Broncos Acquisition!

Just got ESPN mobile alert:

The Broncos have acquired Laurence Maroney from the Patriots.

I guess this means Moreno's injury status is long term? I haven't been paying attention, understandably.

What??? I guess they want some sort of backup. I wouldn't be too worried about Moreno he looked pretty good against Jax. He did look sluggish at time but the temp was above 100 degrees.

Hopefully they don't turn this into another three headed mess.

Moreno and Buckhalter. Moreno is the lead dog. But Buckhalter is a big option on throwing downs.

They have the Benjavarus Ellis guy.

Honestly, I expect Patriots with two 1st Rd picks, for them to definitely go RB with one of them.

I still can't believe that trade. Damn the Raiders! The Pats already look they've reloaded and could be on their way back to being a major power and the Raiders basically handed them another tool they'll turn into a weapon.

I pray they don't get Mark Ingram or Ryan Williams

I see this as insurance as buckhalter has been injured quite often.

So has Moreno. But in the same line, so has Maroney.

From fanball.com:

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots have traded running back Laurence Maroney and their 2011 sixth-round draft pick to the Denver Broncos. In exchange, New England is receiving Denver's 2011 fourth round pick.

Our View: A move rich with implications, as not only does it leave New England with an incredibly shaky back-field quartet (Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk, BenJarvus Green-Ellis and and Fred Taylor), it also suggests that Knowshon Moreno's hamstring injury could be turning into a lingering problem. It could also mean Correll Buckhalter is destined for release. Even if Moreno is perfectly healthy and Buckhalter remains on the roster, Maroney should have greater fantasy value in Denver than in New England, as it was clear he was never getting out of coach Bill Belichick's doghouse.

Interesting move. It seems that any RB that plays for Denver gets hurt. I'm pretty sure Maroney didn't play week 1 because of a thigh issue. Denver is having problems with RB durability, so they trade for one that has had injury problems in the past. Strange.

It pretty much didn't cost Denver anything to bring Maroney in. They swapped 2 picks moving them back 2 rounds. It's an easy deal for the Broncos to make.

Sounds like the Pats are just sick of him, and decided to just make a move.

You would've thought the Packers might be interested.
