[Blogs] ‘Judgment’ Penalty Costs Ravens

119 posts in this topic

It was really cool in baseball when the umpire blew a call that ended a perfect game and then admitted to it after the game. If these refs had the stones to admit their B.S. calls it wouldn't be so bad. Instead the refs review their calls during the week, and if there's at least a 1% chance the ref made the right call they issue a statement saying the call was correct. I have seen at least 10 QB hits this season that were more 'roughing the passer' than that play.

the calls were bad ye mabey you do win without them but it looks like to me jim zorn is a poblem with flacco out there trying to change his approach and style as a QB we all know flacco isant the guy we seen yesterday and they will weed out your problems and he will be fine the ravens are an elite team in this league and ur season will be fine keep your heads up the problem will be fixed and see ya again later in the year always a fight and good game goodluck in your upcoming games fellas and lets both sweep pittsburgh!!!

well obviously 4 int are bad but 6 of the points wouldent have been there without the bad calls your a typical fan if them calls woulda been on us and ravens win because of it you would be here commenting that they were bad calls and we woulda won if they werent called glad we won but im a realist and i know how i would feel if we lost on them 2 calls the bengals offence stunk up the field just as bad minus the interceptions flacco looked terrible but completed more passes now thats bad we better hope our offence gets in gear or we could be in trouble ourselfs so yes they were bad calls u might say they werent but they woulda been bad calls if they were on the bengals right i feel ravens fans pain no we need to all focus on taking pitt out of the afc north instead of trying to justify bad and good calls..

The referees were horrible, absolutely horrible. It is the most frustrating thing in the world, when those who are given the power to and responsibility for maintaining a fair playing field for both teams, actually impart their own bias and prejudice into the game, thus having an effect on the outcome. The league can only defend their referees saying they were judgement calls and the referees had the best view and other than filing an appeal you might as well pee into the wind, because all your doing is wasting your time and wetting your feet.

I know I will offend many but let me by the first to say it here. Joe Flaco will be another Kyle Boller. Yes, I said it. In order to be an elite QB in this league you can have many talents, intelligence, strong arm, quick release, fast feed, elusiveness. But without the most important trait you will never reach the desired goal of winning a superbowl. What is that trait? P.A. (pocket awareness) which Joe does not nor will ever have. Don't me wrong, I love the Ravens and support them 100% but with all the weapons surrounding Joe, there should be no excuses.

Ghosted, you are so right.I had said something last year.Flacco cannot read defenses and has no pocket awareness. We shoud've kept Troy.Put Bulger in.With his experience and the weapons we got,he'll make his comeback very well.We still would've won the game if it weren't for the stripes giving it to cincy. The ironic thing is that Bret gets hits worse than that and I have never seen an oposing defense called.I guess they're waiting for us to play him.Somebody needs to check these refs to make sure they are not on the take.

Can't blame the game on the refs. Yes, questionable calls but the Raven's Offense was just terrible. And the Bungels did play a good game although no question, if Joe was on his game we would have won. For some reason or another he looks indecisive without any rhythm. His accuracy seems to be off as well. Way too soon to call for Bulger. Give him a couple of weeks to see how he recovers. Should have an easy time at home against Cleveland. Then he’ll be tested again week 4 @ Pittsburgh and week 6 @ NE. By then we’ll have a better idea of how he can handle the pressure.

With all of the talent we have in the receiving core you would expect to see more exotic plays. There is no creativity in the passing game(Cam's fault). Along with all the talented receivers we have we also have a strong run game which is one of the best in the league. The one thing missing to complete the puzzle is a QB. This is Flacco's 3rd year now and he looks like he's regressed. Zorn worked his butt of to help Flacco progress and it looks like Flacco cant get it together. History shows that if a QB cannot be successful by his 3rd year then he will never become an ELITE QB. Ryan Leaf, Danny Wuerfell, Alex Smith, Gino Toretta and Matt Leinhart were all ELITE QB'S coming out of college and look at their careers. Flacco better get his s@#t together or his name will be right up there.

The refs definitely played a part in the outcome, but we still beat ourselves. The defense was solid; the offense did not perform. Flacco had the weapons, but failed to use them. There were plenty of opportunity for the Ravens to put points on the board They will re-group and be ready for next week's home opener. The pre-season hype is through. They will be a different team next week.

Hey Bengals fans, get lost. No one here asked you. As far as I\'m concerned, you\'ve got larger worries than what Ravens fans are saying about two blown calls from yesterday\'s game. Namely, the state of your putrid offense. Palmer is a joke and the two most over-exposed receivers in the league look very much over-the-hill. Hell, even Benson couldn\'t gain 80 yards against the Ravens stout D. Thank heavens for Mike Nugent, right

You Baltimore fans have have such a short memory...A week ago against the J.E.T.S, JETS JETS JETS, you won a game because of one bad referee call. Did you forget about the running into the kicker call???? What A joke. That hit by Suggs I will admitt was not a penalty. However, it was on 1st and 10 on your side of the field. We would have gotten points either way!
As for our problem, "Cuse92 comments" our offense and Carson Palmer have done better than Waco for Flaco and his offense. Don't forget another thing Palmer is 9-3 against the ravens. Must be doing something right!!!!!

i hate when it comes down to blown calls by the refs... yeah flacco was terrible.. but our defense won this game for us as they've done it a million times before... if i were cincy fans i'd be happy with the "W" but extremely pissed cuz it was NOT a credible win... our D won that game for us fair and square and there was no way they would have gotten those 6 points any other way... i know Flacco is to blame for the 4 INT's but even with the first 3 we STILL won that game... hats off to Cincy for playing a great game... but in my mind we still won... that was the most horrible roughing the passer call i had ever seen... there was no extra driving force into the ground by Suggs... it was a full speed tackle like any other tackle... and he engaged him with the ball still in Palmers hands... if you are gonna blow a call like that you can't do it in the 4th quarter in that situation... it COMPLETELY changed the outcome of the game and NOBODY can deny that... yeah there were plenty of other things that we could have done better especially Flacco but him alone did NOT lose us that game... he just helped cincy stay in the ball game... that Ref should rot in hell for such a terrible call and should NEVER ref again... this is a HUGE business and if you are gonna be a Referee you can't blow a call that bad... it shouldn't have even been a thought in his mind... you have two teams busting theirs butts out on that field for a "W" and you make a call like THAT!??!! ouch man... ouch...

These two bogus calls DID INDEED influence the game and cost us the 6 points... I agree with Ray Ray... Our D has held both the Bengals and the Jets to absolutely NO TD's.... They couldn't get into the endzone at all yesterday... and this actually helped insure that the Bengals get downfield.....

Yes the two calls were pivotal moments in the game, had they gone the other way the Ravens might have won. But they didn't lose us the game. The abismal offensive performance did. You have to do enough to win the game, and we didn't do that.

So,you're 1-1 n your offense really tanked 2 games. We were 1 play away from 0-2 or 2-0.Hats off to our defense or it could have been devestating in both games. Our offense needs to step up as much as our defense does or no team will fear or respect us.Now the Browns might come in here n think they might have a shot at us.If we don't start scoring earlier in these games, our defense will be worn down by the second half.A blowout this Sunday at home is necessary to get a little confidence back.

4 interceptions made it easier to lose, but that didn't beat us. Even with 4 INT's the bengals only earned 9 points...that's still a loss without referee help

ravens scored on one play...bengals made it easier for them with missed passes to wide open chad in endzone and they could have easily called passed interference when the db on owens didnt turn around to defend the ball.ball would have been on the one. and to cuse 92...benson ran 120 yds last year and i remember palmer leading a drive to win against the big D.
