Amazing, Rex Is At It Again.

From fanball.com:

Rex Ryan already stirring the Week 2 pot

Fresh off of a humbling defeat at the hands of the Ravens on Monday evening, Jets coach Rex Ryan immediately began talking trash about his Week 2 opponent, the Patriots, according to the New York Daily News. "There's only one guy in this league that can cover Randy Moss," Ryan said. "And that's Darrelle Revis. Nobody else."

Our View: Even though his team got majorly humbled by the Ravens on Monday, Ryan has already decided to give the Patriots some bulletin board material for Sunday. A motivated Randy Moss is not something anybody, Darrelle Revis included, wants to deal with.

Wow, will this guy ever learn???

And cue Wes Welker with the huge game. Cromartie & Wilson are no match for Welker and Brady.

Welker is too small and agile for Cromartie to handle with his big frame. Ironically a guy like Chris Carr is ideal for covering someone like Welker(not saying Carr is capable of shutting Welker down, just saying someone of similiar build is ideal to cover Welker)

Yup. And didn't Brady just recently announce his hatred for the Jets? I certainly wish I had Welker on my fantasy team! :D

Yeah the Jets fans on their forum are begging Rex to put Revis on Welker and double Moss.

Frankly thats the way to go. Welker is the key to their offense. In the playoff game last year that Welker missed it was clear their offense wasn't the same.

But Rex already announced Revis will be on Moss. Guess Rex knows best.

Oh, Rex Ryan is publicly making a fool of himself again? *yawn* What else is new? He opened his mouth about last week's game and we punched him in said mouth. Patriots are going for the knock out punch. Let's hear Ryan talk Super Bowl when they start 0-2.

I thought Revis said something last year about Moss being a chump or something to that effect, so the gloves have already been thrown down. I hope Moss torches them.

I don't see how this is bulletin board material. It's more of a compliment being paid to Randy Moss if anything.

Moss himself even said that Revis humbled him last year. Went as far as saying that Revis changed the way Moss plays the receiver position.

You excited to see [Jets cornerback] Darrelle Revis [who has had success containing Moss]?

"Am I excited to see Revis? I think I am, because there was a lot of talk last year. And I’m not taking anything from him, he did do some good things last year to be the shutdown corner that he is. And I’m not scared to say this – I prided my offseason on Revis. Like I said, I take pride in what I do, but what he did last year is something that … He opened my eyes up as a wide receiver, that there was a cornerback out here that I really had to get on my ‘A’ game. So I prided my offseason on staying off of Revis Island."

I guess we (the entire football world) find it hilarious that big Rex can't keep his yapper shut. That's all....nothing more, nothing less.

Its getting old having to listen to him all day long.....he needs to spend that time working on developing an offense to compliment the defense. Just my opinion.

I'm just glad we can put Rex in the rearview mirror now. Let's move on with our season. That was too much build up for the first game, especially w/ Rex.

Unless Sanchez learns how to throw down-field, they definitely won't make it to the post-season.

If I were Rex, I'd spend more time talking to the offense about how to move the football down field and to Wilson and Cromartie about how to actually play cornerback and less time talking to media about how they're going to win the Super Bowl.

This is where Rex loses me as a good head coach. I understand firing up your team for an upcoming game, it works.

But he puts too much pressure on his team with his trash talk, like in the off season where he guaranteed a superbowl, imagine how much pressure that puts on a young developing QB in Mark Sanchez, all of a sudden, Rex expects the world from him after a sub-par year. Not only that but they constantly tell him to check it down, not look downfield.

Mark played how many seasons at USC? He should NOT be a starting QB in this league, if anything, he should be riding the bench for a year or two and learning the fundamentals instead of being shoved out there prematurely in the New York media. I think this will significantly hurt his development in the long run and it's unfortunately in the hands of Rex.

Yeah, that's clearly it...it couldn't possibly be that we are marvelling at how big a bullet the team dodged by not hiring him. I recently thought he was funny, but this is just ridiculous.

Edit: HAHAHA. I didn't even realize while I typed it. Look at my completely unintentional pun. Hilarious, and completely subconscious. Big bullet, I can't stop laughing even if it isn't that funny...

I can't find a link to a story but I could have swore that during the game Monday night a reporter mentioned that Rex Ryan is being investigated for illegally visiting a college team, or a practice, something like that. Anybody else hear this story, aside from the female reporter story?

Well I just don't get it, Rex is talking about his Jets and the team they play this week the Pats, who cares what he says. You'd think people would be thinking about the upcoming Bengals, and how we didn't beat them once last year.

Sizzle has a point... fact is, we did not beat the Bengals once last year... lets just turn our attention to that game, and away from the Jets/Patriots game, which hardly has any meaning at all to us if we can win the next game, and keep doing that almost every week.

On a side note, who is glad we didn't take Kyle Wilson with that 25th pick in the draft?? I sure am.. not only did we get good depth, we got some pretty darn good players. And our secondary, while not amazing, is pretty decent. Add that to the fact that Wilson looked overmatched in the last game against Housh, it looks like a pretty good choice by the Oz.

I disagree. I'm not the player, I'm a fan. I don't have to focus on the next team because all I do on Sundays is sit around and hope for a win. Let the players focus on the game.

On that note I'm not sure who I'd rather see lose, the Jets or Pats. Is there a way that both teams can look utterly disgraceful and come out disappointed from the same game (barring injury)?

That's right cause we (as us in this thread) are playing in this game, we should concentrate on the Bengals. Geez guys, we're fans on a message boards. We just like to talk about anything and everything.

Rex has ties to us, we just finished beating them, its a talking point.

I'd like to see Brady banged up a little, but at the same time see the Pats win. Maybe if Ryan gets beat a second time and goes 0-2, he'll shut up for a while and focus on his team.

Mike Murdock once said, “Stop looking at where you have been and start looking at where you can be.” So instead of wasting time thinking, "Oh no... what has so-and-so said today???" We should be thinking, "Lets talk about our team shutting up the critics, and shutting up the trash talkers." Come on, fact is we're playing the Bengals this week. If we were playing the Bills, I'd be with ya, but we have to talk about Ocho Stinko, not Ryan.

We have more storylines to talk about, such as OchoCinco's trash talking us, and also the fact that we didn't beat the Bengals last year, and as a result we didn't win the Division, than to waste time thinking about two other teams that aren't even in our own Division. If they weren't in the AFC, I'd be laughing at you all for even caring.

Where the heck is TSizzle at lol?? I was trying to help him out, and he just up and left in the heat of things haha.

I hope the Patriots BLOW them out. Like 38-10 blowout. Well considering their offense cant score a TD, 38-9. And I hope Moss gets 100+ yrds.

I'm bored of that. It seems like I have been talking about that on here for 3 straight years. This whole Rex Ryan and us playing them is a pretty new thing for us.

You have to let it run its course. We'll get bored of Rex as well.

You'll have to forgive me for my rant, because I'm sort of new at the topics of discussion during the season. I'm sure you all do get tired of hearing the same things over and over again, especially when the two teams play twice a year. So for that, I'm sorry.
