[News] Game Recap - Ravens at Bengals

272 posts in this topic

In a 15-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, a dominant performance by the Ravens' defense was largely undermined by a poor showing from quarterback Joe Flacco. Hoping to build off a solid outing last week against the New York Jets, Flacco instead sprayed footballs all over Paul Brown Stadium, connecting on less than half his passes and throwing four interceptions.

The surprising thing is, we actually could have won, despite all of that. That's how good our defense played. If it wasn't for the drive-extending penalties that I still don't understand (tripping on Ray and roughing the passer on Suggs), we probably win that game. Hats off to the defense, the offense needs to start clicking.

Also, they didn't shut Ray Rice down. He was doing well, Cam should have used him more in the first half. When we had the lead, we should have played conservatively instead of slinging it. Ray Rice was doing fine, and we should have pounded it when we had the lead. It was clear that Flacco was struggling.

Flacco had probably his career worst game in this one 4ints? I am frustrated the coaches didn't have the guts to bench him for Bulger in the final drive to give us a shot at winning. Why do we have the best backup QB in the NFL and refuse to use him when our starter is obviously having a horrible frustrating day

This game was embarasing. Cam Cameron what are you doing? lets throw the ball 39 times in a close game where we were effective running the ball. This was a gift to the Bengals. Our Defense came to play, Ray Rice was running, but that didn't matter with this play calling and Flacco's decision making. That call on Suggs was disgusting. Its like there is some conspiracy where NFL refs hate Sizzle. I hope we get back to who we are running the ball and playing defense. If we were dedicated to the run and Flacco trusted our Defense, we win this game easily.

The problem wasn't that Ray Rice was "bottled up", it was that he had 16 carries. Granted the Ravens got into a habit of running straight into the run blitz, at times, but that's when an experienced QB audibles to a pass. Rice was breaking them big at the end of the game, their rush D was about to break. If we would have stayed with the run we would have ran over them. Give Rice 25-30 carries, control TOP and that's a game the Ravens win. Instead we're putting all the weight on a makeshift right side of our OL to pass block!

4 Int's just unacceptable with all this offensive talent, Very frustrating loss today in Cincy. The defense played excellent today even when put in bad spots due to offensive turnovers... Joe you killing us with your indecisiveness behind center. Got to see things quicker & access the entire field, We left points on the field today. Smh!

Still keeping the faith, This is where coaching come into play, Let's get it together fellas.

The Offense didn't fall flat, Flacco did. Why we didn't run the ball more i have no clue. Rice was running good for the most part. Defense played great, can't ask for more. Just a awful showing by flacco, looked nervous in the pocket, throwing off his back foot, just all around awful. Just cant say enough about out defense though...

It is obvious that Flacco cant handle the cover 2 defense. He looks like he is lost out there, I hate to say it but we probaly should have put in Bulger after he continued to struggle. Another thing is Ray Rice only carried the ball 16 times and ran well, we need to stop becoming a pass happy offense and stick our ground and pound game. The defense was outstanding as usual, but the offense still looks like the old ones from the past. Score more than 10 points and stop turning the ball over and we win all those games. Flacco better step up his game or Bulger may ease his way in to the starting lineup. No excuses for Joe, he has to do better than that with all the weapons we have. Terrible game!!!!

What the heck was that?! Nothing but a bunch of DOO-DOO. How is it that we gain more weapons on offense and can't produce as much as we did last year?! Also, what the heck is running through Flacco's mind?! I don't blame Boldin for being pissed on the sidelines. Flacco is given enough time to throw the ball and he stands there waiting for a receiver to get 5 yards of separation. This game was solely on Flacco. He needs to get his stuff straight cause I am almost positive that Bulger can do a lot better with an offensive line that's this good.

as much as you'll all hate me and as bad as this sounds; joe should've stayed on the bench in the fourth quarter and bulger should've taken the field; boldin gave joe too many "i was free a moment ago, you were late again and the ball got in the trees"; bulger should be given at least second half in the browns game.

Yes...Joe didn't do so well...but my question is who is Joe Flacco? Is he going to be the QB that will curl up and give up? Ir is he going to grow from this, learn from this, be better because of this?

All is not lost, this is game 2 of 16, to a very good team, at home, trying to save face from an embarrassing last week. We lost by 5 points.

Now... let's see the real test...how will the Ravens respond?

GO RAVENS! GO JOE!

This game was hard to watch. I found myself flipping back to baseball and at least they won. Flacco didnt look himself. I hope they can beat the browns.

I can't believe we have been dominating on D like this and after all the "weapons" we added on offense and we're losing to a divison rival who only put up 15 points. Joe is supposed to be progressing not regressing. Obviously our Defense still needs to win all of our games for us. And anyone that questions our secondary again is on drugs. No touchdowns allowed in the first 2 games of the season. And with Ocho and Owens on the same team that's saying something. I just wished for 2 things in this game.. Housh td and Joe finally losing his cool. New motto: PLAY WITH PASSION!

really can't blame anyone but Flacco.. someone said it in a few post b4 but he is really inconsistant in the pocket...even last week in a win he wasn't sharp, granted we only 2 games into the season but he is just not looking good to me. not for some1 who is supposed to have a "break out season" however idk if it wld have been smart to pull him for the last drive. 1 bc bulger wldnt be loose and game ready and 2 that wld futher hurt flacco's confidence on a positive note the secondary had a tough test and played well

I totally agree, our secondary should not be questioned again after their great performance against a good passing team. Not blaming refs for the loss ( def on Flacco), but come on with those 2 atrocious calls. Give me a break and let the guys play football, not flag football!

Our defense almost one one another game on the road for us MY HATS OFF to our defense u did well. Harbs please threatin Flacco's job this week please show him that he needs to be more enthused about whats going on. FLACCO is lacking motivation and it shows not only when hes on the bench but when our defense is playing there hearts out but when hes on the field. Alot of lobbed balls alot of immobility i thought our oline did a hell of a job. NO QUESTION about it FLACCO threw the game litteraly and also because of that call if that call wasnt made we would have gotten another three and out. I thought cam called a poor game he called to many passes in a low scoring game 40 pass attepts was uncalled for for a struggling qb who lack success threw out the whole game.

was it just me or have i seen this game about a hundred times before? our D played just short of pefect and our offense cant score more than 10 points. joe flacco reminded me of kyle boller. we have way too much talent to have a struggling offense this year.

Today was just flat out embarrassing on the offensive side of the ball. Not really understanding why Cam Cameron thinks we're a passing team all of a sudden? RUN THE DAMN BALL. It's not that complicated. The added receivers only do us good if we are still a run first team... Not to mention Flacco already has 5 picks and thats almost half of what he had last year. He has been awful so far, and I'm losing patience in him. I only hope we can somehow beat the Browns...
