Will gaither be back to play against the bengals? I thought yanda did a ok job but i think our o-line will be even better when he is at guard and gaither at rt yanda really helps open up the middle of the line running for ray rice.

We'll probably no later in the week. A piece of good news regarding him is, according to Rotoworld, he's put on 19 pounds since going down with the injury.

I hope he's back by the Bengals game, but I'd say chances of that are slim to none. Personally, I want to see the team give Cousins another shot at RT, just to see how much he's improved. Yanda needs to stay at guard, where I beleive he has pro bowler potential. Gaither needs to get well soon.

Cousins can take a hit on weaker opponents like the browns. For Cinnci? Hell no.

well you can't baby him forever, we want cousins to ball with the best so we gotta test him against the best. Doesn't mean anything if he holds his own vs scrubs in cleveland.

He cant hold up against the best, Woodley tore him to shreds last year. I for one think Harbaugh made the correct choice goign with Yanda at tackle last night, regardless if Chester at RG is only 305 pounds, Cousins doesnt have it yet.

well the point would be to see how much he's improved. I didn't really pay attention to him in the pre season how'd he do?

Didn't play all that much. He had that throat illness that kept him out for a few weeks.

19 pounds. Ouch. Hope in the meantime, Gaither has been working with the strength and conditioning coach

No the weight gain is a good thing. He had dropped around 30 this offseason. He needs to bulk up again

It has crossed my mind more than once that he has been injured and unable to practice or play simply to put some weight back on. Harbs was obviously pissed when Gaither showed up 30 pounds underweight. And its not like the guy is going to put the weigh back on busting his *** in practice and games. Just a thought.

You're right. The story is foggy but it's thought that he lost the weight to help alleviate some of the pain from his foot injury. He won't gain it back by playing, you're right, he just has to get his diet and workout regiment back on track. Sounds like he's doing that, though.

The ravens cant risk playing cousins ina game againt a team like cincy. It is no time to "see how much hes improved". RT is a vital position and bad play from that position can be the difference from a W and a L. Just look at the cowboys for example just this past sunday. Id rather see harewood in there before cousins, and id definitely rather see yanda

One thing about having gather back is yanda does OK filling it but yanda really is close to a pro bowl RG IMO and he's a MAYBE above avg RT. Moving him inside gives us such a advantage and our team plays so much better.

Even if he is available, I wouldn't expect to see him. Gaither is no where near game shape. I mean the guy hasn't practiced since the beginning of camp. It will take weeks of practice to get him back in playing shape once he becomes available, which hasn't been announced as of yet.

Cousins is still our best option at this point, if he can play this week, and I would expect to see Cam to continue to use the overloaded line, as in the Jets game.

Gaither played well against Willfork last year.
[/quote]
I don't recall exactly, but our LT (last year) faired well against their NT? I could be wrong, but that's not a matchup that should have taken place much, if at all.

Anyone else know for sure?

A little off topic but David Hale was just released, we just seem hit and miss with our o-line projects.

Good o-linemen don't grow on trees.

Well, Gaither is out for week two, per Rotoworld and Aaron Wilson's Twitter.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of this. Do we trade him to get compensation now (draft picks, players)? Or do we just sit and wait for him to be healthy and hope that Marshal can fill in and be effective?

Question? What's the difference in this guy not being able to play as opposed to a guy like Ed Reed or Webb not being able to play?

The guy was clearly hurt in TC even though most people wanted to treat him like he was faking.

Now the guy is rehabing just like Reed to get back and people are talking about being tried of him and wanting to trade him. I don't get it.

Can someone with better knowlegde of why Gaither is public enemy #1 please explain all the hate towards this guy?

His demand for a contract (restructuring?) could be part of it, his inability to participate in the OTA's due to a bad attitude, his almost Haynesworthian (heh) work ethic... just some of the reasons I dislike him.

Show proof of all of this beside some article from Preston and i'll understand. Gaither was a RFA and wanted a long term deal. What player in his position wouldn't want that. The guy didn't pull a McNiel or Vicent Jackson on us.

He didn't participate in OTA's because he was off working out with his own personal trainer to rehab his foot. Ray wasn't at OTA's, Suggs wasn't there, Ed wasn't there, so why bash this kid?

Haynesworth how? Albert got paid and still didn't want to should up and play. Gaither signed his contract and showed up to camp, he didn't fail a conditioning test. He didn't refuse to play RT, he actually pushed himself to get back onto the field and surprise surprise he hurt himself worse.

So again, I really don't understand where all the hate for this guy is coming from.

Ray & Suggs showed up fit and healthy. Gaither did not.

Gaither was very well in shape, he just dropped more weight then the coaches would have like. Gaither actually hurt his foot in OTAs, so i still don't see where all the hate is coming from.

Now if you are gonna say the guy is injury prone, i'd agree. If you say the guy made a mistake by losing 29 pounds, i'd agree. But for people to talk about trading this guy, and all the hate he is receiving, i just don't get it.

You mean, sort of exactly like Ed Reed was alluding to? I'm with RF23 here; the man was injured, and clearly so. Give him time.

Wow. You pretty much single-handedly shut up Gaither bashers. Nice job man. I'll admit, I was a bit curious about his injury, but seeing your points, how could I not change my opinion?

You know what, it's not even about me trying to shut anybody up, because i don't get into the whole supporters/basher war that seem to be popular among us Ravens fans. I love the Ravens sure, but i'm not gonna act like some things that happen aren't bad.

It's just i can't see how anyone can justify trading or just parting ways with one of our better Olineman, just because he has missed the first 2 game, or because he was injured in camp, or for whatever reason most people have.

Gaither makes our Oline better, which in turn makes our offense better. I just don't understand where all the Haynesworth and team cancer talk comes from. Regardless of what you hear out of other peoples mouths, Gaither hasn't said or done anything to suggest he doesn't want to be a Baltimore Raven.
