Turner To Falcons

Falcons sign FA RB Turner

To be honest, this move kind of surprised me, because the falcons have Jerious Norwood, A player I consider to be one of the best young backs around.

And to make a move for one of the most highly rated, but unproven running backs in the FA, seems odd given the amount of glaring team needs that they have, running back not really being one.

Any thoughts?

I like Norwood but I dont think he's an every down back. Anyways, this leads the way for Warrick Dunn to be released, so I am not very surprised. This also means that if Miami trades the first pick to a McFadden seeker, Atlanta is taking Ryan.

Atlanta made a great move in turner. I like that pick up a lot. He is gonna be a premier back in this league. Great talent. If dunn comes back that is gonna be an exciting run combo. If they somehow pick up mcfadden....which at this point seems unlikely we could be looking at one of the best RB squads right now in football.

If they pick up ryan i wont lose any sleep cuz that means a VERY GOOD DL or OL is coming our way and dont expect ozzie to mis that opportunity. With julius jones on the market and all the talk around dallas, if somehow they are able to trade for miamis 1st pick that will be cool with me 2. for 1 it means mcfadden will be a NFC back, and 2 thats just another pick closer to landing one of the VERY BEST in this draft.

Nice pick up by the Falcons. The only thing that bugs me is why did he want to be a Falcon. I mean it looks like all you're going to hear is Vick news and D-Hall news. I wouldn't want to put up with all that all day.

give me a million dollars ill wear a dress everyday, throw palm palms around, and do twirls for the falcons. when you look at you bank statement and see 7 figures as the balance i think any talk you hear about vick or hall means nothing at the end of the day.

I don't think Michael Turner is an every down back either. It'll be interesting to see how the touches go. I think the Falcons will take a long hard look at Jake Long now.

well done on their part....i think Turner will provide Stability and leadership to the teamand the running back position...both of which. are things that Really needed to be addressed with Atlanta right now and in the near as well as Far future of things. plus i think that with Turners Athletic ability, leadership, poise, vision....and everything else he may have.....really adds at least a little bit more depth into what they are trying to do.

If you were given a choice between backing up LT in San Diego, or being THE MAN in Atlanta....what would you do?

I don't think the Vick and Hall talk will bother him much.....considering all he's heard with the Chargers is LT this and LT that....

Well looks like Dunn wants to be released. Heard it on ESPN. I'll try and find the link.

Dunn counts a cool 7 million or so against their cap and he's well over 30. He will get his wish by the draft.

Leadership?

If you're looking for leadership, you don't pluck a disgrunted backup running back out of the FA.

talented he may be, but he's not a guy to build your team around.

I agree. Turner is not a seasoned veteran who can bring leadership. He wasnt a leader on his former team, the team that drafted him. Coming into Atlanta he isnt going to just be thrusted into that role of team leader. When Dunn is gone they are going to look to someone who was on the roster last season to be a team leader.

he COULD become a leader is what i meant by saying that kind of thing....i mean he would have to of learned at least a few things being the NFL's MVPs Back up.....he just cant leave a place like that and leave someone like L.T. without having to learn something about leadership and how to play the position.

the current trend is two have two solid RB's, too bad Vick is an idiot this could have been their best trio of runners since DVD (Dunn, Vick, Duckett)

does that mean atlanta goes after mcfadden still?

No, I think that means they go after Ryan. They already have two solid backs in Turner and Norwood. Going after McFadden would be a waste of money, even though some would argue going after Turner was a waste of money.

if they are hoping to maintain a strong rushing game, they should go after Jake Long or Ryan Clady. its hard to pass up on a dude like McFadden, but when you have two good RB's I don't see a reason to try and crowd the backfield.

Well I wouldn't think so. I mean Jwood and Turner are both pretty good HBs. I think the Falcons would try an address some of their other needs with the 3rd pick in the draft.

I honestly think that Mike Smith is going to turn his team into Jacksonville.

Run first, Andre Woodson holds the NCAA record for most attempts without an interception. I'm thinking they either look at Jake Long or Glenn Dorsey.

If I were the Falcons I'd go with Glenn Dorsey. Dude is a freak of nature.

Now there is some crap about his Tibia that Glenn has said he's played with for two years and has never noticed. Despite it not affecting his play, he could slip in the draft. If he falls to the Bengals I'm going to be pissed.
