Mark Clayton Appreciation Thread

Looking forward to seeing Clayton play for the blue and gold here, Bradford to Clayton sounds nice. Hopefully he will have a healthy long career here in St. Louis and will help make this Rams team decent one compared to last couple years. Good luck #89!

I love "Thanks" threads!

Clayton, thank you for your time here. Wish it didn't have to end this way, but times change. Thanks for everything you put into our team!

Yup good luck in the future Mark. He never did live up to his potential, but I had great hopes for him this year, being in that 3rd spot.

I love Mark Clayton, he was a great locker room guy, could make the big play, and is just an all around class act. Whenever I had opportunity to receive his autograph at training camp he would always have a smile on his face and would talk to everyone.

Best of luck to you in St. Louis, Mark!

I'm not going to lie. For years I wanted us to get rid of Clayton. I thought he was a super fraud the last few years, but this past training camp it looked like he was filling the role of 3rd WR quite well. He was ok for us, but an overall fraud. I will miss him, though, he was still a Raven. I do appreciate the work that he did do when he was here even though he didn't turn the corner till too late in my book. Rams fan, you're getting a classy guy and I wish him nothing but the best of luck there. BE A BEAST, CLAYTON!

I've always been a Clayton basher. But I realized I was disappointed that he was a first round pick and would never be a #1 receiver. I never liked him as a #2 guy either.

But I really bought into him being the 3rd receiver. I was excited to see what Clayton could do this year. He had a great attitude in Camp. Showed up early. Played tough.

Just as I get into Clayton, he goes.

No matter where he goes, I'll still be a fan and you will always be considered a Raven in my books (Unless you go to the Steelers). Thanks for the good times.

Even though he didn't turn out to be what we would have hoped. He did still perform better than almost any other WR the Ravens have ever drafted. I loved it in 08' when he torched the bengals and had that one handed grab. That will forever be on my mental highlight reel of Ravens touchdowns.

Wish you the best Clayton!

I was looking forward to seeing him in action at the #3 receiver, a position I felt was suited best for him.

Best of luck to you Mark in St. Louis.

He may not have been a legit traditional number 2 for this team, but hey you know what neither is Wes Welker. Slot guys are very important and put up big numbers and are great for run support. I really wanted to see him bounce back and be productive there but we weren't going to pay him that much money and honestly he was very injury prone as of late and he needed a change of scenery.

Between the Mark and TJ, I rather have Clayton. Between Mark and Donte, I rather have Donte.

Hopefully he tears it up as a Ram.

I ll try and remember 2006 Mark Clayton, not 07-09 Mark Clayton.

Mark, your a stand up guy, and through all the ups and downs, we loved having you in Bmore. Your a standup classy guy and thats what sets you apart from most. You came in, busted your tail and gave all you have every week. Best of luck to you Clayton. We're gonna miss you.

I had the utmost respect for his character and his perseverance. He never let a bad play dictate his following performance. Most WRs (Patrick Crayton), complain and ask for a release when being demoted. All Clayton wanted to do was help the team, and I truly admired that. At least I can always look back at his game against the Bengals. Wish him the best in St. Louis. Hopefully there, he can finally realize his potential.

I agree, but being that the majority of fans, myself included, have bashed him for so long, and D. Williams, and Troy Smith, aren't we happy to close this chapter, that never was in the first place.

Really, I'm glad to move on. I've been waiting for this.
And if anyone was to tell me we'd replace them with Bulger, Boldin, Stallworth, T.J, I'd say yeah right, no chance of that happening, but I'll take it.
Well, now it's real.

Mark Clayton is a great guy and played his heart out for this team. It has been obvious to us fans that he would fare better as a slot guy, but this organization failed to give him that chance. For them to finally put him in a position he could succeed at, only to ship him off to the worst team in the NFL and pick up a loud-mouthed diva like TJ Houshmanzadeah is downright shameful, and is the first time I have ever been outraged by the Ravens organization.

Best of luck Mark, you deserved better.

yes, it is very shameful that we improved our team ... we should have stuck with the under-achieving bust because he is a swell guy rather than pick up the very talented and established player who is respected and helped recruited by none other than our very own Ray Lewis. What's wrong with you people??

Mark: Sorry to find you'll be leaving us. We all know that when one door closes, another opens. It's easy to assume you'll make the Rams a better team with just your presence. You know how to help a rookie QB come together and I'm sure you'll help your new QB reach his potential. Thanks for all you've done for this team and for the city. You'll be missed but not forgotten!

Classy guy. He could've been a better player playing under Flacco for all of those years.

My nieces attend the SEED School in west Baltimore and let me say, Mark impacted those kids in an extremely positive way. He was constantly supplying them with school supplies, powerful messages and a love for Ravens football unmatched by many who wear purple and black. Thanks for your impact on and off the field. Time for me to get a new white 'AWAY' jersey, I guess. Good luck, Mark!

I feel the same.

I never considered myself a fan of Mark's, but it is sad to see him go after not living up to his 1st round potential. Just like most other people, the thing I'll miss the most is his humility. Best of luck to him.
