I know he's not talking trash. He's talking about the trash talking and fat Rex. That's it. Unfortunately, I can't iggy him on the mobile site.

What are you talking about? I believe if you took the time to research what you're talking about, you'd find that the majority of my posts are football related. You attempt to jump on me about trash talk, then you throw out a "Fat Rex" comment? Very original.

Or just not hired as the HC. Because his style (of talking) wasn't the direction the Ravens wanted to go.

Thank You. That is the fact!

I can see that. For the Jets however, we were in desperate need of an identity and Rex has provided one. I can see where players/fans look at Rex as a loud mouth (If he coached the Phins, I'd probably hate him) The fact is that he's our loud mouth and we love the guy.

Talking about Rex Ryan isn't against the Code of Conduct. He's done nothing wrong.

For the record, jetsknicks1 has been a pretty good opposing team fan....just saying.

Actually, I wasn't calling for Rex Ryan as the head coach because I don't like players' coaches; they're sometimes too lax and they can lose their players just as easily as they can motivate them. The biggest reason why Rex Ryan is a dramatically different coach now in our eyes than when he was with the Ravens, is because the Ravens did a good job of taking the microphone away from him before he said too much. You never want to give your opponents extra ammunition, even mentally. It's amazing what motivation can do for some players. We hear all the time about guys talking big, but rarely is it ever backed up. Though Rex Ryan backed up some of his talk by advancing to the AFC Championship in his first season as head coach, he didn't finish the job.
You're right about that. Rex does a great job of motivating his players.

True, he didn't finish the job. How many rookie HC's with a rookie QB have?

That's what I love about the NFL, every game, even the first one, is a big game.

I agree. While Rex might not have been our direction. The Jets after the Eric Mangini era needed that Bravado. The Jets went from the secret house to the Swagger house with the coaching switch. This actually benefited the Jets and what they wanted to do.

I too don't mind JetsKnicks1. I hate when our members call another team's fan a troll just because they don't like his arguments.

It's nice to have some healthy football talk around this parts, it gets kinda tired about talking about how awesome we are all the time without some reality interjected in.

Gets a little tiresome talking about and to the same nonsense. Nice for a little mixup.

It's also important to note that Steve Bisciotti wanted to change the image of the team, not just the culture in the locker room. Image ties into psychology and is a powerful tool that many successful teams utilize.

Look at some of the top teams in the league right now: the Patriots, the Colts, and the Saints. They all have a clean-cut image, and it's no coincidence that their image has helped them get some calls in their favor. It's all human nature, as we are more inclined to reward those that have shown a pattern of good behavior, than those who are repeat offenders. That's not to say that the referees will always make the wrong call, but you know that if you were in their shoes and there's a call that could literally go either way, you're bound to trust that the team with the cleaner image probably played it fair.

The Ravens had this image of bullies and thugs for the longest time, and though it worked to great effect in intimidating other teams, it did nothing in the penalty department. Therefore, to alleviate some of those problems, John Harbaugh was hired to help clean up the team's image and make the organization respectable in the eyes of both casual fans and the league.

Hardcore fans and personnel men in the league had always respected the Ravens as a class organization, but the image didn't match the quality of the product. Now that the two have met a middle ground, we're seeing much more praise heaped up on the team, and we're seeing fewer tick-tack penalties called. There's still a level of discipline that needs to be instilled to continue to alleviate those penalties, but at least the referees are more inclined to give the Ravens the benefit of the doubt these days.

And that's why we welcome fans of other teams who come here to talk football (rather than trash).

I know that some here mentioned Ganggreen (Not my style). You should check out the forum at nyjets.com We've actually been wondering where all the Raven's fans are.

We generally don't visit other teams' forums; it usually never ends well. The logic is, if we don't want them invading us, we shouldn't invade them. Our home is our home, and though we welcome visitors, not everyone has the same courtesy of acting as cautiously as guests should.

We were "invaded" by Dolphins fans back during the 2008 Playoffs, and while many of them were respectful, there were quite a few that gave us problems. The opposite happened with Broncos fans last season when their team was undefeated heading into their game against the Ravens; many of them were arrogant and interested only in talking smack...which backfired on them when the Ravens snapped their undefeated streak and completely decimated them.

In this particular case, our beef isn't necessarily with Rex Ryan and Bart Scott, but with your fellow Jets compatriots. I'm a student at the University of Delaware and we attract a lot of kids from Jersey, so there's a large Jets population on campus. I'm surrounded by a lot of obnoxious fans, so my personal issue is with their arrogance and trash-talk, rather than with the actual team or the coaches. That said, I still take some issue with Rex Ryan's mouth, and will continue to, even though I am appreciative of what he's done for the Ravens; I'm just not a big believer in spilling your guts in public.

I really think there's a big difference between invading another forum & going there to talk football & some good natured smack.

Dolphin fans are awful. You should see our site during Phins week.

There are alot of rude, obnoxious Jet fans, same as with any other team. This is compounded by the fact that there are several Jet's forums. Most of the ones I've seen are just guys yelling at each other.

I think if you were to go to the nyjets.com forum (There's a few of you guys already there), you'd find mostly good, realistic fans that can discuss football.

Keep in mind, we don't allow smack talk. ;)

But I get what you're saying. Either way, I've had mostly bad experiences with Jets fans around me in-person, and since I have to interact with them daily, there's not much that can change my perception, to be honest. You seem perfectly respectful and I commend you for it, and I won't generalize and lump you in with your fellow fans, but I really can't say that I can change my mind about the rest of the fanbase.

I'm with you. I've come across a few decent Phin fans but nothing's going to change my perception of their fan base either.

I look at it like this. Boldin is going take Revis out of the game. Revis is not a safety where he is running around sensing where the ball is going to be placed. He is a single coverage man stooping one guy!

It depends on what side of that fence you're on. We see it as Revis taking Boldin (Or whoever he'll cover) out of the game. And if we can take away your #1 receiving threat with one guy, it frees up our D to do alot of different things.

Home is where the heart is. I personally am not one to venture away from here. I enjoy discussions primarily with Ravens fans and the occasional outside visitor fan.
