I truly believe that if given a talented director (that means stay the hell away Uwe Boll and writers that won't diverge too much from the original story (keep it fresh, just don't wreck it) Dead Space would make an excellent movie.

I watched Dead Space : Downfall on Netflix the other night. Animated, but brutal.

Oh, and I finally watched Human Centipede. Wow, Mom. My wife walked in, sat down and did this for 45 minutes.

I saw The Last Exorcism the other night as well. Good movie a la Blair Witch documentary style. The ending was a tad over the top but overall a solid 3.5 out of 5.

Oh man, yeah. I watched Downfall on Netflix too before I picked up DS2, brutal was the first word I thought of too. What else could an animated film based on a game about dismembering necromorphs be, though? lol

I've yet to see Human Centipede, I keep looking at it on Netflix, and something keeps me away from it. But the morbid sense of curiosity keeps me contemplating it.

I saw The Last Exorcism in the theaters, wasn't bad at all. I loved The Blair Witch, so I'm a sucker for decently done mockumenteries. The ending wasn't bad, but it left me a bit disappointed. The worst part (but my girlfriend took it so much worse) was, as I'll call it (and you'll know what I'm talking about) "The Cat Scene". I could have lived without that.

If you liked his first one, you'll like the second one. There are a few... uh, dumb scenes in the movie, but I didn't think it ruined the overall opinion of the film. The first is definitely superior to the second, but it's still a good movie. Haven't seen it in a while and was actually thinking about picking both up soon lol

I did like the first remake. Not concerned with dumb scenes as the originals (especially II which was my favorite) had their fare share of them. Thanks Demon, I'll check it out.

One more thing - Did it parallel the original sequel?

Going from pure memory, as I saw it in theaters when it came out, I do believe it more or less follows along with the original with Zombie taking a few liberties. Zombie's version of what goes down in the hospital destroys the original in my opinion.

I didn't care too much for Rob Zombie's Halloween remake. I don't care about Michael Myers' backstory. He was much scarier when you didn't know anything about him. Also, making him huge was a little much as well.

I read a lot of bad reviews for the sequel so I have no desire to see it.

I don't really listen to reviews. If a movie looks interesting, I'll generally end of seeing it.
Same. Although I do find if it gets bad reviews I generally like it more. Go Figure.

Im sure I've told this story before here, but when I first met my wife (who most know is from South Africa) when I was working on cruise-ships I showed her The Blair Witch Project and told her it was real. She was SO UPSET at the end and infuriated that the parents let the footage get released!

Anyway, I had her going for a couple hours until we went to the Crew Bar below deck and she was telling anyone who could listen about this horrible movie about these poor kids who were killed and finally someone let the cat outta the bag and told her that it was all fake.

Needless to say, the only two people who werent laughing were her.....and me of course, lol. She was livid.

I thought it was real the first time I saw it. Felt like a dope when I found out that I (and my wife) were the only ones who didn't know it was a fake.

But I'll tell you what, I enjoyed it a heck of a lot more I think believing I was watching reality. Scared the crap out of me.

The ending of that movie creeps me the hell out. Ive been in old, run down houses like that out in the woods of MD. There was an old rendering plant my friends and I used to party at back in the day. Scary place at night.

Out of the entire horror genre, nothing really creeps me out more than the Silent Hill video games (mostly just the first three). Resident Evil was never "scary" to me, as it just relied on haunted house style scares. Silent Hill was fantastic, psychological horror at it's best. Sure, it had it's own haunted house jump moments, but what you don't see, what you hear, and the atmosphere is where it's at.

It's a shame that the movie couldn't live up to the huge potential laid out by the games.

The very first Resident Evil (Back in '96) was kind of creepy because that had never been done before. I'd love a remake of that original game for XBOX 360.

I don't even understand how you guys can even play those horror games. I love horror films. But when I"m playing in the game and getting chased by devious monsters in the dark armed with a flashlight and handgun, I find myself with the ability to soil myself and have a heartattack.

I remember sleepovers at my cousins' house. My one cousin would be playing Resident Evil and I'd jump. Those dogs man. In the original. They got me that first time. And all throughout the game it was just so creepy. There haven't really been any solid horror movies lately. I like the post-apocalyptic zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days/Weeks Later(Even though those aren't officially zombies) I also loved the new show on AMC The Walking Dead. That was a great show because it was so graphic. The only thing I didn't like is there were so many times when they were just too humane. So many times I thought someone was going to get bit because they were crying or felt bad for the infected. Or they were too loud and had no noise discipline. And the only problem with most apocalyptic movies like Dawn of the Dead, The Crazies and 28 Days/Weeks Later is they almost always make the military out to be the bad guys. My favorite zombie movie of all time is Night of the Living Dead(1990) with Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman(think that's her last name). Notice that hat Tom wears(the guy who decided to unlock the gas pump with a shotgun)

Its cool if the game is co op and your in the same room. At least I would feel like somebody has my back (in the game and real life). But alone in the dark ain't cool.

When I finally broke down and got a wii (which is now used for Netflix only, lol. I suck at video games) I bought Resident Evil 4 (among 15 other games that have never seen the light of day). I couldnt even get past the first village without squirming off the couch every-time someone tries to take a bite out of me, its pathetic (lol, the profanity filter wont let you write bite$me). Wii really puts you in there.

My in-laws from South Africa recently stayed with us for five weeks ( I know, right? Five weeks? ) over the X-mas holiday and I put my little brother in law to work almost every night playing that game so I could watch, lol! We dubbed me his "Military Advisor" because I'd point out all the stuff he was missing. Perfect symbiotic relationship, there.

I think thats my issue. Usually its very late at night when I'm able to get my game on. That doesn't help.

Just watched two horror films last night.

The first one was Trick 'r Treat, which takes place in a small Ohio town on Halloween night. There's several different overlapping story lines and the movie has a great mix of horror and comedy. Also, Dylan Baker was great in it as he is in everything.

The second movie was [REC] (not the awful Quarantine.) This was another good one with great use of "Shaky cam" which I'm not a huge fan of. Good scares and takes a turn for the really creepy at the end.

Agreed. [REC] was much better than Quarantine.
