The problem with hype is people start to believe it after a while.

what true "fan" would say this: "Now all you peeps spouting super bowl-still think we are going after looking at the new schedule? We will be lucky to finish 10 and 6 with a big fight for a wild card. Better draft DEFENSE!!"

Apparently I have" issues" (as evidenced by my posting) for confronting/disagreeing with the select few posters that I don't agree with, whether it be their postings, opinions, grammar, comprehension level etc.....

Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

On topic....love hype, all for it, bring it!!!!!

The fact that the Niners and Falcons received votes tells you all you need to know about the "Pigskin Panel".

I feel like too many people are sleeping on the Saints. It's the same team that dominated last year. There is zero reason for them not to be the favorites again. After that I'd say the Colts are still second favorite. Ravens might be third, but let's play the games.

Does it matter? I just don't get it, what are fans trying to avoid? If we lose, we lose. If we don't win the division or make it to the SB, then that's what happened. It's still another year of not reaching the goal. It must be about other fans, or the idea that it will somehow impact the way the Ravens play. Whatever. Players don't get more nervous in the playoffs when there are expectations. You're in the playoffs! The Chargers look good every year in their weak division, but does anyone really think that the weight of those expectations is the reason they haven't won a SB? So what if people think we're better than we are, the players on the field aren't thinking about that. They're thinking about executing the play.

After the game Monday it will become a little clearer (still early) as to whether hype is appropriate or not.

The media gets paid to do this so....it is what it is....beat the JETS is number 1. Everything else is comes next I say.

GO RAVENS!

Look it all works in a circle. First you're the underdog and you hate the teams that are the favorite. Then when you're the favorite you hate the teams that hate that you're the favorite. I'll bet you most of the fans from other teams that expect us to get to the Superbowl are from the NFC because most AFC fans are still pulling for their own teams ahead of yours. And they're rooting for them so much that they actually believe they'll win.

Except the Browns.

ESPN Pigskin Panel Picks Ravens To Win It All

Dont get me wrong, Im rooting as hard as anyone for them to win it all. What i don't like seeing is how much hype we're getting in the media. I always liked playing the underdog card and flying under the radar, which is usually how you are looked at when you have a stellar defense and a sub-par offense these days. Now that we possess an elite-looking offense and a still stout defense there is way too much hype surrounding a team with a lot of new moving parts.

Now we are required to win the division and at the very least make it to the conference finals. One and done in the playoffs isnt gonna cut it with all the expectations. Here's hoping Flacco and the boys live up to what everyone's expecting.

Agree w/ you entirely.. you'll be happy to know that NFL All accesshas the Ravens making it to the playoffs bu losing the Superbowl, some othershad them losing in the AFC championship. Today on mikenadmike Mike Green and "Stink" (Mark Schlerer) had them losing to New Orleans and Golic had them not even making the Superbowl.
There are still enoughpundits out there who doubt our DBs to allow the Ravens to make it to the Superbowl.

I thought the one Mike had San Fran winning it all.

Anyways their picks for the superbowl winners have always sucked. They call it a curse. Wish they didn't pick us.

I find it amusing how the media finds a way to crap on us in any way possible...latest example is over on nfl.com. One of their gripes about us is their "concern about Boldin being able to handle being the lead reciever after playing across from Fitzgerald the past few years". If that's all they've got, then the media darlings (aka Jests, Steelers, Pats) are in for a loooong night when we meet up this year.

That's a laughable argument.

I agree, that argument doesn't hold much water. Boldin produced even when Fitzgerald was out. To much production for that argument to stand up.

Any given sunday my friends. As the old cliche says you have to play the game. While I fully agree this season will be very exciting as far as the Ravens go I also think many have overdosed a bit on the hype even before the first snap. Remember that pathetic team that upsets an elite team every weekend..injuries that occur effecting a teams chemistry/depth...that major string of luck to required to go the distance?
Yeah that's right I forgot our powerful offense will dominate everyone and everthing....
Last nights Saints/Vikings game was a prime example. New Orleans has a potent scoring machine and came out with a bang on the first drive yet struggled the rest of the game to put up points squeaking out a win. I'm just saying it's a bit too early to start purchasing airline tix to Dallas.

Sip don't guzzle the purple Kool Aid )
