Series INFO:
Ravens lead regular season series, 5-1, winning five consecutive.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan coached 10 seasons (1999-2008) as a Ravens’ assistant, including four (2005-08) as defensive coordinator.
Jets QBs coach Matt Cavanaugh was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator from 1999-2004.

It’s the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets, two 2009 playoff teams, squaring off in the Monday Night Football opener.
Both teams earned the postseason a year ago after posting 9-7 regular season marks. John Harbaugh enters his third season as the Ravens’ head coach and is trying to guide Baltimore to a third consecutive trip to the playoffs, which would be a franchise first. While the Ravens are 6-8 all time in season openers, they have won two in a row under coach Harbaugh and three of the last four.

God, I cannot WAIT to be in the stands at this game. God bless my wife and all the harassment she'll have to navigate through.

GO RAVENS!

EDIT: We're wearing purple? Arent the Jets home jerseys green? I figured we'd wear white.

Nothing, 24-13 is the score I predicted. Maybe more like 24-3 though. 13 is what we give up to good offenses. :)

Lets go I am so psyched!! 24-13 :baltimore-ravens: !!!
I predicted for a 20-17 W on ATD's Pick'em league. But any score will do really so long as it is followed by a :baltimore-ravens: win! Hoping for a great match.

I don't expect a whole lot of scoring to go on during this game. There won't be any deep passes to make scoring go quickly. Both teams will have to methodically work their way down the field to score.

I am AMPPED 4this one. I think this game will be the best game of the week with a blow out. I have the our Ravens 30 to 14 winning over these BIGMOUTH jets. Sending a message of "We FATHERED your style."

Try Ray Lewis..

Rex was only in charge for four years, Ray has been in charged for a decade and a half..

Some of our members get a little gung ho. Rex did father the "organized chaos" portion of our defense, but our defense wasn't really fathered by Rex. Moreso Ray Lewis and maybe Marvin Lewis. Rex was another D Cord in our system that added his own pizazz to an already dominating defense.

omg the pool is full

I know, by the time I got to the pool it was packed and I felt almost dirty going in. I prefer a clean pool.

Can't wait! Should be there by 5:30! My first Ravens game--being from New York!

Have fun at the game. I'll be flying in from Fla the next week for the Pats game. Don't know if you've got your own group to hang with, if not check out the forum on the official Jets website. There's a bunch of good guys on there who will party with you.

Good point. Over those four years, his D ranked 2nd in the NFL. I'll take that.

No, Rex is excellent at coordinating and overseeing a defense - you would be a fool to doubt that. He's apparently pretty decent at running a team, too, so far. Just Ray has been the cornerstone of this defense ever since they took the field in Baltimore.

True. He has been the center of your D for a long time.

listening to people talk in ny. they think they have to worry more about heap then ray rice or any of our WRs
The unfortunate truth is that Heap might be called upon to block more, helping out Cousins (or whoever gets the go at RT). We know the Jets will try to exploit that question mark.

Let them underestimate our wide-outs and Rice, they'll be in for a surprise.

We beat Dallas in their last game in Texas Stadium a few years ago, and this year we're going to beat the Jets in their first game in New Meadowlands Stadium.

I went with the press release-- there have always been spot on. Maybe the Jets are wearing white because its early September and the game is at 7? I did some poking around on their site and noticed the team photo in white and they don't have a Gameday section like ours.
