Steelers Get Away With A Mugging In The Endzone!

41 posts in this topic

Anyone else see that non-call in the endzone, when a Squeeler DB interfered with a TD catch from the Titans, which could have tied the game with a successful 2 point conversion. Makes me sick!!

No but people must be crazy to believe the Steelers still aren't a factor in this division. That's the 2 wins they needed until Ben returns. That's when the party really starts. It's going to be close in the division but if the offense still plays like they still have the weapons they had last year and the line keeps performing like they have, it will be a long year for the Ravens and if they don't win the division, the Steelers will.

I'm not really sure why anyone would have counted them out. They do not need Rothlisbgerger in my opinion. They are just a flat out tough TEAM, as much as I'd love for them to lose out, we all know that the AFC North title is never locked up early.

I knew the defense was gonna do their part today, I trust them. I can't stand the fact that the two biggest mouths in football (B.O. and Ochostinko) got shut down today, yet still won the game. I'm looking forward to two more bone crunching battles that cause internal bleeding between the Ravens and Steelers this year. It doesn't seem to matter which, or how many starters are missing from either team, it's always a close, and rather controversial battle right down to the end.

What a surprise, the AFC Norths big market team gets the benefit of the doubt once again.
seriously......even after that amazing performance by the steelers defence your going to say bad calls won us the game

i have a feeling if we beat a team by 300 points it would still boil down to bad calls

Tell me about it. Having watched the ENTIRE game myself, I think this was one of the best officiated games I've seen. They were firm and fair, but most importantly they let the player play. I thought there were a few uncalled holds on both sides. Plus, I was pretty pleased and surprised no one was ejected after that rumble.

In that game, I'm just surprised V. Young didn't get "decapitated" when Harrison and Co. "gang slammed" him in the back-field...
lol, yea I wasn't anticipating a flip there.

It wasnt a penalty in the endzone...if anything Harrison should have been flagged for that body slam on VY....yet Suggs is flagged for a normal tackle.

That Steelers D was *ludicrously* good. I actually went and found a torrent of the whole game to see how much/ many of the turnovers were Titan ineptitude and how much/ many were defensive play making. Also had a look to see how they kept CJ2K on lock. . Troy P in my opinion is the best player in the game right now. Regardless of position.

That said, the offense wasn't impressive and the game could have feasibly lost that game if not for the trickery on the opening kickoff.

Are you telling me that McFadden wasn't up in Nate Washington's grill before that ball got there? He never looked for the ball either. Wish I could find a video clip.

Did you watch the ENTIRE game? I doubt it, so don't sit there and tell me that the Titans DIDN'T win because of a penalty that only YOU seemed to have seen.

The coverage was tight, but I dont believe he impeded Washingtons attempt to catch the ball. Washington had both hands and the contact was prevalent after Washington had touched the ball...imo.

Harrison still should have been flagged for that sack...that was just awful.

No, the broadcasters saw it too. I caught that part on RedZone so no, I didn't see the rest of the game, I can't watch the Steelers without getting nautious, they make me sick, how they are always the BENEFICIARY of a controversial call, or non call. The Steelers do whatever they want, and get away with it. I'm saying that was obvious pass interference in my opinion, which if it hadn't have happened, Washington should have had a TD reception, otherwise, after the penalty it should have been 1st and Goal for the Titans on the 1 yard line. Steeler fans would shoot me if I were an official.

Not the broadcasters doing the game! This is your opinion. In MY opinion, that is a statement of an uneducated fan.

you were staying that we get away with things because we are a "Big Market Team"

and the op was saying that the missed call won us the game

and since your statement was supporting the op's statement i assumed you had agreed

if not then i am sorry

The way they're playing surprises me. They're definitely not playing like the Squealers of last year. We need to step it up or step aside
We were missing two key players last year. Who'd have known Troy's absence would have THAT big an impact. Our offense started to get it together late in the year though. Of course now we're dealing with injuries there too.

It wasn't PI.

I hate the Steelers, but I respect them unlike the Bengals who run their mouths after one good regular season which ended without a playoff win.

The Steelers beat the Titans fair and square. Troy Polamalu also looked like the best football player in the NFL. :(

And the difference about this year besides just missing Troy and Smith is the D has a new mentality compared to last year. Last year, I feel the D got complacent and thought Ben could bring the Steelers back from any 4th quarter deficit and they just didn't have that intensity.

Fast forward to this year and obviously the addition of Troy and Smith help greatly but the D knows that they pretty much have to win the game and can't go out and let the opposing team score 21 points. They know they can't give up a late 4th quarter lead because the chances of a comeback will be slim.

Mentality and nastiness are huge when it comes to playing D and I think in addition to the injuries, that the D also lost some of that last year because they had too much confidence in Ben and the offense.

Actually that is a little backwards. The defense has long been the crutch of the Steelers. They lost Troy and Aaron and began to get picked apart. Our back ups were not up to par. Though, we never lost by more than 7 and we missed FG's and 4 Pr/Kr TD's too. What happened was, the offense began to finally step up. Heck, Tomlin was lambasted for calling an on-side kick in the Packer game (?) because he knew our defense would give up the lead.

I didn't think it was pass interference. It was a good play by the two DBs (I could mean defensive backs or I could be meaning something else there ).

I remember when we used to have a shutdown corner and safety duo that would terrorize receivers....now we have Slippy and Zibby covering guys.....

Honestly, it was a legit call.

Today... Steelers linebacker James Harrison received bad news and good today from the NFL office.
He was fined $5,000 for body-slamming Tennessee quarterback Vince Young on a sack in the third quarter of the Steelers' 19-11 victory in Nashville Sunday.
And he was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week............
