Week 6 - Baltimore Ravens At New England Patriots

1,760 posts in this topic

The Patriots have won after their last 7 straight Bye weeks, but I just did some quick research and found that those were wins against the Dolphins, the 49ers, and like 5 against the Bills. Still impressive but not as impressive

If we are going to rock Brady's world today, let's do it early and get the penalty out of the way when it's less likely to hurt us.

Really this game will come down to Flacco. I wish we see the Flacco we saw in the beginning of last year. I miss that QB.

We did have a better line at that point last season and there were no injuries to speak of.

The Tom Brady game day song: ( courtesy of The Sun )

Hello Mother, Hello Father,

I'm pinned under,

Haloti Ngata,

Where's the ref at?

Is there one near?

The Brady rule is in effect so throw a flag here!
Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha that is priceless!!! Too bad I can only plus it once.

At the Ravens Haven with the Crew....let the gluttony and debauchery commence! Friends and football...this is what I missed greatly being in NC.

:D

But now he has the weapons to make up for it. The line hasn't been great, but good enough considering arguably the 2nd best o-lineman in our team isn't playing.

Now I'm not hating on Flacco. I'm one of those people that do think hes our franchise QB, but the Flacco we saw early last season, I haven't seen since.

Hoping for a steady diet of Rice to set up the pass. I think we go for 150 total rushing yards & but a solid 270 yards passing. Raven win 31-20. All receivers get some action in this game and our defense shows up yet again... gonna be a long day for Brady, hoping for Suggs & company to make pretty boy Brady cry lol

This just in on NFL Network . . . . . Shawn Merriman only wants to play for the Baltimore Ravens or Miami Dolphins, 49ers have extreme interest in him. Pretty interesting to hear that, I don't think that Oz will make the move, but who knows? Man I'm soo psyched for this game!! Got up @ 530 this morning to get the smoker fired up LoL Ribs and plenty of wings smokin away. . . . what a game this is gonna be!!!

I agree with you totally Jamal! He is playing differently, some what. Consider this though, last season we were game planned against the run and possibly we caught teams off guard coming out throwing.

With that said and because of our new weapons, teams must be game planning to handle both the pass and run, leaving fewer opportunities or at least making it more difficult. That could be the difference we are seeing. Just a thought.

I wish I could actually watch this game. I usually get Bills every week. This week the Bills have off! So they show nothing. I'm here thinking "If nothing is an option, why do they always show the Bills?"

I don't see him going to the Phins. They already have 2 starting OLB's who they won't sit for Merriman.

I don't know if we'd sign him. Really depends on the price, which is probably too high.

I think he'll end up with the 49ers.

Ngata's playing..

http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2010/10/17/wilson-inactive-for-patriots-game/

Josh Wilson is out with his hamstring injury, the other notables are pretty obvious/un-noteworthy. Kruger is still nursing his injury. Terrence Cody is suiting up again!

To save everyone the 'trouble' of clicking the link:
The Ravens deactivated cornerback Josh Wilson for Sunday’s matchup with the New England Patriots, which means the team will likely call upon Jalen Parmele once again for kickoff returns at Gillette Stadium. Another option could be rookie David Reed.

Wilson has been dealing with a hamstring injury since last weekend’s win over the Denver Broncos and was limited in practice on both Thursday and Friday.

So far this season, Parmele has fielded 12 kickoffs, averaging 23.0 yards per return, the NFL’s 19th-best mark.

Reed has not returned a kickoff yet as a Raven, but he did receive honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference in 2008 as a kickoff returner.

In addition to Wilson, the Ravens deactivated wideout Donte’ Stallworth (foot), linebacker Tavares Gooden (shoulder), offensive tackles Jared Gaither (back) and Scott Kooistra, defensive tackles Arthur Jones and Lamar Divens, and defensive end Paul Kruger.

Despite being limited this week with the knee injury he sustained while running an offensive route vs. Denver, Haloti Ngata will be active against New England. The defensive tackle predicted he would be healthy enough to play earlier in the week.

For the Patriots, running backs Fred Taylor and Thomas Clayton, safety James Sanders, cornerback Terrence Wheatley, wideout Taylor Price, offensive linemen Mark LeVoir and Rich Ohrnberger, and defensive lineman Kyle Love are inactive.

Even though Ngata is playing in this game, i look to see a lot of Cody to help take some pressure off of Ngata. I just hope the young guy is up for it.

If Ngata is good to play, I doubt we see much of Cody, unless BGE starts running the ball effectively. I would be shocked if Ngata didn't play his normal amount of snaps.

Let's hit Brady early and often and he will give up like he did in the playoffs last year. He will throw early and we can get some ints. They will key on Rice early so lets open up passing then go to the run just like last week.

Let's go RAVENS!!!!

We have two OLB's we wouldn't sit for him. I gues some type of rotation with him and the d-line could happen.

On another note Parmele is looking to earn his job back. He did great the end of last year, and I know Harbs has put emphasis on kickoff return blocking(and being legal about it). So hopefully he will get some blocking and make more of those returns to the 35-40.

Well Cody is actually Greggs backup, but even with Ngata playing his normal snaps, a big block eating guy like cody couls still take pressure off of Ngata.

I actually think that Cody will start to play more and more starting with today. Last week he played 5 snaps not counting his specail teams play.

I look for atleast 10-15 snaps this week, maybe more depending on how the game plays out.

Does anyone think we will rush < 4 often? That's what we did in the playoff game, and actually I think it's been working well so far.

Greater than 4 or less? Bill and Brady are the type of guys who want us to blitz. It always doesn't work out for them, especially with their current O Line. But I think the Ravens go with a lot of 4 man rushes. Let Suggs, Ngata and Redding try and make plays on their own so we can cover. If we blitz, Brady has always been good at hitting the open man off the blitz.

I"m sure we'll bring some heavy blitzes and if they prove affective, we would probably see more and more.

Ngata moves all around that line though.

And @hawkprey, I think it is a good choice to rush 4 or less. Brady is a veteran, us bringing 7 isn't going to be something he hasn't seen before. And that would mean more people in coverage.
And I think it is more beneficial to rush 4 sometimes 3 then bring the house every once in a while. I guess it is just like when a guy on offense blocks the same guy a bunch he gets better at countering that guys technique. But if we mix it up and only bring 5+ only in some situations, it should and usually seems to be most beneficial to us.

less.

Anyway, did anyone see the ESPN segment (just aired) about Cam and giving a few play-calls to a young Ravens fan who had cancer? Touching. Go Cam!
