Si Picks Steelers Over Ravens?!

48 posts in this topic

What the....you have got to be kidding me! Sports Illustrated picked the Steelers to go to the superbowl. I mean no one should take them lightly ever, but THE SUPERBOWL?

This year has been like a Greek tragedy so far for the Steelers. Sure anything COULD happen but....get real!

When it comes to the media the Ravens always will be the Rodney Dangerfield of football...no respect, no respect at all!

What will SI print when the Ravens win instead...

SI HEADLINE: OOPS! here is why (fill in team name) lost the Superbowl :gaah:

LOL GO RAVENS!

For the flip side of the coin, see this thread on the Ravens getting too much hype.

Obviously, the media can't please all of the people all of the time.

This exact article has already been discussed.

But seriously, who really cares what the media thinks. The only way anybody will feel satisfied is if you just don't care. If you do care, there will be somebody that goes against your thoughts about the Ravens and the NFL that will upset you.

Because this may be shocking to some. But no two people are the same in this world! They might come close. But everybody has their own opinions and ways of life.

I completely disagree. That may have been how it used to be, but for the past two years, the media, particulary NFL Network has been firmly on the Joe Flacco and ergo the Ravens bandwagon. At least that's how I see things.

But to put the Steelers ahead of the Ravens is pretty stupid. They have lost a lot more than they have gained this offseason.

It was Peter King who is all over the Steelers from SI.com. He has picked them to win it all the m o r on! He was interviewing Sabel from NFL films this morning with Ross Tucker on Sirius and he was the most obnoxious interviewer butting in like a petulent child not allowing Ross Tucker to ask any questions at all! Wow this guy is truly an idiot!

They come out with these articles at this time of the year for discussion material purposes. WAY to early to predict now with 18 games to play before the SB... 18 games worth of injuries, bad teams becoming good, and good teams becoming bad. This kind of stuff won't have much relevance until around about game 14. But this guy is the ONLY professional sports writer, that I've seen, to go there with the Steelers.

Michael Strahan said it beautifully: "I don't have any Super Bowl picks. If anyone does, they're insane!" Ironically, this quote is from the latest SI mag. Wonder what Peter King thinks about THAT!

You clearly live in a cave.

The above type of statement was just a misinformed annoyance last year, but considering that half of the analysts out there are picking the Ravens to go to the Super Bowl this season, it's now idiotic.

Go to any Steelers forum and you can find about a thousand Steelers fans that think the same thing. Surprisingly their "guess" is as good as SIs. Better yet go to a Jets forum and read the truly hilarious views they have. The writers at SI are no better at predicting the future than the weatherman.

Media, shmedia. Those guys jump around each week. They'll be believers sooner or later. I mean how many people doubted New Orleans until really late into the season? I questioned their chances of winning it all until they did.

Exactly

I mean what football team fan wouldn't expect their team to win the Superbowl?

Edit: Okay maybe the Rams, Lions, Raiders, Bears, TB. Browns are an exception though lol.

Bills coming on strong, baby!

But not really..

These predictions are useless, whether in favor of the Ravens or not, people were picking the Bears to go to the SuperBowl before the season began last year.. ahem...

Like a mild cough.

I could see the Steelers having a shot if they get into the playoffs though, they can be tough at times or lose to the Raiders and Browns.

Ive seen so many guys saying that Steelers wont be a factor this year because of this and that. A franchise with that winner-mentality and defense is never to be ruled out. I do believe that Ravens will have the upperhand this year but do not rule out the Steelers just yet.
