No One Can Make Excuses For The Offense

117 posts in this topic

Greetings!
I usually just view the forums, and log in from time-to-time. Just wanted to start a topic, and get point of views from the flock. (Didnt see a thread to this topic similar, so I decided to start one. If one already, merge...)

Greetings!

In my opinion
No one can make excuses for the offense if it "flops".
Joe Flacco, and also for the offense as a whole if they "dont get it done". I have never, ever, made any "excuses" for him or the team. I do however defend my team though; Back on topic... I wanna specifically talk about Flacco in particular. Each year he has "statiscally improved", and we are watching him grow. Now entering his 3rd year as a pro, and starting QB. He is familiar with the team, system, and how to operate at his position. Plus with the Ravens bringing in Jim Zorn (former NFL QB, and knows the position well.) as the QB's coach, that should benifit Joe a lot.

(Lets take a look at the "supporting cast".)

WR#1 - Anquan Boldin.
WR#2 - Derrick Mason.
WR#3 - TJ Houshmanzadeh.
WR#4 - Donte Stallworth.
WR#5 - David Reed?

TE#1 - Todd Heap.
TE#2 - Ed Dickson.
TE#3 - Dennis Pitta.

RB#1 - Ray Rice.
RB#2 - Willis Mcgahee.

FB#1 - Le' Ron Mcclain.

Bottomline:
He's still a young QB, and there is always something you can do to make your game better. I'm not expecting Flacco to be peyton manning, throw for 100 TD-passes in a season, Etc. I am expecting his game as a whole to be elevated, and for offense to do some great things.

The orginization has done a good job providing him with weapons this past year. Flacco, and this offense has what it needs to succeed, and has what it takes. I'm not going to make any "predictions" about Flacco, or the team of that matter. Im not into that, and going to leave that alone...

Obviously, the team as whole has to click too.

Anyways, Discuss?! :)

Edit: Let me rephrase. I meant to title this topic "No One Can Make Excuses For The Offense ."

I apologize for the mishap.

Could a mod change that for me?!
Please and thank you! :)

I'd agree with you to an extent. Though most QBs take that next step in their third season, I think he has one more year before we begin to contemplate other options at QB. Four years seems to be a decent benchmark, as Flacco's rookie deal was for 5 years and there could always be major injuries to his supporting cast that could derail his progress in Year 3. If Flacco isn't the QB we need him to be after 4 years, then his contract year becomes an audition to either remain with the Ravens for a short-term extension, or find a home in a new city.

That would be amazing if Bulger turned out to be the guy. He is a pro bowler and has such a quick release unlike Flacco who holds onto the ball too long IMO.Bulger is playing on an offense perfect for his talents. I believe as the season moves forward we may have a quarterback controversy!

This is Flacco's year, either make it or break it. Ozzie and FO have done everything they can, so our QB can progress with sufficient help and assistant. If he doesn't shine this year, he may be on trading block.

Flacco has shown nothing that makes me think he isnt our guy. He has done great things with only ok recievers sans Mason. He already imho in the preseason looked like he is taking the next step.

I'm so sick of hearing people say this. Flacco has never made excuses. He doesn't need excuses. I don't know why people expected a guy to walk in the door after two years at D-2 University of Delaware and light it up with a subpar receiving group. All he's done is improve for the past 5 years, consistently.

Flacco is our guy and there is no question. People seem to forget that he took us to the AFC Championship with Mason and CLayton as our starters, and then deep into the playoffs the following year as well. People also seem to assume that we will be passing the entire game. RAY RICE!!! Remember we still have this guy and we will still pound the rock and see amazing plays from our young RB. Thing is, in passing situations now, we are STACKED. Very tough to guard these three receivers, plus Heap, Dickson, Pitta, Rice out of the backfield. Our offense looks ferocious. We need to now address the corners one last time

How? The FO has done the best they can. We just have to hope Fabian holds up, Webb comes back strong and the rest perform well.

I don't think Flacco ever made any excuses to begin with. Nor has he had to. His track record over the past two seasons speaks for it's self. Sure he needs to keep growing, but Flacco is going to be the guy here for a long time to come.

I dont get it either. For a minute I thought this was 2005 and we were talking about Kyle Boller.

Flacco is well on his way, and that was BEFORE we brought in all these weapons for him.

Saying Bulger is going to compete with Flacco mid-year for the QB job is not speculative suggestion. Your posts are borderline trolling remarks. Excuse me for taking notice. I'm not the one who needs to chill here.

Our CBs are too brittle to leave be. We have been stockpiling draft picks, and Viggo Mortensen is speculating that the Ravens aren't done moving players yet. Hopefully this leads to a CB

Fabian and Webb aside, Carr, Williams and Wilson are all healthy. If the team does bring in another CB fine, but personally, I think they're done upgrading the position.

You're original post was pretty much directed at Flacco. You made that clear.
I wanna specifically talk about Flacco in particular. Each year he has "statiscally improved"
Flacco HAS improved statistically, that's a fact - don't know why it's in quotations.

Anyways, I'll change the title but you need to figure out what you're saying. Refine the message.

Some of you guys on here make me laugh...I mean honestly how is there any doubt in any ones mind that Flacco is going to be our franchise QB for YEARS. I dont understand all this talk of "lets see how he does this year before we see if we need to change QBs."
Sometimes I wonder if people just post this just to post something because there is nothing to really talk about or the thread they wanted to post was already posted.

Every single one of your posts is either inflammatory or stating something negative about the team or organization. I'm with DrMoon on this one.

I'll just say this: people are entitled to their own opinion, no matter how contrarian or random.

But, that doesn't mean anyone needs to agree with them. ;)

Injuries and penalties can happen which can make or break a game.

Franny, it's so funny reading your posts, trying to be diplomatic about Flacco, as if he wont be our main man for the next decade..I know that if anyone here is a bigger fan of Bazooka Joe than I am, it's you..must be a Delaware thing!

No excuses this year, period. Although the O line play is not something under Flacco's control, the line itself has no excuses in the world if they don't protect him.

But also, this isn't only Flacco's team. I think there's a considerable difference between being a main contributor and carrying the team. FLACCO will not win games, nor will he get us to the playoffs. The Ravens will get themselves there, no excuses whatsoever. I hate excuses, none are acceptable in my book. Because no matter what the situation or who gets injured or how "bad" the officiating is when we take the field, the ultimate goal is the same...winning the Super Bowl.
