Is The Mountian Ready For Sunday?

17 posts in this topic

According to Harbs, he won't be ready for week 1 but week 2, so it's a Yes. Benson is going to eat the grass all day long.

PS: if we can stop the Jets running game, it's pretty much we can stop any running game.

I don't know. I heard on the radio that Cody is still walking on his knee gingerly, and that this knee injury will continue to linger.

I doubt he makes it to the field on Sunday. Well at least we got to see one draft pick make a big play on Monday.

I don't think the Jets have the best backfield in the game...so

Jets run game was highly overrated...id be much more worried about the RB that ran all over us last year in Benson.

Ummm what makes you think the Jets rushing game is so great. They were #1 last year because every play was a run. You saw how good Sanchez is... they clearly are trying to preserve him lol. Greene is a good RB but he's no where near guys like AP, Rice, Johnson, Jones-Drew, Benson, and Jackson.

They do have a good run-blocking O line but it isn't as good this year as last year because they lost Faneca.

Either way I'm never scared about RBs because we're the Ravens and no one (except Benson apparently :34853_brickwall: ) can really run on us. I think last year against the Bengals was a fluke and we'll take it to them this game. They got exposed against NE and I think we have a better defense and a comparable offense.

As for Cody I can't wait to see him back on the field eating up RBs like chicken nuggets.

We HAVE to stop Benson! The Pats did it for 2 qtrs and the Bengals offense looked horrible.

We'll stop Benson this year. Or D-line is healthy and revamped. Gregg is two years removed from knee surgery, Suggs has switched on Beast mode, Ngata is on a whole new level, our young LBs are a year older and we have injected new faces with Redding and Cody.

I can't see Benson having the same success against this D-Line.

Lets face it. With few exceptions, we drafted Cody for this game. Benson embarrassed us last year twice. We need Mount Cody in this one. Frankly, I would love to see our front 3 composed of Cody, Ngata, and Gregg especially on 1st down.

It's not our d-line I'm worried about.

I'm just hoping we can come out and do what the Pats did last Game. Patriots were starting a rookie CB with Devin McCourty and 2nd year man Butler. So very very inexperienced in their CB ranks.

They came out stopped the run and the pass, put points up on the board. And watched the Bengals scramble in garbage time to come back.

First let me start by saying, the Bengals ran the ball down our throats last year, for whatever reason. What they did wasn't a fluke or luck. I give them all the props for doing what many other teams can't do once, they did twice.

Now with that said. I think we got caught up in the hype last season. Us making the AFCC Game with a new coaching staff and rookie QB, kinda of affected us a year later imo. I get the feeling that the Ravens had this mentality of we have unfinished business and nothing else matter except for winning that one extra game to get into the Super Bowl. However we failed to play up to our fullest potential during the games we needed to win just to get into the playoffs, to even have a shot at winning that one extra game.

I sat back and watched the Jets game and couldn't help but to think that the 2010 Jets were nothing more then the 2009 Ravens in Green. It also made my feelings towards the 09 season even stronger, and my feelings are that we didn't show up to play at our fullest and greatest potential 100% of the time last season.

My reason for saying this is because i look back at both Bengals games and the Baltimore Ravens team that took the field in those games were almost unidentifiable. That is one of the main reasons i feel the Bengals had major success against us. The offense really failed us in both games last season. The Bengals gameplan was fill the box and sit on Clayton and Mason's routes.

This year they won't be able to do that with the weapons we have. So having our offense be able to actually score points in this game. It will be hard for the Bengals to stick to the running game as much as the Jets did. Their running game is the foundation of the offense regardless of the weapons on the outside. If the Bengals attempt to attack our secondary without getting the run game going first, it will be a huge mistake imo.

Both teams will look to get the running game going and the team that can do it best and more consistent will win. I think that is the Ravens. I don't really like that Bengals Oline and i can't see them having success against our front 7 vs the run or the pass.

If he can go, Cody will be huge in this game. Both he and Ngata will clog running lanes all day.

Yeah, we got gashed a couple of times, and ended up giving up over 100 yards total on the ground, so there is some concern... once Cody gets in there, I think we'll be impossible to run on.
