[Blogs] ‘Housh’ Now A Raven, Clayton A Ram

113 posts in this topic

Certainly surprised by Clayton's departure, would have thought either Smith/Reed would have been first to go, with someone else filling in on special teams. But Ozzie is able to get value out of the loss.

Welcome TJ, certainly can't argue with his 900+ yd season last year. But after Seattle cut him different reports said TJ had lost his speed. I'm sure OZ and his staff were able to verify TJ's skills prior to signing him. Great upside for small investment of veteran minimum. Maybe TJ will have a chip on his shoulder and want to prove his critics wrong - hope so.

Sorry to see Clayton go, although he was certainly 3rd, possibly 4th on the depth chart. He will get a new chance and great opportunity with the Rams - wish him the very best success.

tick101, most of us liked Clayton. But he isn't worth the 2.2 he had coming to him for his production. When he split out, he couldn't separate from a corner. He dropped routine passes. He is a great personality in the locker room and on the field but production has been lacking for years. I like the guy, but the time came to move on. The same with Smith and D Williams.

@ravennutcase that doesnt mean get rid of him, idk maybe i just REALLY dont wanna see him on another team but it seems to me like they coulda released marcus smith and kept clayton, cuz i dont believe were gonna have a very valuable draft pick for him since the rest of the league doesnt look at him like ravens fans do

I'm really startting to question the moves oz and them are doing. trading clayton. i said it b4. of course his production wasn't up there when you pass 75% of the time to mason run or check down to rice and when mason is really getting double throw to heap. I thank this wasn't a smart move. yea i said it. should've waived or traded smith. just because he did iright in one game you keep him. clayton been making plays for us. you already waived williams all because he wasn't on the special teams... well i say this... we will see if the move was a smart one or a bone headed one.

Clayton had some skills - and a new start may be just what he needs. But getting separation from the defenders so you can have the ball thrown to you is the responsibility of the receiver, something that certainly impacted the number of plays going his way. It's an interesting transaction - but believe our front office has more than proven their ability to assess talent and make the best moves for the team - now and for the future.

You people can give me "negative points" all you want. But these offseason moves are stupid as hell. This team is going to regret getting rid of guys like Barnes and Clayton, for sure. Signing TJ is just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Now we, for SURE, have three top WRs who are almost exactly the same player, all possession receivers, NOT deep threats. Our passing game is going to remain 10 yd. passes, and screens to Rice. Not the explosive play you were all expecting. And that sucks.

@JoeyFlex5 i do feel u there but clayton would have been making to much money as a 4th or 5th receiver and we traded a draft pick and him for a draft pick knowing also the rams are going to suck this year there still rebuilding we will benefit greatly next year trust in oz

The Wizard is leaving much to be desired in the WR field. With the exception of a useless Smith, we've gone to a 30 something receiving corp. I'll lay odds by the end of the season the average yard per catch state is less than 9 yards.

first....we will miss you Clayton. be easy and good luck with your career. now, having said that....

welcome "Houz" you will be a great addition to the fold!

Boldin, Mason, Stallworth, Houz, Heap, Pitta, Dickenson, and oh yeah...RAY RICE! if the Ravens can't consistently move the chains and put up 7pts instead of always settling for dump off plays and FGs all the time, then they need their @$$#& whipped! LOL!

Ravens_Flock: for myself I can tell you that all that I was expecting from our WR corp and play this year was to get that little bit better to get us two game further than we were last year; Boldin, TJ and Stallworth can do that; Mark and Demetrius couldn't; Reed and Smith are young prospects; if we think defense will win us games, than the upgrades at WR will take us just that little bit further

Wow, I am surprised. I was not a huge Clayton fan. But this is is so so questionable. I was pulling for us to get "Housh" but not if it meant this. We just lost our only credible home run hitter receiver. We dont get stallworth back for another 6 weeks. Now we have no receivers that can really stretch the feild. Im sorry I love you OZ and you have made some awesome moves, but this i disagree with, extremley. I thought Clayton finaly put good work in for the offseason and was going to preform bc of the other weapons around him. "Housh" is a posession receiver. We have three receivers like him. Im just confused by this. I loved the Housh move but the Clayton move will come back to bite us in our ***.

Why did some people want Reed to go. You still have to have some young wideouts. And how\'s to say Reed won\'t be the next Andre Johnson or something. Then you would be like why did we let him go

Magnum316 just said that "as of 5 pm monday Miller has not yet been claimed. Teams have until the end of today to claim him. Starting tomorrow the Ravens can re-sign him whenever they feel like it."

Flacco and Bulger have to be licking their chops with this addition. If T.J. plays as good as he can the Ravens will never miss Clayton. He knows this division. I bet he's glad to be out of Seattle. Great move Ozzie.

When the Ravens said they were going after WR's in the offseason they were not BSing. Flacco and Boldin are break dancing at the Ravens complex all over the gym floor. Now lets see Revis stop these guys. Oh you want to cover down on Boldin then guess what here is Mason. Oh you want to cover down on Mason then here is TJ. We will always have a fresh RB, WR, and TE out on the field. Plus our backup QB is one of the best in the league. Now Ozzie can get the very best CB's that are available with some very good trades.

I am a little concerned about the lack of \"home run\" power we have with our wrs, but how often did Clayton ever get a ball deep

Wow awsome news I was shocked in a good way and buy TJ signing with us for the league minimum ,it sounds like he wants to help lay a beatdown on the afc north with us this season.
