Im not worried about it at all. I see this taking the same route as Lance Briggs and the Bears did. At the end of the season, im expecting us to work out a deal with him depending on what we draft. Briggs threatened to sit out the season, he didnt, and he re-signed with the bears during free agency. I have a feeling this will be very similar to that.

I wish Suggs would just let it go...I mean the Ravens are working out the long term deal for him. It's players like Suggs, I just lose alot of respect for. Football is all about Greed now... I'm not saying I hate the guy, but why stir the issue into a bigger problem. We need all the cap space if possible. I know Ray has been greedy, but heck, he's a proven factor and leader for our D. Oh well, I'm sure the Ravens will handle it professionally.

The thing about Briggs and the bears if i can remember...The reason why Briggs threat them to sit out is because he wanted that long term deal, and the Bears didn't want too. At least the Ravens are trying to give Suggs a long term deal.

Yeah, now we have to pay him 9 million bucks for one year. And if he bounces back (statistically) this season, if he records 10+ sacks which is very likekly, he's going to ask for a much bigger contract. I really don't get what this front office is doing at times.

I realize these guys are getting paid to play the game, but stuff like this is still annoying. It seems like quibbling when he's already slated to make over $8 million this year.

Even so, I can't say for certain I'd pass up an opportunity to tack another $814K, either.

What makes it look really bad to me is that this comes on the heels of what he said about playing for the Cardinals because Arizona is his home turf.

If another team would cough up the 1st round picks it would take to get Suggs away from us with that franchise tag, I'd let him go. Don't have to worry about that happening, though.

This isn't surprising... he said he was going to do this. I feel if you play more than 50% of your snaps at a position than thats your position. And in his defense, $800K is a lot of money. That being said, I wish he wouldn't do this for obvious reasons, but I can't really blame him.

Paying him 8.5M for a year is not good for anyone. He does not deserve that kind of money (he will obviously feel he does) and at sometime it will come back to bite us in the a**, if it has already not.

It did show that without having pressure from the other side of the line (Trevor Pryce), he certainly wasn't as capable of making the big plays in the backfield.

We're talking about (almost) a million dollars the Ravens wanted to "steal" from him by putting the LB tag on him. Ozzie forced him to do this and it was a smart move in some way. Either Suggs doesn't say anything and he's gonna lose a million OR he files a grievance against the Ravens which basically makes him look like a greedy guy. Ozzie put him in a terrible spot, you don't treat your core players like that. It's stuff like this that shows why you Ozzie is not a GREAT general manager. This front office has no clue when to re-sign core guys.

Ogden, Ray Lewis, Peter Boulware, McAlister, etc. etc. etc.

Suggs is the one who thinks he deserves Dwight Freeney type money. He doesn't.

By waiting until the players rookie contract is up, you ensure that he is the real deal and you dont end up overpaying for a one hit wonder. I'd rather overpay a great player, rather then over pay an average player. It also makes hold outs less of a possibility. The last one we had was McCalister under the franchise tag.

I agree totally. I thought SUGGS was a CLASSY guy when last year they let the organization mess with his contract to get more money for other players. I understand they did not stand by there word with getting it fixed as last year he said i have trust in the "RAVENS ORGANIZATION" to correct this next year its no "BIG DEAL" to me.. and they have not so i can understand why he is mad about all of this. But on the other hand he needs to chill out..Not like (HE ISNT GETTING ENOUGH MONEY ANYWAYS....)

Sure Suggs COULD be more of a team player, but why would he? He's obviously frustrated by the fact that we placed the franchise tag on him. I don't blame him. Ozzie should have done this a long time ago. We all knew that Suggs is a special player after his rookie season, or his second season. We should have re-signed him by the 3rd year, the 4th year at the very latest. We will do the same thing with Ngata as well and all those other core players.

DUDE $8 million GUARANTEED MONEY IS ENOUGH TO LIVE OFF OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Let alone his CHILDREN AS WELL if he doesn't blow it on stupid things!. Especially getting PAID to play something that you LOVE and getting 8MILLION for whatever amount of YEARS IS CRAZY AS IS IN MY OPINION just to play a SPORT.
