Sapp Retires

32 posts in this topic

I liked him, but only because he went to the U.

Who knows who played DT behind warren sapp at the U? ( < learned this yesterday)

I bet you know! You only asked who knows who played behind, not who played behind him. What do I win?

Also, I never cared for Sapp. I also always thought he was overrated was simply just a loud fat man.

I knew the answer to that. I heard him talk about it in an interview for The Gameplan (which was a masterpiece...in crappy cinema.) But seriously, Warren Sapp is horrible. I always hated when Tampa would line him up as a third TE in goalline situation and he'd always be wide open for the TD. But it was the Chad Clifton hit that made me hate him even moreso than I already did.

XWP.

but I like the Gameplan, your just going to have to deal with that.

I like warren sapp too, just to annoy you mostly.

I remember Sapp was quoted once as saying when he'd be out at away games, people runnning the local restaurants he went to would try to poison him with depressants and stuff. DJ Gallo then wrote a fake article where Sapp "said" they were poisoning him with saturated fats.

That's a perfectly plausible story (I mean the real one, not DJ Gallo's one).

here's to another football legend putting up the cleats for good...he had an outstanding career in which included a SuperBowl Victory back in 2002 and his numbers for a defensive lineman stand alone as one of the best.....must respect

I for one am so happy about this. I never liked him and felt he was an extremely overrated player.

I dont know. He was a good DT. I dont really care for him because of his mouth and his antics. I remember when he said if he was Ray Lewis he would have punched Shannon Sharpe in the mouth for defending him on media day at the Superbowl. What a jerk.

The Rock.

Wow, The People's Champion was backup to The People's Hamburger... very cool. Did The Rock ever get much game time at the U?

Nope, Sapp played most of the time. He pretty much ended The Rock's football career.

And I would have thought that the rock would get some decent field time, because he was rated on of the top 10 defensive tackle prospects in the nation coming out of high school.

Maybe you can get away with giving the opposing QB a Rock Bottom in high school, but that nonsense doesn't fly in college.

any man that can make his eyebrow go past his hairline does not deserve a 15 yard penalty.

I think the NCAA Rules Committee is going to disagree with you on that one.

I actually think he's one of the best DT's to ever play. certainly no one trick pony, he was a great all around player, may have been really chatty but if you ask his former Buccaneer teammates he was the leader of that team. let's see:

Great Run Stopper CHECK!

Great Pass Rusher CHECK!

Multiple Pro Bowls CHECK!

DPOY CHECK!

Super Bowl Ring CHECK!

(that's alot of checking, but thats a misconception of my poker game :P)

he's got the reputation, the numbers and the hardware to back it all up. hall of famer in my book! B)

Why did he go out and lose 50 pounds? Everyone was applauding him at the start of the season for doing it. I was wondering how he was going to stop run.

Man being right is awesome.

Don't think he was overrated as a player. 96 sacks as an interior lineman is pretty impressive.

That's nothing, I get 96 sacks a game in my flag football league.

Sacks are overrated in flag football. It's all about run defense and INT's.

tackle is much more fun and a thrill to live in the heat of the moment...and you get to expereience that feeling that the pro's get to if only for just a moment's worth of time......and laying out some dude gives you the feeling of self satisfaction and thrill to do it again and again.....i did! :)
