Brilliant!!!! "Offsides" for an offensive linemen.....haha! Yeah, his posts are awesome!
Why? Encroachment, Illegal contact, Illegal touching, Neutral Zone Infractions and a few others can only be called against the defense (Leaping is another one if someone wants to get technical). False starts and Offsides can be called against either the offense or defense if the offensive player lines up in the neutral zone. Look it up.

EDIT: Is that right? Yeah that's right as far as I know. Offsides can be called against the offense or defense. Unless I missed something and Oher got moved to special teams; that's the only way it would be pretty much impossible to happen. Or is he not playing? HE DIDN'T GET INJURED DID HE? Did he get injured and I missed it?

I was reading a Yahoo article that touched on this subject and they don't feel Revis will be on Q much:

"Do we really know … Anquan Boldin(notes) will be stranded on Revis Island?

I’ll admit, it would be really fun to watch Boldin and Revis go mano-a-mano for the entirety of Monday night’s game, but the operative word there is would; because it’s not going to happen. It’s true that Boldin was brought in to be the Ravens’ No. 1 receiver, and it’s true that Revis shuts down No. 1 receivers, but Boldin is a bit of a different breed. He rarely ventures down the field – Boldin had just one catch of over 40 yards in Arizona last year – preferring instead to do his damage underneath and over the middle, where his size and brute strength allow him to manhandle cornerbacks. He’s like a mini tight end out there, and the smallish Revis, who admittedly isn’t close to being in game shape, would find the punishing Boldin a less-than-ideal matchup. Rex Ryan knows that, and that’s why I’m guessing we’ll see Revis matched up on Derrick Mason(notes) more often than not. Mason may be a formerly retired 36-year-old, but he still had four catches of over 40 yards last season, which is the same number Calvin Johnson(notes) and Vincent Jackson(notes) had. This could all be a moot point considering the Jets allowed 153 passing yards per game in ’09. Go ahead and bench Joe Flacco(notes), by the way, but if the Ravens do find success through the air, it’ll be Boldin who does the damage."
If that's the case I see Boldin having a big game against Cromartie. Mason MAY get a big play from Revis (could have had a huge gain in the Packers game against Charles Woodson if not for the lame penalty) but Joe can't afford to underthrow him and underestimate his speed on the deep ball.

Its unbelievable how everyone keeps picking on our secondary in this game. Did you guys watch the NFL Network preview of the game in the videos section? They were actually using video of the Rams 4th preseason game to criticize our secondary! When I saw that I couldn't believe my eyes.

Ok-I swore I was going to remain mute when I saw this topic but it's time to say something. The Ravens are my team-I am a season ticket holder and have lived in Baltimore almost my whole life so all you guys that want to holler troll after this post you can fuggettabouttit. IMO The Ravens will not win this game. I believe the pass rush pressure will get to Flacco and he will make mistakes early which will cost us. Additionally even tho we have some new personnel on offense our lack of a deep threat will allow the jets to play their tough man to man style. We do have a great running game but the jets will keep 6 in the box which will put all the pressure on Flacco. On the other side of the ball Sanchez is their weak link but much like Dilfer did with the 2000 Ravens as long as he doesn't make mistakes the defense will win the game. One defensive touchdown will pretty much decide this one. 13 to 6 Jets.

Ravens win 27-17...Jets get a big run for a touchdown and Sanchez throws a goal line touchdown, but at the end of the day Flacco will outplay Sanchez.

That isn't surprising. The first half of the Redskins game aside, the team's starting secondary was solid all pre-season. The media can shows whatever highlights/lowlights they want to prove a point. I see the Ravens secondary shutting up a lot of people today.

Six in the box?

Maybe you mis-typed, because if there are only six defenders on their front the entire night, we won't even try to pass. Running against the nickel? I'll take those odds all day.

Three down lineman and two linebackers and a corner will be crowding the line all night - I think that's 6 and at times there will be seven. Ryan knows Flacco holds the ball to long-he is going to exploit that with pressure!

Common sense prevails....Ray (Rice) and company against 6 will be laughable, at best, for the Jets!

How is 6 pressure???

You do know that Rex's specialty is more like 8 and 9 in the box, correct? 6 is like a prevent defense where your safeties are helping over the top and we will crush that!! Either way, this debate is pointless, as the Jets will not be running much nickel, prevent defense tonight!

So you actually meant six? Oh goodness.

Again, if only six players are in the box, the Ravens will run all over the Jets. I would be pleasantly surprised if Rex thought that little of our running game.

I'll take six as well all night long. Ray Rice. Ray Rice. Ray Rice.

Then when their CBs and safeties start to cheat. PA.

I mean the Jets will be blitzing with two linebackers and one cb almost every down!

I'm not sure how you know that but quick slants or comebacks to Q and Heap and dump-offs/screens to Rice will counteract that easily.

Still not understanding. Running the ball will negate and beat a 6-man blitz out of the nickel.

Do you know what the "box" is on defense?

I just watched that video and was shocked by the same thing. Not a single starter was on the field.
However, they all picked the Ravens to win.

That makes more sense. So you meant that, out of their regular 3-4 alignment, the Jets will be sending two blitzing linebackers and a blitzing corner with regularity? So does that leave only one cornerback in coverage?

Wait, nevermind, still confused.

In all honesty I think the Jets employee a 15 man on the field approach. 4 DL, 4 LB, 4 CBs, and 3 Safeties

Oh wait that'll be the only way they can cover all of our options on O.

All the sudden fantasy teams everywhere are going to have teams trying to trade for Sanchez left and right after this debocle HAHA.
You're kidding right? You're saying Sanchez is gonna blow up our secondary to he point where every fantasy **** just has to trade for him?!? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, that has gotta be the funniest thing I have read in a long time.

Will Sanchez make some good throws? I am sure he will because NO secondary in the league is perfect (including this vaunted Jets back-end). But giving up big plays, whether its via the air or ground are not gamekillers for our defense. Our starting defense gave up 1 offensive touchdown in 3 preseason games, despite giving up some yardage in the air here and there. And correct me if I'm wrong but POINTS are what win games, not yardage. I am absolutely confident in our defense tonight, in fact I think they score once on their own. No to mention that OUR QB will be making even more of those good throws against this "untouchable" Jets secondary (that's the way Jon Gruden was already making them out to be earlier today), because let's face it: Joe is not an elite QB, but he is 5 times better and more experienced than your fantasy stud Dirty Sanchez.

Ravens take it 27-12.

Correct.....would love for them to bring everyone, CB's included, cause them our herd of possession receivers can wreak havoc in the middle all night long!

Why would I be kidding? It's probably almost as funny as THE TWO POSTS SAYING OHER CAN'T BE CALLED FOR OFFSIDES AND THEN ME SAYING IT CAN HAPPEN, CAUSE IT CAN, AND THEN THE MATTER WAS NEVER BROUGHT UP AGAIN - ON THIS THREAD! LMAO!

You can't rule out Sanchez "blowing up" THE RAVENS secondary because it's 6:41 right now. After the game MAYBE, but not now. Ever heard the term "don't jinx it" and "expect the worst so you can only be pleasantly surprised"?

Most the people that I know that were ACTUALLY born and raised here, not bandwagon jumpers, a 500+ season and making the playoffs is the same as winning the Super Bowl. Anything past the first playoff game is a bonus IMO.
