Dear Mr. Carrol,
First of all, thank you very much for your generous donations to the Ravens. We were definitely in need of a solid Corner, but you went above and beyond and even donated a Pro Bowl WR!

Now, I don't want to ask too much but would you happen to have a spare RT hanging around anywhere? We would be willing to provide SOME compensation. Your generosity is for a great cause, beating the Steelers. (We all saw the Seahawks vs Steelers super bowl).

Donations can be sent to:

Just checked their website. Okung is listed as the starting left tackle. Sean Locklear is listed as their right tackle. Would they take a 7th round pick for him? :D

i think a 7th is a bit much. how about a conditional 7th providing we win the super bowl?

that sounds about right

Pete Carroll is a ra-ra coach. He works better with kids. (Kids are college; big boys are pros.)
These moves show his weaknesses and it is cool how you stated it. Unfortunately, he will not succeed as a pro coach, he had his stint before.
A professional does not have to be motivated for the most part, and some people, like Carroll, have a knack for that. He screwed USC and played dumb about; I understand that coaching in the NFL is a fraternity. I kind of wonder when Billick is going to be given another opportunity, but I would not give him one.

I would take either of those two guys or there LT. wasn't the LT also a 1st round choice the same year as Oher or something like that. They selected 2 tackles in the 1st round in back to back years.. WOW unbelievable..
Actually it was Aaron Curry. Their Center, Max Unger, went in the 2nd Round.

Wonder if the Rams fans are thanking us ? Jason Brown, Mark Clayton, Kyle Boller, and possibly Demetrius Williams
They probably weren't too thrilled about that signing.

That's also why a lot of so-called "players' coaches" tend to fail, as well; players see through their crap too easily because a lot of it is artificial motivation. In the case of a players' coach, however, they tend to be too soft on their guys and the players don't take them seriously as an authority figure since they view the coach as an equal or even beneath them; coaches don't need to be placed on a pedestal, but their authority needs to be respected or else they lose the team.

John Harbaugh might sometimes have the quality of a corny, rah-rah type coach, but he's also a disciplinarian and stresses the smallest detail. That's what separates him from the other rah-rah coaches and why his authority is respected despite being such a relatively young coach.

Exactly right. Harbaugh does employ some cheesy tactics, the slogans, the props, but he backs it up with hard work and a whole lot of pride.

Hey, it was enough to motivate the team to destroy the Patriots in the Wild Card Round, wasn't it? ;)

Agreed. Jack Harbaugh also has a way of making the guys ready to eat their own guts as well

Dude, if OJ Brigance told me to play chicken with a locomotive, I'd probably do it. Hearing the man talk, even with as weak as his voice has gotten, pulls at my heartstrings every time. Imagine how emotionally ramped-up the players feel when he gives a quick speech in the locker room with all of his strength.

That's called playing with heart, folks. That's something I'm not sure Pete Carroll can do at the professional level.
