[News] Game Recap - Ravens at Bengals

Everyone take a deep breath and stand back for a minute.

First things first, we all know this was a god-awful performance by Flacco and the offense so let's stop beating a dead horse and look at where we are.

We are 1-1 with 14 games to go and we split two tough opening games on the road. It could be worse - it should be better - but that is the reality. Our boys will be geared up to take out some punishement on the Browns at the home opener and you had better believe the offense will be under pressure to bring it after that pathetic display yesterday.

On Flacco: He will be given every chance to redeem himself on Sunday and the coaches won't be benching him for Bulger - now, if he implodes again against the Browns, I don't know what other decision they will have BUT to sit him down - because the prospect of going 1-2 with a road game in Pitts is not an option for this club. Plain and simple - Flacco knows his time is now and he needs to step it up and made better decisions - and frankly, his receivers need to shake the coverage on some of their routes. Going to Heap, Pitta, Reed and Rice all day won't work. Housh, Boldin and Mason need big games and everyone needs to have a come to Jesus talk in that offensive team meeting room and figure out how to get it done. If eveything clicks and we win Sunday and again in Pitts in 2 weeks, these conversations will all seem like ancient history - trust me on that.

One more point: run the damn ball and let the passing game evolve from the running game. Ray Rice is a stud and he almost broke one yesterday - fact is, if we get in a running rhythm early no one can stop us - and we wear people down. Ray Rice is a solid 100+ yds a game if you give him 25 carries. No doubt in my mind about that - to think we were winning the game yesterday with just over 5 minutes to go with only having run Rice 15 or so times is almost unbelievalbe given Flacco's day. Note to coaches - please run the ball.

I like our special teams play yesterday - except for that big run back - but all in all our special teams has been solid. Def has carried this team and the bottom line is we need a balanced and complete game on Sunday. Period.

Let's all take stock of where we are - 14 games to go and we cant' win a Super Bown in week 3 - which is just as well right now. Let's buckle down and get back to playing Raven football and let's start it off on Sunday -- let's crush the Browns and get back on track.
