Dolphins CB Jason Allen Named As Starter

6 posts in this topic

Yes, that Jason Allen, the Dolphins 1st round bust from 5 years ago. The word is Smith struggled this pre-season and Allen was named starter as a result.

Right now Smith has low trade value and despite his sophomore slump still has impressive upside to go with ideal size/speed numbers, thoughts?

He's lost his starting spot but I'm sure the Dolphins would be asking for either a 3rd or 4th round pick if a team inquired about him.

Id take Smith, some of the preseason games from the Dolphins I watched Nolan left him alone on an island an awful lot and hes simply not ready yet to operate alone. Smith played well last year and has good upside. He'll bounce back.

I'd take him, but I'm sure the Dolphins don't want to part ways with their young talent. This could be just a ploy to light a fire under Smith's but.

It wouldn't be easy to get Sean Smith. The dolphins aren't the Seahawks.

Thats why it gets so interesting.

One topic of contention in Miami is that players who regress, lose their positions battles, or don't improve in 2-3 years regardless of draft position will often be cut. The best 53 play, thats why they cut their 2009 2nd round pick and wildcat QB Pat White, their 2009 3rd round pick WR Patrick Turner and last years starting RG Donald Thomas, then they replaced them with some undrafted free agents.

Now is the time to go after Smith and get some size in our secondary.
