Just my opinion, but should get rid of him. He's whining around all the time and he makes way too much money for a guy with about 30 carries/season.

I never heard anything about M.A. whining. I've been under the impression that he accepted his role with his mouth shut. Where did you hear about whining?

I can't really name a specific source or website because that was 6 or 7 months ago, but he did complain about not getting enough carries.

I'm pretty sure they drafted Figurs to take over at KR/PR. They (Ozzie & co.) mentioned Hester's name all the time, they compared him to Hester and they even mentioned that Figurs "killed" Hester in a 40yd race. Why did we draft this guy, who can't even play WR, in the 3rd round if not for becoming our top return guy? That's just my opinion but we will see i guess. Besides the league will probably suspend Sams for 4 games, or am i wrong? This was the 2nd time he got busted and the league hasn't done anything yet.

There is no doubt that Figurs was drafted to be our KR/PR guy, but that doesn't mean he will be just pushed into the return position because he was drafted high. If Figurs doesn't see a second of playing time this season it wouldn't make a different. Just because he was drafted high this season doesn't mean that this is the season he has to prove his worth. Sams is a solid return that started to come on strong before his injury. Ganz has already stated that it's BJ's job until he loses it. Furthermore it's sams last season before he becomes a free agent, who knows what kind of value he will have on the trading market once the season starts. Dante Hall was trade for a 5 round pick i beleive, now i'm not saying he will be traded but if the opportunity presence itself to get something for him then good. Like many have stated before Figurs won't be a wasted roster spot because he will see at least 2-5 snaps a game at WR. Sams will not be a waste because he is a proven Return man in this league. Figurs wasn't drafted because Sams sucks, he was drafted because Sams is coming off a really bad injury, looking at a possible 2-4 game sit, and lookin at free agency. There is no doubt that figurs is the return man of the future, however the future doesn't have to start this season. People are so quick to give up on Sams just because figurs is fast and explosive, well just that only doesn't mean he will be the next Hester or anything close. If Sams proves he can come back strong and hasn't lost anything his return, then why cut a guy that can only help our team. Who said before that the team this year is much more loaded right? So with that being said who do u feel that isn't a lock to make this team will be able to help us anymore then Sams will be able to.

Hey Bullrush it's gonna seem like i'm attacking u or out to get u but i'm not, it just seems we have a different of opinion on these couple of topics. I don't know if u have any inside sources but from what i have heard MA has been the prefect teammate. Even if he did gripe a little bit he did it quitely and could u really blame him if he did. I mean you bring a guy in to be a contributor to your running game, pay him 2 mil a year, then refuse to give him enough carries to make a difference even though Jlew coudn't get the job done. I said all last season that i think the Ravens showed loyality to Jamal almost to a fault. Whenever the guy touch the ball he seemed to get positive yards. I made a thread earlier about who people thought would be the more productive back between Smith and MA. My choice is still Musa but i think MA could be very valuable to us, especially in short yardage situations.

Also i think Darling makes the team. I think with the offense planning on opening up a bit he will or whoever is the #4 will see much more action then Moore did last season

Basically any guy that plays 2 positions. Brian Rimpf (Backup G/T), Justin Green (FB/Special Teams), Derrick Martin (CB/Special Teams) and the list goes on.

Well that's the thing. McGahee will get even more touches than Lewis, so i don't think it's necessary to "waste" 2.5 million on two backup RBs. Either keep Musa or Mike, and then give Daniels some playing time. We still have Justin Green rushed for almost 2.000 yards in college, and he is huge (250+ pounds), so there is not really a big need for a power back like Anderson, who plays FB as well.

ok but which one of these 2 position players can give u what Sams can. I mean Sams was possibly the missing piece to us going deeper in the playoffs last season. The guys u just named will all make this team and if need will be called on to perform, however non of them will be able to pay immediate dividens like Sams. It seems to me your main problem is that Sams only plays one position while some others can fill in at mutiple positions, but the one position Sams plays he does it well and he's one of the best in the league at doing it. U don't just throw a guy like that out on the streets. Don't be so quick to dimiss Figurs for being a decent wideout this season. It will be much easier to hide Figurs on the roster and allow him to fine tune his receiving abilities, like timing and route running, while Sams handles the primary return duties. I don't care how loaded u are or how much talent u have on your team, u don't just get rid of a guy like Sams.

McGahee is not a rookie. Besides, Musa Smith was already our backup RB last season.

Agreed, although with the durability issues there, it's not unreasonable to expect the #3 back to get some carries.

I think Darling may make it over Moore. Devard makes contributions on ST unlike Moore.

And I doubt Vincent and Sams won't make the team.

Who do you cut if those 2 make it? There isn't much left. Vincent will get cut/traded. The guy is working with our 3rd string offense right now, and look how much money he's making. I would pick Darling over Moore as well but i think Moore's 6'6 body will keep him here. He's our only tall receiver (maybe we should line up Sypniewkis at WR at times, that way we can get rid of Moore). Sams is gonna make it, i messed up on that one. Figurs probably won't even crack the active roster in the beginning. Oh, and Daniels might get cut.

Big news came out of Ravens headquarters in Owings Mills, Md. Tuesday morning, as the team made two more roster moves, releasing guard Keydrick Vincent and placing running back P.J. Daniels on Injured Reserve.

Kinda surprising even though he probably wouldn't have cracked the active roster anyway.

In addition, left tackle Jonathan Ogden made another step in returning to the field, as the 10-time Pro Bowler passed his physical and was activated from the physically unable to perform list.

If we drop figurs then I'm sure someone will pick him up same with sams...

Moore has the potential to be a great redzone WideOut...Moore could have used his height against Champ that Monday Night to prevent that pick, he just needs to gain aggresiveness like he had his first year.

im pretty sure that we are gonna keep Figurs though, he's shown the Coaches abd staff his speed, and the way he can move it down field....i think we'll keep figurs

Lol, do you actually think the Ravens will cut their 3rd round pick they drafted this year?

There is no way in hell Figurs will be cut OR put on the practice squad. He was drafted in the 3rd round, they would never let that happen. Prime example: David Pittman, he had a crappy work ethic last season and wasnt activated for even one game, now this season he is getting all the praise. The Ravens dont give up on higher round draft picks that easily.

I wouldn't but the Ravens probably would. :P

Martin was on our practice squad last year and he was just a special teamer when we signed him to the active roster. Oglesby was our dime back and he received some playing time on defense.

He was on the active roster last season too, just like he will be again this season. Martin never saw time on the practice squad.

Actually, Winborne beat out Oglesby :P. Oglesby was picked up by the Cowboys, and Freeman was picked up by the Panthers, good luck to both of them.

I am glad Smith made it. Like Boller, when he was a rookie, I have faith and hope for him to progress and be our future QB.

Boller didn't work out, lets hope Smith does.

yea....but Troy seems like the real package for us, he has everything the Ravens organiztion wanted in a QB.....he has Poise, Leadership, doesnt get rattled, seems to thrive the most when the Pocket around him collapses, humility, and is Humble......basically everything the ravens were asking fir in a QB, they got with Troy.....and even this season he has shown the Ravens why we drafted him, he's demonstrated every one of those qualities he displayed in college..Plus he has the Mark of a Player who truly belongs in the NFL...you all saw that (in 1 or 2 games if not all the games) when the pocket was collapsing around him, he didnt get rattled and throw the ball irratically in the middle of nowhere, he stood in the Pocket.. looking for the open man, not budging (when Lineman were jumping up in front of his face) he stayed calm and poised and looked for the open man.....ALL of that is what we (the Ravens) had/HAVE been looking for in a QB for years and years.......add this to the equation that Troy is the FIRST Ohio State Player EVER selected by The Ravens (and he's a hiesman trophy winner)........so give him time, you can see the Progress Troy is making with each passing week, he's doing nothing but getting Better and better for us with each passing day, each week, every practice.....the list goes on and on.....next year he will be even more poised and calm and show more leadership qualities and stay in the pocket longer and deliver the ball on target to the open man......this year he just needs to learn to adjust to the tempo of the NFL and the Ravens...and he needs to learn when exactly to throw the ball to get it on target (if you watched a few games of Troy this pre-season, he would've had a Touchdown or 2 if the Wide Open man would've caught the ball, some of those incomplete passes were NOT his fault)..........and so i conclude, i see only Great (not good)..GREAT things to come from Troy and him further developing himself as a Athlete to further this team even more so than it needs to be

i'm glad the Ravens held onto Edgar Jones. It was something about him i liked when i first heard we were bringing him in as a free agent. The articles i read about him gave me the impression that he was a ball player, and watching him in the preseason confirms it. We only kept 4 DT's so i get the feel that Jones could possibly assume the role of J. Johnson from a year ago. Filling that dirty work role and just waiting for his time to shiine. I beleive He and Burgess will see most of their time on ST with Barnes getting lots of time in sub packages with the D. With the addition of Barnes and Jones, it will be harder and harder for Cody to remain on this team if he can't stay healthy. However if he can get back to 100% bye week 6, then we will have 3 solid young DE/LB that can get after the QB.
