The first one was Trick 'r Treat, which takes place in a small Ohio town on Halloween night. There's several different overlapping story lines and the movie has a great mix of horror and comedy. Also, Dylan Baker was great in it as he is in everything.

The second movie was [REC] (not the awful Quarantine.) This was another good one with great use of "Shaky cam" which I'm not a huge fan of. Good scares and takes a turn for the really creepy at the end.

I really loved Trick 'r Treat. Lots of story lines. Fun and funny with a bit of scare. Could easily be a Halloween movie staple.

REC was good. I watched Quarantine as well. Didn't notice much of a difference. REC was slightly better.

One way REC was way better is that the lead was a much better actress than Jennifer Carpenter.

This I can agree with.

I actually liked Quarantine, although I've never seen REC (even though I've mulled over the thought many a time).
You can probably live on with only see one of them. I watched Quarantine first. Then I watched REC. I knew exactly what was coming at every turn in REC. The story line is a carbon copy.

Quarantine is based of [REC] as far as I know.
This is correct.

First came Rec, than came Quarantine, then came a baby in a baby carriage. (singing the lullaybe in my head).

Can't wait to see Red State, Kevin Smith's first foray into the genre about religious fanatics. It'l might be all preachy and badly made but the trailer looks amazing.

7 Days.

Holy cow. That one was tough to watch.
A surgeons 8 year old daughter is abducted, abused, and murdered. The dad, grief stricken, abducts the killer. He contacts police, saying he will torture the man for 7 days, execute him, and then
turn himself in.
Some of the scenes are well done. Some are extremely graphic.
As a parent, it made me ask myself what would I do in that situation? Was it justified? I don't know if I have any answers yet, but the movie has certainly left it's mark.

I remember seeing that in PWOT. I didn't think it was an actual movie. Damn.

sounds a little like law abiding citizen, or 5 minutes of heaven

The revenge plot is the same, but the methods used in the revenge are very, very different.

This is very intense, and very brutal. The father is a surgeon, and uses his skills to horrifying effect on his bound prisoner. Not for the sqeamish.

The revenge lasts over a period of 7 days. It isn't surgery, but let's say the Doc uses what he knows to make it worse. What he does to kill the guy is pretty awful.
