Grading The Running Game

32 posts in this topic

The run game did its job, kept the Jets D pulled up into a ton of run blitz packages, which left our receivers in miss match situations.

Run Game Game Plan Effectiveness A+
Run Game Efectiveness by the stats - D

Two different ways of looking at it...

Against the Bungles, the run game will still be respected enough to open up the passing, and when they fall into coverage, the run game will chew up yards...it is football.

How can it be graded against the JETS! LOL. If anything I would say it was an strong B too just because with Rice, McGahee and McClain all running the ball, it actually caused a team that gave up 180 yards passing per game, to draw attention away from the pass so Flacco could throw for 250 yards. And the Jets Secondary only got better in the offsesson IMO. Did they give up 250 yards to ANYONE last season?

Plus it was in their new stadium AND Monday night football! To me if a RB group can cause a team like the Jets to allow 250 yards passing, they're doing their job fairly well. If Flacco didn't pass for that many yards, 110 to Boldin, what SHOULD have been another TD to Heap and he was limited to under 200 yards, then Rice and McGgahee and what not wouldn't have meant much to the game.
