An interesting prediction that the superbowl leads directly through the Steelers and Colts. I know its too early to make predictions, but this could very well happen because we have played and lost to both the steelers and colts in the past two playoffs. Do you think the ravens could overcome their demons and win? All I know is those are two teams that I never want to see on the schedule come playoffs.

What could get better than playing the Steelers in the playoffs?
[/quote]

What could be worse? Losing to the Steelers and sending them on their way for a 7th title.

We already beat one demon, the Patriots. We can get past the Steelers. But Peyton just seems to own us (he owns almost everyone though). We need to get past them.

Exactly. It just seems like we can't overcome them. I mean look at the last time we played Steelers. We handed the game to them on a platter with all the penalties and missed plays. Look at our history versus either team and you will see why i dont want to play them. Especially in post season.

I know that everyone says that Manning owns us...and I used to say it too, but if you look at his stats and the game scores (especially for recent games) it's clear that he does not. He fares far worse against us than against the rest of the league in yardage, points and interceptions. The reason we usually lose to the colts is because we can't score on them. Much like his only superbowl, Manning's defense beats us for him.

Here are the stats from last year. In the regular season game against us, Manning had an 85.3 qb rating, with 1 td and 2 int's. In the playoffs he had an 87.9 qb rating with 2 tds and 1 int.

That's an average qb rating of 86.6 with an equal number of int's for td's. Against the entire league last year Manning posted a 99.9 qb rating, with 33 td's and only 16 int's. That is a huge difference.

Now look at the scores. The colts only scored 17 and 20 points in the two games against us last year. That's only an 18.5 average. On the season they averaged 26 per game. That's over a td more per game.

....and as for our scores....we scored 15 and 3 in the games against them (enough said). <---This is the reason we lost!!

I might even go as far as to say that we own Manning, but their defense (or our lack of offense in the past) is a different story.

Beating the Colts means winning SB, so I hope we can stay calm and play our game. Not to overplay it and causing unnecessary penalties. Generally, we are well equiped and ready to go to war. It's up to us to stay calm and execute our strategy correctly and accurately. We should come out of the war with a W regardless who's on the other side of the field.

I want home-field advantage... also, why are people so high on the Steelers? I don't get it.

I think they'll jump off the bandwagon when Steelers horse close to hit the cliff.

I don't know about you guys but I am kind of hoping that the Ravens actually have a season off from the Colts. Since the schedule is clear ... I hope this also means the Ravens avoid them in the playoffs.

I agree, PuRock, losing to the Steelers could be worse, yet there is a chance, maybe even a slight one, that the Steelers may not be as formidable as they have been over the past few years. We shall have to wait and see.

As for the team that used to call the City That Reads home, I do believe that there could be the possibility that there could be a Super Bowl Hangover for this team. Who knows, we may see our Ravens bedevil them in the playoffs this time around.

I agree %100. While Peyton HAS gashed us a few times (he has gashed everybody more than once..) It seems like our defense has been able to control him the most.
THEIR defense has been what we haven't been able to overcome. We were never able to attack the middle of the field through the air to beat their Cover 2 scheme so we were forced to run and they just used their speed to shut down the running game. I think this year now that we have multiple receivers/TE's that can go over the middle we should be able to have more success throwing the ball which will hopefully allow us to have the same success on the ground that most teams have against them

If our safeties and corners play to their potential, we're the best team in the league. The Steelers are a great organization but they're a mess this year due to injuries and Ben's off field issues. Indy is great but Peyton gets flustered very easily and our FO has made the right moves this offseason.

GO BALTIMORE.

One thing we have always done right against Peyton though is making him flustered. Seems like every time we play him he doesn't know what to do with himself. He's used to being able to do whatever, whenever. But when our defense steps on the field, he starts gettin angry at himself

I dont think it will be near as hard to beat Pittsburgh this year. We only really have trouble with them in Big games, ie. Monday Night Football and championship title games.

Wow I don't even have the Steelers in the playoffs and I have the Colts losing in the wild card round as the 3 seed to the Texans, yes I went there. I have Chargers/Ravens as my top 2 seeds.

I also think the Ravens will be in the Championship game.... but to lose against the Chargers who go on to win the Super Bowl.
