Espn Head Coach Approval Ratings

ESPN's James Walker of the AFC North Blog linked this in one of his posts today. It polls fans on if they approve of the job the HC's of their favorite (and not-so favorite...lol) teams are doing. It's still early (obviously) but it could be a fun thing to track throughout the season, especially considering how many (fickle) fair-weather fans there are in today's era of the NFL and the internet.

Right now Harbaugh has about 170 votes at a 87% approval rate. I voted in favor of Harbaugh. Some may wait until after the Jets game to vote but even if we lose - which I have a feeling we won't - I still like the way this team is coming together and one game doesn't make a season anyway. Harbaugh's thinking Dynasty, and there's no reason to think he can't make it happen with the team we have here in Baltimore.

So awesome to be a Ravens fan!

Sidenotes:
~Not surprisingly, Gary Kubiak tops the list with 510 votes at 93% approval after (finally) beating the Colts on opening day.
~I found this (kinda) funny, the worst 5 HC approval ratings (from best to worst) are:
Andy Reid (Eagles - 269 votes @ 20%)
Lovie Smith (Bears - 786 votes @ 17%)
Tom Cable (Raiders - 164 votes @ 17%)
Wade Phillips (Cowboys - 467 votes @ 13%)
Brad Childress (Vikings - 2,747 votes @ 13%)
Man those Vikes fans are peeved lol. They turned out in droves pretty quick to call for their coaches head even though they were 1 penalty (less) away from winning their debut game against the Skins but well, it happens. Almost feel bad for Andy Reid, almost.
~Even funnier is if you expand that list from 5 to 10 worst approval ratings, the first two names to pop up are Mangini (319@25%) and Marvin (252@27%)
~Mike Tomlin is 1% above Harbaugh with 1,041 votes @ 88%
~Keep in mind, all stats are being updated constantly, and are likely to change immediately from the time I post this lol.

Anyways, what do you think? Is Harbaugh doing a good job or do you think maybe we would've been better off if we had made Rex (or someone else) our HC?

Fan votes - eh..

It would be interesting if there was an anonymous players' poll with the same question. Sports Illustrated sometimes runs player polls, those are always good.

Yeah it's obviously not a scientific poll by any stretch of the imagination since you can vote multiple times and for multiple teams HC's but I guess they figure the genuine fan votes will outweigh the people out their just tryin to be dumb and rate another HC poorly for w/e reason.

Anyway, just figured I'd post it since some poeple might get a kick out of it lol.

I think this is pretty cool, and the thing is it charts for every week of the season so you can see how high a coach's approval was at the beginning toward the end. Wade Phillips is now down to 12% lol those Cowboy fans are harsh lol.

Tomlin is now at 89% and Harbs is at 88%. I think this will be interesting to see where Norv Turner ranks if the Chiefs pull off the upset tonight lol.

I looked back at the 2009 graph and I find it funny how Josh McDaniels started at 39% in week 1 last year, moved up to 71% than 92%, and it stayed in the 90's until Week 8 and went down hill to finish with 27%. McDaniels is at a 27% right now for this season.
