NFL Network Has Ravens In Top Three Of Power Rankings!

18 posts in this topic

I was cruising NFL.com when I saw the "rank your teams power ranking" so... of course clicked on it. After I submitted my ranking (hummm...wonder which team was #1? lol) It showed me the comparison of my picks versus experts and other fans.

I expected the usual just under 10 ranking that most experts feel safe giving but to my surprise the Ravens are number 3. Don't get me wrong, I agree fully I just didn't expect the nod from these guys so quickly. Even better, other fans (to date) have us as #4. Much better than polls from other "experts". This....has made my day!!!! :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

ESPN has us at 3. Fox has us at......forget what Fox says, they're crazy!

The problem with Fox's rankings is that there is only one contributor. On ESPN John Clayton's ridiculous rankings are cancelled out to some extent by three other contributors. The guy from Fox has more ridiculous rankings than Clayton and has no one else to cancel him out.

I'm desensitized hearing negatives about our Ravens. It's a bonus to have ESPN or other network promoting us. If not, I'm ok with it cuz as long as I like it, I would be careless about what others say.

I remember last year when we were 3-0 ESPN put us at #1.

But like all other power rankings, it's just opinions of teams ranked by order of their record.

This is why power rankings mean nothing. Most of these writers only catch highlights of each game..if that. Looking at the score of the Ravens-Jets game one would thing wow it was 10-9..very close. The game should have been a blow out win for the Ravens and everyone who saw that game knows it.

i really think the score told the outcome of the game a really close hard fought game. the jets could have won that game because they had just as many chances as we did. it came down to our defense showing up for us and not making a bunch of dumb mistakes.

Those were the days, you remember how excited we were about that? How did that end up for us? A decent year but now superbowl.

These rankings are fun to look at and critique. Gives us something to talk about.

before the season, Rich Eisen, MR NFL network, picked the Ravens to win the Super Bowl , so I think they are finally realizing we are really good!

We were #1 last year at some point, so they don't really matter IMO. Especially this early in the season.

Still is nice to hear positive things.

I just watching the preview video of the Ravens vs Bengals game on NFL.com and the narrator said the Ravens are coming off of an upset win over the Jets.

And here i though i was watching too playoff caliber SuperBowl contending team square off on Monday night. Didn't know we pulled an upset. I wonder what it will be this week when we beat the Bengals?

All of these so called experts have their opinions the same as we fans do. Hell Keyshawn and Carter's reasons for picking the Jets were that Keyshawn though the Jets and Sanchez were the more balanced team, and Carter was picking the Jets because he brought into all the hype.

Since when is a great defense, ground and pound offense and a poor decision maker at QB become more balanced then a great defense, top 5 rushing attack, quality 3rd year QB, Boldin, Mason, TJ and Heap? Real that smart Keyshawn.

As for Carter buyin into the hype, well he actually played in the NFL, since when does hype win anything?

so i don't really put too much if anything into what these guy say or the rankings they have.

ever since we had Joe Flacco....the media has been giving us more respect.

The media wants Joe Flacco to be a star! Ron "jaws" jawaroski (spelling?)has been calling joe flacco elite since the middle of last season.

Mike Ditka picked Ravens to win the superbowl last week before we played the Jets.

With Joe Flacco....we have been winnning primtime and big playoff games. In order to get respect we have to knock- off people like the Pats, colts, and steelers in the playoffs.

Power rankings are a fun conversation topic but are too fickle to be counted on. They are basically someone's opinion and Purock pointed out earlier that some of these guys catch highlights at best. You can be number one one day and out of the top 10 the next.
