Ps3 Connection Issues

7 posts in this topic

So I've moved into a new apartment and tried to connect my PS3 through my Mac which I'm running on wireless broadband, I'm having trouble connecting both through the ethernet cable and wireless as it won't connect citing IP or DSL issues.

Any ideas?

theres your first problem, but

Go to System Prefs -> Sharing. Depending on your version of OS X, you should be able to select Internet Sharing and then specify a port over which to share it. Select Ethernet and... hopefully that will do it! Connect up your PS3 and see what happens...

Yeah I'm kind new to this.

It's weird, prefs > network says ethernet is connected, sharing through ethernet is switched on but it says DNS error has occurred during communication with server.

Sounds like something is trying to assign a fixed IP address, which is either in conflict or invalid.

Usually I'd say you'll have to access the router menu, but I am unsure how plugging in through a computer works.

It's picking up the wireless from my mac now but still no luck getting online.

I've tried following youtube videos but it always succeeds with ip address and fails at internet connection citing the same DNS error.
