I think a lot of them are telling the truth. The list of banned substances is so extensive that a good chunk of people in the league don't know everything that's on it. I mean Brian Cushing's excuse was a little ridiculous and he probably did take steroids but I believe that alot of them took supplements innocently that happened to contain banned substances.

They make too much money not to know whats in the products they take. What they put in their bodies can affect their job as an NFL player.

They know better than that, they have trainers for this exact reason. Each trainer is briefed on the league substance policy and all a player has to do is ask the trainer if the product he is interested in taking is on the banned list. If the product isnt but contains a supplement that isnt listed on the ingredients, the player I believe can actually sue the company for it, provided he has some of it left. This all falls on the player.
