28 posts in this topic

Contrary to the player fans see screaming at the top his lungs as he stalks out of the Ravens' tunnel, Ray Lewis is typically subdued in the week leading up to games. But last week, with all the hype surrounding the Ravens-Jets season-opening Monday night showdown reaching a fevered pitch, Lewis just couldn't hold his tongue anymore. "I'm going to be very careful with this," Lewis started with.

No matter how good our offense does or doesn't get in the future, Ray Lewis is and will ALWAYS be the single greatest Baltimore Ravens player of all time. Not to mention a good argument for the single greatest defensive player of all time. End of story.

Anybody can say he's old and yes for football he's up there but you can not find anyone in this league that has the fire this man does after so many hard fought season's.All I can say to the haters out there and yes some of the younger fans out there just shut up and watch one of the last old school style players play what will be his last few years but some of the best years to remember. When he's gone there might not and probaly will not be another one like him.Ray Lewis will always be my favotrite and I will compare anybody after him to how he played but that is probaly a level that will never be reached.Go Ravens!

He better be a defensive coordinator for us when he retires, that all im saying. With those kinds of skills (not just physical)hes a natural born leader. Whether its football, kids, military...theres not many humans that have that kind of influence on all that surround him. Please Ray, if youre reading...Coach this defense when you hang up the cleats~!!!

I agree with you man. I just don't see Ray stepping away from the game when he is done playing and I really can't see him sitting behind some desk on a network talking about football either.

No one knows what Ray will do when he retires, when he retires, he is gonna get a ton of offers. Everything from the networks to NFL teams.lets hope the Ravens offer him a job and can keep him here in Baltimore.

Ray is truly one of a kind! Many before him were great play makers & hard hitters but, few had the ability to read offenses and recognize plays. That's what separates him and makes him the best.

It amazes me that a man can be so humble, spiritual and possess such a huge heart, until he walks on the field. Then he becomes the warrior, the raging beast, the living legend!

@1defense it's not being fair weather to be open minded to the fact that someone better might come along at the mlb position now there will never be another total package like ray ever. his leadership and natural instincts coupled with his athletic ability are what makes him irreplaceable

Ray is the voice of the Ravens..period.A lot of these guys on defense came to Baltimore just to be on his team;that's why our defense, even in the not so good years, still was ranked very high.I still think that"play like a Raven" slogan must have had him in mind.

tdwins - i think the real slogan reads "Play like a Ray-ven"

nutcase - it's Ray's total package that says there will never be a mlb comparable to him.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong but is Ray not the only player to receive Defensive Player of the Year twice?

Dam, i love this guy! "Ray is the Ravens", john said it best. No one will ever compare to this man. He has changed the game of football in so many differant way on, and off the feild. Hes also touched like lives of millions includong my self by sending the word of god. If this man could play until he was 100 id be that happiest guy on earth. The passion he plays with every down, and the leadership he has brought to our team should be an inspration to us all. There is only one Ray Lewis.
