What Play Do You Call.

62 posts in this topic

Ok, here's your opportunity to be Cam Cameron. Fast forward to Monday night, the Ravens get the kickoff and get the ball on our own 27 yard line. What's the 1st play that you call for the offense against the Jets.

I'm gonna call a run for Ray Rice to the left w/ a 2 tight end set.

I'm going with a screen to rice against that aggressive defense that without doubt is gonna try and hammer Flacco...

Or

I'm going to a quick 1 step drop pass to boldin...just to let revis know he's gonna have to work Monday night

Either way both plays get Flacco with an easy quick completion and hopefully can get him going for the night

But back to the RB screen pass..I don't know if yall remember that pre season game last year between us and the jets but Rex called an abundance of screen passes...because Rex knows screen plays can hurt an aggressive defense..we need to the same..

good topic by the way

Run the ball. Whether its to the outside or inside. Gotta show the Jets we are gonna come out running at them so they stack up the box opening up our receivers.

It will DEFINITELY be a pass. The Ravens don't want to give the Jets the satisfaction of stuffing a run and the crowd going insane. An incomplete pass won't get the same kind of reaction a stuffed run will.

And if Flacco's past is any indication... the pass is going to Rice or Mason.

But what would I like to see? Something crazy... like a flea flicker + hook-and-ladder all in one play.

Play action to Rice, pass to Mason... just like the first play of the preseason.

Exactly. I called that one too lol. Great minds think alike! Play action will have Mr. Scott spinning in circles, I guarantee it.

Scott's going to be coming on a blitz on the first snap, so he's not gonna be worried about pass coverage.

I would call a Ray Rice sweep. Make the Jets try to chase him around, they don't stop outside runs very well..remember what Chris Johnson was doing to our defense in the 08 playoffs? It seems to be an inherent weakness with Rex's scheme

JEEP has a good point about CJ in '08. That might be the way to attack them throughout the game.

But for the first play, play action and attack Revis with a deep pass to Boldin over the middle. A big completion against their "best" player would send a big message to start the game.

Then, for the rest of it, avoid him like the plague :)

Deep ball to Boldin to show nobody is scared of Revis. Then on defense put up a big hit on Sanchez to set the tone for the game like we did against the Broncos.

either that or we could RUN to Revis' side, and let Mr. Boldin put Revis on his back with a block

Boldin and housh outside, mason in the slot and heap on the left, unbalanced line right. play action to rice to the right and hit heap on a delayed seam route.

Jets will be bringing the heat on the 1st play of the game.
[/quote]

yeah, quick pass or something to try and get them a little more conservative with their blitzing then run the ball.

sometime in the 1st possession i think we go with a 3 maybe 4 WR set and call a run and then let joe audible out if they're covering slot receivers with LBs

I actually agree with this. Why not go after revis right out of the gate and see if he's really ready to play?

Two reciever singleback set, Rice in the backfield, Boldin and Housh spread wide. The recievers bump their cover men on the line, run a go, play action to Heap up the middle for +20. I like that because of the options...one of those recievers could break loose, Heap is attacking the soft spot of the field which is coincidently also the Jests' weakest area, and if somehow it breaks down, Rice is the safety blanket with just a LB to embarrass and no one nearby for support. Great thread idea, btw..

I formation (2wrs). I fake it to Ray Rice and hand it off to McClain either up the gut or on a counter. Either way, I get the Jets thinking that, "yea, Rice will get the ball, but we may also give it to our FB." I'd make them sweat the passing game in the first qtr.

play action, heap over the middle. bart cant cover him. he'll get a holding call or pi or something and then pick up the refs flag and throw it or something stupid

I hope that Cam or Greg don't open up there playbook to the media but it is looking very explosive right now...
This is what I think Heap down the middle with a slant and a dig plus a Chris Chester block with the 1st down nothing but net...
