[Blogs] ‘Judgment’ Penalty Costs Ravens

119 posts in this topic

It's true that it shouldn't come down to these two penalties but it did. Of course Flacco played bad but this is about the penalties. Complain about Flacco and rally for Bulger in the Game Recap like everyone else did. Our offense played bad so it came down to our defense and those penalties took away two big plays by our defense and set the Bengals up for two field goals that helped regain the lead and keep it.

Not saying that those INTs didn't mean anything though. They're the reason it came down to these penalties.

The next you'll be telling us it that it is the defenses responsibility to also score points because the offense cannot do it themselves. Come on people what happened to Joe Flaccos progression. And this big offensive machine we developed. Jim Zorn is here to take Flacco to that next level. Cam Camrron now has all of these tools he did not have before. Huh who said anything about these changes. I guess I was hearing things all of the offseason and preseason. By the way the Jets played like they were champions today. PERIOD!!!!

why are the nfl refs that we have now the absolute worst people for the job. there's only so many b.s. excuses a ref can make. now they are saying it was a "judgement call" and thats why they called it the way they did. the nfl literally picked people with THE WORST judgement.

Last week I mentioned something about being the black sheep of the NFL when it comes to penalties. Well here we are again, two BS penalties that caused us points regardless of how are offense played. It's amazing how we were doing fairly decent with yellow flags the whole game until it came down to the wire. I'm just sayin.

That was a hard fault game for the ravens now it seems in every game the refs make bad calls just like in the lions game last week that was a touch down but the refs blew it. just like they did with the ravens. Now if most people did there jobs like that they would be fired and would be looking for a new job maybe if they would fire a ref or refs at one time for making so many bad calls maybe the refs that took there place would know better for making such bad calls. and I think us the fans should know who gets fired and who may get a right up something needs to change way to many bad calls.

I agree I think Flacco is getting way too much information from several coaches. He is almost hesitating at the line of scrimmage. They have to back off and let Joe play his game. It is not good when Jim Zorn wants him to do it this way. Cam Camerron wants him to do it that way. Harbaugh wants Joe to look at these recievers first then do this. The guys is trying to process information instead of playing on instincts like he did the last two years.

It's definitely not the defense's job to score points and we do have the weapons to get the job done. We aren't using them right, that's all. When our offense isn't doing anything our defense has to step up, which it did but those two penalties took away two good efforts and set the Bengals up with two more field goals.

Unbelievable game, we threw it away. That's ok though, because we just played two home openers against top defenses and we're 1-1. We all know that we could have been 2-0, despite a -4 turnover ratio. In the first game against the Jets, we won despite a -2 turnover ratio. It's time for the coaches to realize that our defense is still very good, taking care of the ball should be the top priority. If we had run the ball and punted with the lead (twice), instead of throwing interceptions and flipping field position, I bet we win the game today.

You have to give the team some great credit as has been mentioned. Two tough defenses in their ball park is going to be tough for any offense. This is a new offense that the entire team must work through. Flacco is not used to all of these weapons. The Jets and the Bengals are in the past. We could easily be 0-2 on this road trip. Now we need to work better offensively and get ready for the Browns next week. The Ravens have one of the best teams in the NFL and when the offense figures out their problems and the defense gets better(if that is even possible) we will be right there at week #16.

I think we all can agree the league needs to reconsider what \"roughing the passer\" actually means. As I see it, Joe Flacco took a helmet to helmet hit last week against the Jets, which warranted no flag. This week Suggs was simply playing football and gets flagged for attempting to perform his job. Something just does not seem right. \"Judgment\" calls

Story of all our seasons. Or maybe its just because the game off football is be ruined with all these rules. I see the need to protect people from getting seriously hurt, but these guys are athletes... they know the risk. This is not the game America fell in love with. Ill tell you as a hard hitting defensive player myslef coming out of HIGHSCHOOL! The influence of these rules are there too!! and nothing give me more insentive to hit someone harder than a B.S call. lets hope for some retaliation from these guys next week.

Terrible calls, both the roughing on Suggs, and the tripping on Ray. I'm used to it by now, though. The Ravens always get called on BS.
If we would have actually scored some points, and not had 4 turnovers, it wouldn't be an issue and we would have won.

thank you Ray, but what a poor performance by Flacco. Joe, I could be your biggest fan. I\'ve followed you from Pitt to Delaware, and prayed for the Ravens to draft you. The past two years you have shown that you can make any throw Peyton Manning or Drew Brees can make... With the weapons you have Joe, there is no excuse for your performance today/to date. Get it together brother. You\'re like a statue back there! You\'re constantly throwing off of your back foot, most of the time looking unbalance. You\'re legs are completely stiff and you\'re playing too high! bend your knees, relax! What happened to cool Joe

Those calls didnt cost us the game. Everyone is so quick to blame refs, the fact is our offense play horrible. I was tired of all the finger pointing last year, lets not start this again. They were bad calls but thats about all.

The problem is that the refs pick and choose what QBs get roughing the passer penalties. If your not a well established QB like Manning, Brady, or Palmer than it's ok for you to have the crap beat out of you. Flacco won't start getting those calls until he's a household name.

they were both bs calls, I fully agree. Lets face it though, despite giving up 5 field goals, our defense is amazing. they did their jobs flawlessly... kept them out of the endzone... two games in a row. Couldnt ask for more... Even with those BS calls, we cant say that cost us the game... Our offense did... Dont know whats going on there... All I know is it hurts to watch.

If Flacco wants to be a good quarterback in this league he needs to learn how to audible and hot route his receivers to open areas in the defense because Cam Cameron route combinations are terrible. Time and time again I see our receivers running routes in the same area only 5 feet away from each other that just makes it too easy for the defense to defend our receivers. Its unacceptable to have only scored 20 points in 2 games with the talent we have on offense something needs to be done and like fast.

Shame on the NFL for so dramatically changing the nature of this game, football over the last several years with this type of ability the officials have in determining the outcome of games based on some bogus judgement call. What on earth is wrong with tackling the passer when he\'s about to throw the football
