Eh, not too excited about this..

Cameron has publicly expressed that he didn't want to take Yanda away from RG, so this is a little surprising. I guess the coaches didn't want to put Moll or Cousins out there for an extended period of time. Hopefully Yanda improved since the last time we saw him at RT - that was a trainwreck.

Missin' Gaither :(

I think we should be fine at O-Line untill Gaither returns. Hopefully Yanda steps in nicely(as does Chester into Yandas position)

MOD EDIT: Changed "Grubbs" to "Chester", avoiding confusion :)

? You said Chester was starting at RG. That is Yanda's position. Grubbs plays LG.

Love this move. Chester is a great guard, not as great as Yanda but Yanda is better than Moll, if you get my drift.

I agree. I think Chester is a better RG than Moll is a RT. I just wonder what this means about Cousins. I hope they scratched him because of the concussion and not because he looked awful in practice.

No apology needed. I was just making sure.

Chester is an underrated guard. I just hope Yanda can hold his own. Like Berad said, Yanda didn't look good the last time he played RT.

Really there is no better time for a guy like Yanda to redeam himself at RT then Monday Night, Season opener in NY against the Jets. Maybe its a test to see if he can be the guy at RT if Gaither is out for longer than we expected(or suffers another injury) and if Chester can be the guy at RG filling in for Yanda.

I thought Moll played pretty well in the preseason. My concern is this game will be more mental than anything. The Jests don't have 1 or 2 dominant pass rushers. They have several above average guys and their best (Pace) will miss the game. It is all about reading the blitzes. The coaches probably trust Yanda more in that regard.

The move might be permanent with how they tagged Gaither with a first round tender earlier on in March. That makes it KINDA obvious that the team was in all likelihood going to shift the offensive line around at some point. Gaither had a tender put on him March 3rd was it? So it being 7 weeks from the draft (at that point), I don't know if the Ravens planned on taking another O-lineman or not.

It probably doesn't help his trade value if he doesn't play much even when he does come back, but he is Jared Gaither so it may not effect it at all. Cousins, Yanda and Chester were all 2nd or 3rd round picks if I remember correctly. Maybe the Ravens are trying to boost one of their trade values.

I don't see Gaither returning as a Raven next year IMO. With the first-round tender being applied earlier in the offseason, the current injury and how the offensive line is being moved around, it just seems unlikely that he'll be back. The tender being reason #1.

I'd feel more comfortable with this if Yanda took reps at RT during the off season. I know he's played there before but I still would have liked time for my line to gel.

This further cements my thought of us keeping Heap in more for blocking duties tonight as opposed to using him as a receiving threat.

I'll take Yanda over Cousins in this game. I think Cousins will let the Jets blitzers get inside his head to much. Yanda will play solid, he'll get beat with talent on occasion, but he'll play tough.

Yeah I would agree. Plus with Dickson and Pitta we could actually run a 2 TE set make it look like Heap will go out but keep him in to block and only send Dickson/Pitta out.

This will be interesting... all I know is if we can get through this night with a win and our offensive line in tact I'll be happy.

Chester.

Our depth at Center is a concern without Hale.

What I meant was if C Hale and RT Harewood are out for the year, backup C/G Chester is starting at RG and Yanda starting as 3rd string RT... who backs up Birk, Chester and Yanda?

The Jets pass rush is fearsome-I hope we can hold up to their blitzes and the overall youth of that team!
NYJ average age 26.13
Ravens average age 26.68

That's pretty negligible.

'Cause youth wins championships?

I think Yanda should be solid at Right Tackle, nothing more though. With Calvin Pace and Shaun Ellis out their blitzes may be slowed somewhat.
