Safe Bet We Lose One Of The First Two Games...preference?

40 posts in this topic

Ideally would love smacking both the Jets and the Bengirls in the mouth but that will not be a easy task.
So with that I ask you if you had to win one of the two what would be your preference?

Beat the Jets and silence Rex and company?
Beat Cincy because they are in the division and get some payback for last years sweep?

As for me I'll take the win vs Ochostinko and TOdorant

I think we have just as much chance to beat both teams as we do to lose to either. But if I had to pick one to win it would be this Monday's game, just to hear what the Jets fans have to say afterwards. I know the Bengals are our biggest opposition in the AFC North, but that just shows how much I want to shut the Jets fans up.

Yeah, why start a thread considering which games to lose? That's no way to go into the season.
IMO, I think the Ravens can win every game if they play to their best abilities.

We need to win both. Both games are AFC games, one is a division game.

If you HAD to pick one game out of the two to win you would have to pick the Bengals game because it's a division game. We CAN NOT get swept by a division team again this year!!!

1. This is a pretty stupid question because if we HAD to choose one, it's obvious which game matters more. A division game counts more towards every team's first goal which is winning their division. The Jets ARE an AFC team... but that only matters when you get into tiebreakers. The Bengals game is a division game, and it means more.

2. While both of these games look to be very competitive... I wouldn't assume that Ravens HAVE to lose one or the other. Both games could be close, but the Ravens can still win both of them.

I don't like the question but... Cinci would be my answer, realistically if we can beat Cinci, we shouldn't have any issues with the Jets.

Playoff formula for tie-breaker:
Divison record then Conference record.
Why we were ahead of the Steelers last year in the tie breaker. Thanks Browns. :P

Right here...
:toilet:

One game at a time, if that's all the Ravens are worried about why worry about anything else?

Win both.....don't like chosing a game I'd rather lose. Just not in my "fandom"

That's right 16-0 on our way to the Superbowl! :P

I say the Jets so we can silence the hype (somewhat). Also, it's not guaranteed that we'll play the Jets more than once, but if we lost to the Bengals, we could redeem ourselves later this season. That being said, this is a silly thread because we will crush both of them :).

Seems like a perfectly reasonable question to me. Not every thread has to be all roses. Statistically speaking, playing two playoff teams in a row, good chance you'll lose one of the two games. What's wrong with thinking a bit about which game means more to you?

I don't really care. I think we can and will win both games. But just based on the NFL's playoff system, I'd rather beat Cincy. No emotional attachment to either game, really. Whether the Jets are the real deal will be apparent soon enough.

I'd be willing to swallow my pride against the Jets and choose the Bengals. Division trumps Conference.

Im selfish. I want a win over the Jets because, at the end of the day, I'm shelling out about a grand to make this trip.

That was lame lol

but yeah, I always rather beat a division rival over another team. Common sense. Except for in 2007 when we sucked and we almost beat Patriots. really wanted that win.

did beat the steelers though lol

While these are two tough games we have to open the season, I disagree with the title of the thread. I don't think it is a "safe bet" that we lose one of these games. That would indicate the odds being overwhelmingly in favor of us taking a loss to one or both of these teams. I figure it is more a 50/50 thing that we lose one of these games. Not that we are not capable of winning both, just that they are two tough games back to back and on the road.

That said, a division win means more. I'd have to choke on my pride and take a close loss to the Jets. (which is really even painful to say, let alone contemplate.)

For once entering a season i can say with extreme confidence that we will beat both of these teams. Trust, i think most of our fans underestimate the fact that our solid passing game will make it easier to run the ball and vice versa. This is not last year Raven's this is a new team with a balanced attack we can beat any team out there trust me.

Personally i dont prefer we lose either, BUT... IF i had to drop one, division win is more important than conference.

On a side note, bengals play the pats, steelers play the falcons, we play the jets... there is a "small" chance the browns are at the head of our division after this week. They play the bucs. Not that it means a d*mn thing even if that happens, just think its kinda funny lol

On another side note... we arean't losing

I haven't bothered picking apart other teams' schedules myself but I heard something interesting on the radio last week talking about the Ravens, Cincy, Pats,Jets and I can't recall the other team that one of us are going to end up 0-2 of because within that combo of teams most play each other in that period of time.
