring and the regulars soldier on.

The most popular player on any team is the back up quarterback; or, in our case, the 4th stringer.

That's a good point, it's a shame, but it's accurate.

Why does an immediate strong emotional response become popular consensus whether football or anything in life?
Why is using your brain uncool?
You would think people would like to form their own opinion and try to identify with other humans, but the opposite is popular.
Why do people watch American Idol?

*slicks hair back* Can you say that a bit louder next time, have to let all these other fools know where its at! haha

In all seriousness. It does get frustrating, you just have to roll with the punches. We'll find out who the true fans on this board are, when we (gulp) go through a losing season again. Human Nature, Casual Fans, fair weather fans and the yutes all make being a 'reasonable' board member tough. But sometimes its a lot of fun shooting down crazy talk.

Human Psychology questions, sounds fun.

1. Because we are a society being bred with instant gratification.
2. Because idols in american culture make it so. What's being toted as smart, isn't cognitive thinking, but how you rap, what you look like and what you do.
3. Because its easier to jump on somebody's else dumb thought and piggy back than to use deductive (educated) reasoning to form a separate opinion.
4. Why do people watch American Idol? Seriously I need to know.

Yes some one please answer that!

On Sunday we all had to back away from the computer lol Like I said numerous times and on another board I haunt you have the right to vent,
It is ok to be annoyed, irritated,
miffed, nettled, peeved, pissed, pissed off, riled, roiled, steamed,
angered, enraged, furious, infuriated, maddened, irate and livid--it is
not ok to berate posters that disagree with you--Attack the post and
not the poster please!
I Have a Tuesday rule, 2359 Tuesday night I have to be over it, or my family may rebel and after that they are allowed to call me on my bad behavior lol

Best story ever? OK.

I invited this dude from work out a year or so ago to my watering hole. "The Sports Bar." We were watching some game while playing Golden Tee. He proceeded to change the game on the TV to American Idol. We all proceeded to flip out and his immediate response was "its the number one show on television".

Needless to say my buddies NOT from work let the man have it. '[

EDIT: The new kitten did that last part, lol.

So your theory is Monkey See, Monkey do. It is (was?) the #1 show on the tele, so I must watch it.
