Mark Clayton Appreciation Thread

87 posts in this topic

I'll always have a love/hate relationship with Clayton, but I certainly appreciate his time as a Raven regardless of whether he was making one handed grabs against Cincy (that was SO awesome) or virtually non existent in some games.

I hope he has a great career in St. Louis and I think he will, Bradford looks very good and will be around for a long time making Clayton a valuable asset not just one of those 'behind the scenes' trade.

Mark was a fantastic reciever for the Ravens. and his records obviously say so. TJ may not be a long term solution, but to help us win the SB that kind of upgrade was needed. I hope Mark will see sucess in St Louis, cuz thats what he deserves for working so hard for the Ravens.

yes, it is very shameful that we improved our team ... we should have stuck with the under-achieving bust because he is a swell guy rather than pick up the very talented and established player who is respected and helped recruited by none other than our very own Ray Lewis. What's wrong with you people??

We didn't, "stick," with Clayton. We traded for Boldin, and brought in Stallworth to compete with Clayton. A competition that Clayton was actually winning, as quoted in one of the articles on the main page, saying, "He had a strong training camp and preseason, moving ahead of Donte' Stallworth as the team's No. 3 receiver." Clayton never lived up to the standard of a 1st Round selection, but he was poised to be a more than solid contributor in the Slot. I'm all for the Houshmandzadeh signing, but nobody was exactly sweating bullets having this, "under-achieving bust," as our 3rd WR. This a Mark Clayton Appreciation thread. If you don't have anything nice to say about the guy, save it for another thread.

Oh, sorry, I figured since it was okay to blast our organization for doing their jobs in the Mark Clayton Appreciation thread, it would be okay to point out the obvious too...

Oh, sorry. I completely forgot that wishing a player who we traded the best for his future and saying that he will be missed is blasting the organization. Because when someone claims that Clayton would've been productive in the Slot, apparently they're also directly implying that Houshmandzadeh isn't an upgrade at the position, and that picking him up was a mistake.

Oh, sorry, I completely forgot that some of us here lack basic reading comprehension skills. Try re-reading his post and see if you can find anything that can be construed as bashing the organization. I'll even get you started on your homework assignment; look for where the organizations actions were called shameful.

I loved Mark.

Getting a display name changed wasn't as big an ordeal as I thought it would be though.

I noticed that. I saw Clutch Ravens and I had to do a double take.

Change of scenery might have really done him good. 7 catches 79 yards in the first half. I think if he can keep it up it'd be a career day.

But also two drops on very catchable balls and a false start.

Alot of targets for mark, Thats good for him I liked mark I thought we should of hung onto him for this season. I watched some of the game and even though he played pretty well he droped a few catches he needed to make.

I've always thought that he would've done well for us if got consistent targets. He did in 06 had a great year, in 07 everybody was bad, 08-09 was when Joe focused on Mason 80% of the time.

Barring injury, I definitely can see him racking up 80+ catches for 1000 yards and like 5 TDs

It was really nice to look at the ticker and see him put up the stats he did today. Hopefully, he continues to play well the entire season.

I'm glad he had a good day sunday, and I have a feeling hes gonna be a great receiver with the rams. He's prob thinking to himself, "wow... i can be the MAN here"

The big difference is with the Ravens he is number 4 on a better team with less money and less playing time.
With the Rams he is the number 1 receiver all the playing time in the world and eventually bigger pay check the only setback is he is on a developmental team..
