Kelly Washington

18 posts in this topic

I was just on nfl.com looking at all the notable players cut and noticed the eagles cut kelly washington i dont know about you guys but i would like to see him back for another year. He brings good energy to the team on the field and since stallworth will be out for awhile i think it would be a good idea i am comfortable with the wrs we got but think this would be a good and not a bank breaking addition.

we have 53 people rite now you can have 55 but i forgot sergio and ed need to come back did they count against the 53 ?

They don't count against the 53, but guys like Reed and Ayanbadejo, who are on the PUP list, will count against the 53 when they return after Week 6. This also includes Cary Williams after he returns from his two-week suspension. Same goes for Donte' Stallworth when he returns from injury.

There's simply no room for Kelley Washington. Good guy, decent player, but no immediate need and no room.

You can have 53 men on your active roster and 45 active for any game. Kindle isn't even signed and reed is on pup for 6 weeks. If we add a player we have to cut a player. Washington isn't a major upgrade over what we have now.

Where or how did you become misinformed about this one this time?

I really liked what Washington did for us last season, and would love to see him back. Just don't see how we could make room for him.

I like him, and think he gives the Ravens something they don't have, which is a taller receiver, good for those jump balls on 3rd downs and red zone plays. But, they released him in the first place... I'm guessing Harbaugh didn't like him, and it was more about personality than anything, because he did nothing but perform on the few times he got on the field.

And he plays special teams too, so it's not like you're losing anything if you cut one of the last players on the depth chart at another position who really are only there to play special teams.

Yes, because coaches and players can never disagree without still having a working relationship. I'm sure that isn't the reason Kelley got cut. I never heard anything about Harbaugh having problems with Washington anyway so that theory makes little sense.

Not saying I don't agree with you, I like him as well! At 6'3" he did help us a lot on 3rd downs & red zone play last season. But, did you forget we still have Heap @ 6'5" and we now have Dickson & Pitta, both @ 6'4"?

Oh, it must not be true because you haven't heard anything about it.

Washington was a good 3rd down guy to put in the slot, but with Clayton bumped down to that spot I don't see how Kelly Washington would really fit in other than on special teams

Kelley wasn't released, he just wasn't re-signed.

It's amazing how you continue to ignore the comments he made at the end of the season when he talked about wanting to get on the field more and how that was going to unlikely with the expected upgrades to the WR position.

kelley was a good player for us and i did like him a whole lot, but i dont really think his size is a good argument for keeping him. i def recall him making a lot of big, timely catches but i dont really remember him using his size and going up high for the ball. not trying to knock him just an observation. he should be able to find a job somewhere.

I liked Kelley Washington a lot too. I would love to see him back, but likely would not happen.

He will play somewhere I figure.

I hope.

I just can not see Kelly Washington returning to Baltimore. He did a phenomenal job for us on 3rd downs last Season, and was hoping to see more playing time down the stretch, which obviously didn't happen. With Clayton already occupying the Slot role and Stallworth returning after his injury, unfortunately, he would likely get lost in the wash (Pun intended). I believe he'd likely head for a team that has a need at WR. I wish him the best where ever he lands.

I'm sorry to hear he wascut by Philly - wonder if it was numbers or position that did it. Wouldn't it be bad if it was the Barnes trade that cost him a spot on their roster!!!

Maybe he'll catch on w/ the Seahawks; they've releasedHusmanzadeh and are looking for an "experienced receiver" (their words). They have been trying to get Jackson from theChargers, but the Chargers just announced that that trade is not likely going to happen.
