Suggs Files Grievance Against Ravens

77 posts in this topic

DUDE $8 million GUARANTEED MONEY IS ENOUGH TO LIVE OFF OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Let alone his CHILDREN AS WELL if he doesn't blow it on stupid things!. Especially getting PAID to play something that you LOVE and getting 8MILLION for whatever amount of YEARS IS CRAZY AS IS IN MY OPINION just to play a SPORT. Guess everyone now is so use to seeing people get so many MILLIONS of DOLLARS thats all they are use to and know NO different.

If it's just a sport maybe you should try to become a prof. football player. Suggs has been blessed with lots of talents and he deserves every penny he's making, like every other football player. You guys are hyprocrites if you think that he's being greedy just because he doesn't want to throw a million dollars out of the window.

This is where your wrong (IN MY OPINION) he is not throwing anything out the WINDOW. THEY WILL REIMBURSS HIM from LAST YEAR just give them TIME instead of having to get it ASAP!. I think he has enough money right now to be ok until they get around to his contract.

AND BTW I would LOVE TO BE ABLE TO BE A PRO FOOTBALL PLAYER.

But REMEMBER it's still A sport and something they LOVE to PLAY and to be getting PAID FOR IT AT THE SAME TIME IS AWESOME!!. Also yes i KNOW they WORKED VERY hard to get to the NFL but $8 MIL is A LOT and they are still working out on getting him money back from LAST YEAR dude needs to CHILL BE HAPPY THE RAVENS GAVE HIM A CHANCE TO PLAY IN THE NFL AND BE GRATEFUL GOD BLESSED HIM WITH HIS TALENT!.

i think both the community as well as the Ravens..knew he was going to be doing this type of thing which is understandable because he didnt play as much as he did at that one position than the other...and besides, i think that it was mostly his agent doing this and trying to get him more money as Suggs said last season " im here to play football, i let the contract stuff work itself out and stay out of it...im just here to play"

Yeah, unfortunately Suggs is putting himself first instead of the team and it is obviously very disappointing as he is one of my fav players... Consider this: Tom Brady, arguably the best QB in the league, signed a meager (in comparison to Manning, Vick, and Roethlisberger) contract of a little over $60M a couple years back and you haven't heard him complaining about it. In fact, he has restructured it so that the team could sign the likes of Moss, Welker, A.D., etc. Manning (the older) also has done selfless acts like that to keep his guys around (Wayne, Harrison, and Clark). Suggs needs to grow up and start putting the team ahead of himself so this team can have some money to improve the roster!

eh, i dont think its suggs doing with all of this, i mean because he has stated time and time again that he just wants to go out there and play football and play it with everything he possibly has...he said that the contract will work itself out at some point...but he said that he tries to stay out of that part of it...let his agent handle it, so all of this i think is merely part of his agent's doing, not his....because im sure that suggs just wanted a contract and for it to be done with, and not having it drag on and on.

Then you would think he would fire his AGENT for making him look bad a bit. Or have things re-worded and fixed so it didn't come off across to all the RAVEN fans that he is being a bit of a you know what.

And also about how he acted last year all chillaxed about his contract and not worrying bout redoing it to get paid a bit less so the ORGANIZATION had more money for other players. And then this year comes around and he acts totally different like all he wants is his money and he wants it NOW seem like last year all he really did was put on a front..

Last year i was praising him about how AWESOME of a guy he was about doing that for the team redoin his contract losing some money to help get other players and then he pulls this.. it just kind of bothered me is all. Hope this made sense being half asleep trying to think while i type doesn't work well when i cant even think.. bcuz i am still in sleep mode. So please forgive me if it doesn't make sense haha

pretty much expected. I have a bad feeling this is going to sour his relationship with the organization. he's having an identity crisis :P

tisk tisk. this was so expected. well all i can say is, he should just play as hard as he can and prove his worth without any doubt. that's the best way to do it. hope we don't hear about this all year! <_<

After the whole thing with Jamal 2 years ago and thinking he was worth more than he was...this is just another black eye for the me-first players.

And yeah, I am a bit sick of my agent handles all those matters-type answer. Maybe sizzle ought to be a bit more involved in his financial matters then.

I think your wrong. Look at the bigger picture, this is about the money. To hell with the extra 815K, he would get from the franchise tag. If he gets classified as a DE, then he has the leverage to ask for a long term deal close to the 72 million, 30 million guareenteed deal that Freeney got instead of the one closer to what Thomas got last year. If the league classify's him as a DE, he is going to demand that kind of paycheck. A player that just wants to get the deal done so he can play football wouldnt go through all this. We can blame his agent but ultimately the player has the final say and if he isnt getting the representation he wants, he is free to fire his agent, ala A-Rod, and get a new one. The fact that he hasnt done it, speaks volumes.

like Suggs said himself....more than a few times before....."i just want to play Football...everything else..i leave to my agent and other people"...he said he's here in Baltimore to do one thing and one thing only...to Play football. thats it. if players were so worried about the money aspect...we surely wouldnt see a player's TOP ability to perform. thats a fact hats been proven many times over. and with Freeny..thats another aspect...because both Suggs and Freeny have the SAME agent. and so of course there's going to be a push for more money. but suggs is all about football and the ravens, not the money, he's said it himself. Suggs is the type of player that just wants to play football, all the Contract issues and blah blah blah, he really lets his agent handle it all. thats not him, its the agent. sure he can fire his agent. but the fact that he represents high profile players like Freeney....the thought of that happening is un likely. you think that would look good on suggs part if he fires him? lol doubt it, so he couldnt even if he wanted to.

My parents told me time and time again that there was a Santa Claus, an Easter Bunny AND a Tooth Fairy... only to the sad realization they were making up stories to make me feel good.

lol there's a difference there my friend lol..... those are mythilogical creatures whom line in our own mind...Suggs is a real person whom we've all heard his own words from his mouth, and thus he said that he lets the contract issues work themselves, he's out there to play and do 1 thing and 1 thing only.....to play football. and thats what his main focus should be on. not the off the field stuff. which could only lead to distraction...which is extactly what this is turning into with the fans right now. because the Suggs thing keeps coming up time and time again.

I don't think Suggs is being selfish at all. If you went to work as say an administrative assistant at a place and they had you performing additional duties besides what you signed up for, like maybe working the mailroom or in the accounting department while you still did your other responsibilities well, wouldnt you want a raise for it. It just happens that Suggs plays two positions DE and LB. Suggs wants compensation for the jobs he is performing. Think about how mature he is being about the franchise tag. He isnt threatening the hold out like Briggs last season and genuinely seems happy that he gets to play for another year. I also think that once his arbitration is resolved he gets a LTD anyway and it doesnt matter. Maybe there is a way they can average the two franchise tag numbers and pay him that and get back to signing him already.

Guess YOU believe everything you hear. Just because "SUGGS" says i am here to play football, and football ONLY and i leave my contract issues to my agent.

Does not mean its true but you seem to believe whatever you hear. SEEMS to me and BASICALLY everyone else that he isn't "ALL JUST HERE FOR FOOTBALL ANYMORE", he is HERE for MONEY MONEY AND MORE MONEY then FOOTBALL!. He isn't a RAVEN AT HEART AND FOREVER BLAH BLAH w.e he has said he is.. BUT if he GETS his money! HE IS FO SHIZZLE but IF NOT whatever team he could have ended up with he would be saying the same things to the FANS! until money issues come up again.

It just makes me SICK i just wish players could be happy with the $MILLIONS$ they get!!, play football, and never leave the TEAM that brought YOU into the NFL! stay classy!! for the FANS, who BUY your JERSEYS! and give you that EXTRA MONEY stay TRUE & most IMPORTANTLY have fun playing the SPORT you LOVE! and on top of that get paid for it!. Stop crying over spilled milk because you were shortened 2 cents you still have $8 MILLION$ plus the other money you have EARNED over the years!. DON'T LET PAPER RUIN YOUR REPUTATION!!. THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.. its just materialistic CRAP!!!!.

the only thing that people can go by is the player or person's actual words that were spoken/taken out of his very own mouth. thats all people can see and bank off of. and so thats what i based my statement off of. You take and say things from what you hear, you cannot say things about anyone or anything that havent been said or anything. how can anyone say that Suggs isnt a Raven at heart???? all we have to bank off of his his very own words to which he said time and time again..he's a raven at heart. of course They have to (at some points in time) pay at least some sort of Attention to Their own contracts and be aware of whats going on...i mean if he or they or anyone in his position didnt...then that's very poor on their own part. but im saying, that the contract issues dont play as big of a factor than that of Football...Football is the Main reason Suggs is here and a Raven, not because of the money i mean you didnt hear on Draft day "the Baltimore Ravens select...Terrell Suggs...Excellent financial Player" or anything refering to the money did you? haha No. its all about skill and the level of play and the passion he has for the sport and his team. and he most certainly has shown his talent, passion and trust and love for the game as a Raven time and time again.

I disagree with that. I understand your point but to me that doesnt apply to this situation. He's a football player and at some point or another every player has to fill in at another position. Thats like saying a guy whose primary role/job is being a runstopper should get a raise because he has to drop back in coverage. To me filling in where they are needed on the field is apart of their job. Thats why they make millions of dollars to began with. His primary position is at linebacker and he should be paid as a linebacker. Now if he was a player and the team asked him to coach the team or scout players at the combine, then he would be performing duties outside of his job, and deserve the extra compensation. He's not being immature about it, I give him that but this is greed. Suggs has already made more money in his career then most of us will make in our entire lifetime. And most of us will hold jobs that are more important to the welfare of the country then his is.

and to add to what has already been said.....the Ravens and everyone around the NFL a few weeks ago when the Tag was put on him, all said that this type of thing was going to happen so its nothing really "New" besides, his Main Duties are doing what he does most..which is why he was handed the Franchise tag he did. and not at another position.

that is true and the fact that his actions that he's done have continually pointed to the fact that he wants to remain a Baltimore Raven....only adds to the ever looming equation of him staying a Raven. this issue right now is mainly because of Suggs Agent......in being that his agent Handles at least 95 percent of his off the field issues, especially when it comes down to his contract. so in a way, its not entirely Suggs himself, in being his agent is a big part of it.

yup, couldnt have said it better.

I jus hope we dont pay him freeney money. how far did freeney drop off since he got the big bucks? im sure suggs is worth it, but with 09 looking to be a cap purge type of year, i hope ozzie plays it right.

As far as the grievance issue, i think suggs could have gone about it better. I know he is trying to get the big DE salary but ozzie always takes care of his star players when it comes to $$. suggz will get his money the team doesnt deserve this, suggs has more say than we give credit. This time of the year is business time i understand but once may rolls around he needs to re focus on the team and whats best in the long run, especially if a contract hasnt come to terms. And filing suit against the ravens isnt helping at all.

His agent wants the big commish, he wants to bring ozzie to the table with less...only advice i can give to him "you cant hustle a hustler"

it just goes to show you that even though a player may have the Big contract and the big money going for him, doesnt mean that after it, his performance will stay the same.....i can think of a few examples in which the players wanted big name contracts, got them and then afterwards didnt perform to standards and what was expected from them......and besides i think most players (both Ex-players and Current) will tell you that Money isnt everything, it doesnt pay for the talent someone has. doesnt say that a particular palyer will be the greatest of all time because we paid him such and such much money.....you cant hide true talent no matter how much money you pay a player, and some players will turn down the big name contracts and stay with the smaller type contracts because thats not what truly matters to them the most....its what they put forth on the field that they put the most effort into. and thats where their main focus should be...like suggs. he will be a Raven, all signs point in that direction. this is just a main stay little bump in the road that his agent brought up because he thinks he can get Suggs a little bit more money

just remember what Suggs has continually said many times over and times before.

"I've always said and believe in my heart that I'm a Raven," Suggs said. "I love the city of Baltimore. On the front office side, we're decided by the decisions and moves they make, on whether they see me as a Raven."-Terrell Suggs

i think its a aftermath effect of alot of people getting their ideas and their own oppinions said and put out there in hte mix so that we all can be a part of it all....contributing to the same clause that we love and care for so so much..that of the Baltimore Ravens.
