Who To Start And Sit?

930 posts in this topic

Figured with kickoff in two days I'd curb the massive amount of threads about who to start and sit into one consolidated place.

Please post your start and sit questions here. Thanks.

I'll start, pick one. Dwyane Bowe (vs SD) or Hakeem Nicks (vs CAR), Floyd (@KC)

Nicks and the Giants play the Panthers.

All three WRs will be going up against three good CBs but I'd go with Bowe. Even though I see KC being competitive throughout that game, I won't be surprised if the Chargers blow them out meaning KC will be throwing the rock a lot. Bowe is easily KC's best WR so he'll get target and has the talent to make plays.

Here's two questions, .... Should You Start Joe Flacco this week against The Over Rated Jets and my second question is how much should you read into the Projected Stats?

Yup. I don't really pay attention to projected stats. They're helpful, but I don't lose sleep over starting someone that they say won't do that good.

But I would have to pick Nicks. Reason being, I think he'll have a great year, and he's my WR2 starting for me in my money league lol.

With that said, who's ready for some ESPN Fantasy Football? I'll have to bring that topic back from the dead, starting tomorrow.

lol oh I know I read into them a little but I mostly make my own decisions. I know I got burned couple times last year where I started a guy who was projected to have a good day and the player I benched to start the player with more projected points had a great day.

That's what happens when you listen to Michael Fabiano.

He shafted me a couple times last season.

Actually I'm not talking about Fabiano I'm talking about the Yahoo/ESPN Projected points that they come up with. It's crazy where they get some of projected numbers from.

Now on Fabiano I have actually found him to be more accurate and won some games because of him.

Do I start Jamaal Charles or Cedric Benson? I feel more comfortable with Benson because he's a feature back but Charles is on a team with a not-to-great passing offense and is explosive.

What's your other option besides Flacco?

Projected stats vary from site to site. But the common thing is to not pay too much attention.

What I use projected stats for is to pump up my team. I start all the guys that have the greatest projected stats, so when the person I'm playing against looks at the matchups totals, they feel slightly intimidated. Then a couple days before the games, I put the guys who I feel are the best in, even if their projected stats stink.

Depends on matchup. I like Charles a lot. I would probably start Charles regardless of the matchup

To the OP. Start Floyd. Floyd will be a stud this year

In One Yahoo League... I have Joe Flacco and my other QB is David Garrard(vs Broncos) and on a ESPN league I have Joe & Kyle Orton(vs Jaguars)

Hmmm. I still go with Flacco for both. Though David Garrard might not be a bad pick at home with MJD, playing in his first game this season.

Plus it will give you that much more to cheer for the first game.

I was thinking about Garrard since Denver's defense is suspect with Dumervil Gone and I'm sure David could put up some good amount of points against the Broncos Defense. Probably what I'll do is in my Yahoo league I'll start David and keep Joe as my starter in my ESPN League since Kyle Orton is suspect as well since he has no receivers.

I thought I had this one figured out...

I've got Zach Miller @ Tenn and Brent Celek at home against GB

I thought Celek was the guy I wanted but he seems to have gone cold in preseason. Something
about the Philly offense just doesn't look very potent right now. Miller seems to be coming on but I just don't know what Raider team will show up against a pretty stout Titan defense.

I'm tired of thinking about it and time is running out. Gonna go with any recommendations offered here...or just flip my lucky Susan B Anthony dollar...

I'd go with Celek... Simply because you know Philly is going to be throwing the ball a lot... I could see Oak and Ten run it down eachothers throats all day... Not an ideal situation for you, though;)

I got one for you guys...

I'm in a Return Yards League and I dunno who to start for my FLEX player:

Greg Jennings vs. Felix Jones

"Celek it is", as he places his Susan B Anthony dollar back in his pocket
[/quote]

I would go with Celek too. He's the safer pick for week 1 in my eyes. I really want to see the Campbell - Miller Connection in the regular season before I feel comfortable starting Miller over Celek.

Wr (start 3)- Andre Johnson, Miles Austin, Crabtree, Colston, Mike Williams (TB), Gaffney, Maclin (have a trade going for him for Jennings; thats why I listed him last, as he'll be gone before then, but Jennings will be onboard for week 2)
RB (2)- MJD, Charles, Pierre Thomas, DeAngelo Williams, Foster, Best

Flex WR/TE: Colston (I'm only listing the ones I have starting at this position currently, otherwise I would be spending too much time listing every eligible player)
Flex WR/RB/TE: Crabtree
Flex WR/RB: Thomas ( the only one on my roster I'm not too comfy about starting, since he goes against the Vikes)

DEF (start 1): Cowboys, Bengals

Ok quick question:

Chad Henne against a good Bills secondary, or Josh Freeman against the Browns, but coming off a broken thumb on his throwing hand lol? I've been going at it all week, and would love to hear what everyone thinks. Please help.

While I expect good things from Freeman this season. I'd have to go with Henne, feel like he's assured at least one TD. The Bucs might rely upon their healthy running game this week. Plus I would like to see how the Bucs O pieces together Week 1.

#3 receiver... Jeremy Maclin or Percy Harvin? (leaning towards Harvin)

Flex... Jahvid Best, Shonn Greene, Run DMC? (leaning towards Best)

QB... Rodgers (@ Philly) or Cutler (@ home against Detroit)?

Harvin. But it's damn close between him and Maclin.

If M Bush doesn't play, I'd actually go with McFadden. He'll get 20+ touches. Greene will be stuffed by our run D, Best isn't a bad option, but I feel like the Lions fall behind early to the Bears in Chicago. If Bush does play, then its Best. But when it comes down to it, I'd probably just start Best.

Rodgers. Easiest one. Philly vs GB sounds like a shoot out matchup to me.

Joe Flacco (@ NYJ) or Chad Henne (@ Buffalo)

If there is ever one week to bench Flacco, it'll probably be this week.

Honestly, I'd go with Henne. Personally, I see Joe putting up around 250 yards and 2 TDs against the Jets but there's a good chance he may not be that productive. The Bills have a decent secondary but Henne's progression and surrounding weapons suggest he should have a good game.

Flacco could go either way in this game.

I think I am going with Henne. He should be good for at least one TD.

When in doubt, always go with your studs. Michael Turner and Arian Foster.

Brandon Marshall and Steve Smith.

Do you think Santana Moss could get some good numbers Sunday night? He is the only good wr starting the game old man Galloway is also starting. McNabb will probably feel more comfortable with him. I think Moss will get some good looks and get some down field shots, but I'm not sure to start him or not.
